Depends. I've seen them reused, esecially in your case. If it's not damaged and sealing surfaces are fine, reuse it.

Whose Done The 26/30 N/a Conversion?
GTRsean replied to GTRsean's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
They are roughly 47-48 mm diameter standard. Trumphets on the throttle bodies (read modified plenum), more aggressive cams etc would be a good starting point . This would be nice lol. 380 hp at the crank, RB26/30DE -

About time lol. After all it is your beast! I want to see more kws but keep that bottom and mid range too. -
great work sean! looks nice. and i love ur display pic. car looks smooooth as! cant wait to see the dyno results. sounds promising! Cheers. They really like taking your money lol. Unplug it. Need to meet up for a cruz soon when i get my car back. I'll try it out Brad. I also need to make another dummy load for the hicas solenoid I pulled out of the engine bay to stop the computer thinking theres a fault. Cruise, for sure. I'll do the Putty cruise in October now . Damn Sean, very nice and very fast work - fkn great effort!! going to bug you for a ride in it soon if i get a night out i'll bring the SLR and take some shots! Thanks Chris. The engine covers you did for me look awsome with the polished stuff so kudos to you. When we get a chance (read time off from busy schedule) for sure. unreal sean. ive booked the gtr in for tune weekend after the long weekend at uni group. so will all have to go for cruise very soon. i just need front bumper now!!!!!!!!!!! I'm glad it's done. Now done over 200k, and it's smooth as. Will be great when you get yours tuned. I'd also like to thank everyone who gave some advice and imput on how to go about doing this project. 3 months seemed forever to me but it was pretty quick in the end.

Whose Done The 26/30 N/a Conversion?

Yep, as you know the GTR cams weren't designed to work like this anyways. Funny you should ask that. I have test driven a dead stock r33 GTST manual and the power delivery is pretty much the same except for the mad throttle response on this. I'm curious to see what he gets down the quarter. Low 14's maybe. Old RB30E was a best of 15.6. I'll post up the dyno graph next chance I get. -

"adaptronic" Engine Management Systems ?
GTRsean replied to discopotato03's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Mates R31 rb26/30DE runs one. Installed by Mark at MRC. Seems to run it well, but like anything it's only as good as the tune. -
I unhooked the wastegate flapper, and the gauge wouldn't go past 0psi+. Thats not using the turbo.......but it's still spinning (idling).
-
Welcome to the forums . Hope you can get on some of the cruises, show and shines etc, that come up around the place.
-
Thanks . In the end I think I owe myself 5K+ lol. Great experience, and knowing the fact you built it yourself! Well, on the stock bottom end it was putting out 350RWKW on 17psi. So I'd be happy with the same amount (read 500hp atw). Mainly due to he stock gearbox, and I built it to handle the power reliably without worrying about what the bottom end is like. Went for a drive tonight, and it's really smooth and sounds gutsy lol. I'm only taking it to 4500 to 5000 at the moment at part throttle. Put 110k on it lol. I'll book it in for a tune once it's got some kays under the belt........we'll see.

Thats for the boot light. Place a globe in there. Usually on most cars, because of their age the boot light switch on the latch fails and the light can stay on even when boot is closed. Hey presto dead battery. Thats probably why it's not installed. Cheers

Whose Done The 26/30 N/a Conversion?
GTRsean replied to GTRsean's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
As promised, the pics: Enjoy Drove it and the throttle response is awesome. Power drops off at 6500 though and gearbox is crap for shifting (needs an r33 one). Diff is also on the way... -
Ha ha. All done!!!! YAY!!! Finished off all the little crappy stuff in the engine bay and under the car then at 4:30pm finally ran it on the starter to get oil flowing. Could hear every cylinder, nice. Then started it for real, fired into life after 3 seconds : ) Drove to the servo and loaded it up on the way there and back, with the waste gates free so no boost to help bed in rings. Came back, dropped the oil and put more mineral oil in and changed filter and hooked waste gate rods back up. Went for another drive, nice! Good to be driving her again. Only problem may be that I need a new idle control valve as the engine revs (flares) by itself continuously at idle. Sounds throatier than before too. Cheers

