  1. That's exactly what I'm after, I couldn't be bothered with the negative attention and/or drone additional noise can bring. As clsoe to legal as possible ideally, without compromising flow too much. Right now I'm at 90db at 4500rpm but at 5000rpm raises a few db above it.
  2. Thanks Mat. But probably not at that stage yet and when I can be bothered pulling off the turbos I'll probably spend some cash on Tomei or something like that. In the mean time I guess I need to change the front pipe (although it's hard to see any real restriction there).
  3. Sweet thanks Steve, looks like the stock dumps still allow some decent power. On the lowest reading dyno here in ACT (the only AWD Mainline) my car made 260awkW @ 20psi. Another car I know with 2860-5s made a similar figure on a bit less boost. Which I know is a very low figure, although enough to fry all 4 shitty Nexen tyres at 80-90km/h in 2nd. 255 Toyo T1Rs are getting fitted this week to the TE37s which'll fix that. So I was wondering if the dumps, front and stock cat (genuine GTR, not compliance) combined with a supposedly low reading dyno can be enough to make that figure so bloody low at such high boost? I guess it's front pipe and tune touch up on a different dyno to find out!!
  4. Okay... After searching and searching I thought I might as well ask and this thread is relevant. My car has R34 block, 2530s, 550 injectors, Power FC, Z32s, HKS hard piping kit, HKS EVC, HKS twin plate clutch, HKS cat back (80mm+), ther things I've probably forgot... All done in Japan. But, much to my frustration, it has stock dumps and stock cat. I have since done the cat with a Catco 3", but the front pipe remains. I was going to get the car tuned again (possibly with cam gears). My question is, how restrictive is the front pipe? Is it worth upgrading now? Spending relatively big cash to do the dumps right now isn't where my priorities lie but the front pipe can be done quite cheaply, are decent gains to be had here alone given my set up?
  5. Love it!! I don't usually like the kits but that has a great look all around. Sounds like a phat engine set up too, well done.
  6. Nothing that in depth, but probably more than 1 million kms on various engines with the relevant parts coming out very nicely on it. Which is enough for me with an oil which is still bought to a price, I admit, being a personal decision as this is.
  7. Not in a GT-R but in many other types of cars. I still run twins on my GT-R. Quality brands like SMB and Difillipo (for V8s) I have found solved the problems. My mate runs a single T04Z on his FD RX7 and a SMB system which ended up with no drone thanks to a big box rear muffler, just sounded sweet all the time. Whereas a twin set up wouldn't have required that. Acoustic resonance is what it's all about. Some systems are so balanced that even opening the boot can cause drone! (mates V8) Your average muffler shop often doesn't understand, well to be fair it's not that but they often haven't had the time/experience playing with different systems and instead do what they are told by the customer. I suspect you'll need a mid muffler and possible a rear box type to stop cabin drone - but I can't be certain. Quality brands won't be a restriction at all and will still sound awesome at full noise. Good luck.
  8. Yep it's deadset hilarious. They were there to feel the pain too.
  9. Mobil 1, a good alternative to the expensive as Motul 300V and better than Turbolite. I've been using it for years with good results, a mate has done extensive testing for more than a decade with engines coming out clean as.
  10. Careful selection of quality mufflers will get you back there, but it will take trial and error and you'll need to can convince a specialist to take it on (not just your average corner exhaust shop), but it'll cost.
  11. Sold to you mate, PM has been sent.
  12. Ashneel, not sure of age, 4yrs I guess? Has it all there to fit up, very long wires.

  15. The decat pipe is fairly illegal! The Catco ceramic flows enough for good power on not obscene boost as shown by Just Jap's R32 GTR and others using it. I'd go with that - quite cheap too.
  16. A lot of GTRs have been crashed, even the owners probably don't know it! The cars are getting old, and have a few kms under their belt, so minor accidents do happen and they are certainly nothing to be worried about if they have been repaired correctly. Often panels that are resprayed for various reasons are passed off as accident repairs by overly anal buyers. Unless the damage was very serious, I wouldn't stress at all about properly repaired minor damage.
  17. Thanks for that Deren I'll keep it in mind for next time, but it all works now as it should: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/R3...53#entry4530653 Thanks to the little thing in that thread.
  18. It was definitely that! Works as it should now, just had to give it a squeeze together.
  19. Trust an American to do it? Seriously, have you not been to our Autosalons or read our magazines for the last, I dunno, 10 years? I'm surprised someone here didn't do this first!
  20. Awesome. Thanks so much, I'll give it a go tomorrow.
  21. Hi fellas, the heater in my car isn't working while the climate control/air con works as it should. I would appreciate some direction of where to check first or if there is a common fault. Cheers
  22. I don't have all of those problems but I have no bloody heater! So I would be keen to see it
  23. GTRs are beautifully reliable cars. You won't look back. Even if it needs a couple of things if it has been neglected a little, once addressed they really are great. They don't get enough credit for how reliable they are, there is far too much fear around them on that.