I see the finish line Lol. Then I can do a bit more of this.
-
Yup, improvisation! At least it worked well other wise I'd have 1x smashed sump and the rest B Y Engineering lol (back yard engineering) .
-
The oil drain pipe bolt holes need to be elongated to fit the drain hole mounts on turbos. The stock drain pipes' holes are not spaced out enough.
-
You're more excited than me lol. I'm stuffed, but can't wait to drive it again! I should probably fit the exhaust too....
-
Thanks Brad! What a long day. Tired and got a headache. Had to improvise with no chain for the engine crane this morning, (mate borrowed it a month ago). Twin plate clutch was the first thing to go on this morning. Cracked the s#%ts with crawling under the bloody thing later in the day. Had a mate help me but had not much experience, so I'll be finishing up tomorrow. To do tomorrow: Bolt up gbox x member Fit center tailshaft bearing mount Fit a couple of belts and fan CAS sensor wiring pipework front suspension top nuts gear shifter Fill up oil, and do up sump plug! Fill front diff. Fill power steering Coolant and bleed Crank over, then start! Bed in engine.

Thanks buddy. I'm getting withdrawals lol. I hope it doesn't get too hot, wind rain etc tomorrow. Aiming to turn it over by Sat or Sunday.

Which Oil To Use On Freshly Built Rb26dett?
GTRsean replied to brembogtr's topic in General Maintenance
Just done one as well. Run a mineral oil to bed in the rings and fresh surfaces. Most of the bedding in will happen in the first 15-20 mins from what the other guys have been saying. I have let the wastegates flap freely so I can load up the rings when I drive it. As soon as I'm done I will dump the oil and fill up with mineral oil and filter again and do a few hundred k's on it then change oil again. Probably run synthetic after a thousand k's or so. I run castrol synthetic oil that has friction modifier for the rear LSD diff, castrol diff (original grade) oil in the front diff. 75-90 for the gearbox, or something like that, and Castrol Transmax Z in the transfercase. Definitive Guide To Building 300-330awkw Gt-r
GTRsean replied to No Crust Racing's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Old setup on mine was, Stock R33 engine tomei 260's 80mm Z32 afms 700cc sard non ported exhaust manifolds (untouched) GT 2530's hks dumps etc. stock airbox with bigger inlet apexi adjustable cam gears on zero. 311RWKW @ 12 330RWKW @ 14 352RWKW running 17 psi 322AWKW @ 17 SAU dyno day. Full boost at 4000ish Pulled engine out due to flogged key way on crank cam gear. Bearings, rings and pistons were in good nick considering 100,000km from me. All in the tune and servicing, and luck of the draw too. Only damage was from rear ceramic turbo failure in it's original life in an R33 GTR. New setup getting put in tomoz........hoping for the same and better lol. -
Tomoz morning is the plan. The other thing I did the other day was setup and adjust the inline throttle setup. Completed that in accordance with the manual, and it's pretty easy after you read it like 5 times lol. Nice and smooth and all good. There was a couple o little things this arvo to get done before she goes in, like fit the balancer and torque to 350,000 foot pounds lol. And fish out a washer I dropped down the front cover GRRRRRRRRR! It's out phew. Got covers off Craved today . The guys who spotted the covers in the shed were blown away lol, no complaints here lol. Engine bays is a bit neater. Just befor balancer was fitted.
-
Nope. I'm happy with what I put in it. I'll kick myself hard later, but N1 pumps go ok. Still have to find out what housing I have here, that I was going to put the billet gears in and use in the engine. It's not an N1 pump so I didn't use it due to being unsure of what I had. Still don't know, no one knows. The one on the left. No idea????? Have I lost anyone lol.

Nearly there! match ported manifolds while they were out. New shims to do valve clearances. Bolting up as much as I can before it goes back in. Craved is nearly finished. Loving his work.
