  1. The suspension place should have advised you of any issues. I went to Traction tyres Rowville with a slight pull to the left, mainly under braking. They made a small castor adjustment (aftermarket castor bushes) and its now perfect, they also checked everything else out to make sure its ok. Sorry I can't help anymore.
  2. FYI I was quoted around ~1200 for a transfer case rebuild, and you can buy second hand for $200-400, don't break it
  3. Is this your daily or your weekend car? Are you doing lots of km's? Yes they're an expensive car, if kept as standard as possible you should have very few issues, both GTST/GTR's can be expensive to fix. For example, clutch install on GTR = $400 labour, GTST=$200, but these are not things you do all the time. Also, if you don't start modifying you shouldn't have much of an issue, if you go high boost or aftermarket turbo's and blow the engine the rebuild might be 6K if you take out the engine, but if you stay low-boost you should be fine. Just look after the oil changes et cetera, you can do them yourself
  4. Change the suspension and exhaust It doesn't have to be super loud and bouncy...
  5. Nice work it was a good read
  6. My last attempt to get a new windscreen went (4months ago maybe): Obrien's $350 (or similar) Another major commercial place $250 Jim Windscreens (yes a franchise) $170*** And the guy came to me near my workplace to fit the screen. That was an old Ford Falcon front windscreen
  7. Please read the sticky on buying a Skyline. Check the many threads on the differences in series. And there are more threads on V-spec vs non-Vspec. Search button on the top right hand side of the screen. You can also go to google and do: site:skylinesaustralia.com <searchTerms go here>
  8. When you say toolbox do you mean just the box? Or full of tools? My gf is considering an apprenticeship and looking at this: http://www.4theshed.com.au/Products/7649-k...;utm_medium=cpc Kinchrome also have a similar version on there website with 6 draws but its $1099 or similar at Autobarn. Lifetime warranty....
  9. Have you tried Jesse Streeter? Might be able to find you something in Japan...
  10. Radar detection devices are illegal in Vic, I am unsure about other states. I can't imagine any state allowing them. Then again there is the issue that most police use laser now (at least in Vic)
  11. Agreed, but I'd like to see some analysis of the oil everyone is talking about to prove the testing backs up your real life experience. Castrol Syntec 0w30 has done a great job for me, with oil pressure and temperature, I can't personally judge if any oil has been quieter than another, I could put in a thick oil and make my engine very quiet, it wouldn't necessarily be a good thing I will do a UOA of my oil next change, but due to the lack of driving I do that is quite a while away
  12. Ok cool, so the lump sums could be spent on anything. But the $800 initial grant is just for tools that your boss sign's off on....thanks
  13. Hi, Just wondering if anyone has any info on how this works. I was reading up on Best Tools for the Job on SAU unfortunately I don't know where to find cheap tools online. Ebay had a few reasonably priced ones from Kincrome Anyway, is anyone familiar with the Australian Apprenticeship Tools for Life program? It looks like the government will pay a fraction of a potential $3800 towards tools on occupations listed on the national skills register. The skills register shows "mechanical services" on there, so I'm assuming that covers automotive mechanics. Does anyone know how the payments work? Are you only eligible if you buy the tools after you have started the apprenticeship? Thanks, Gareth
  14. The PTC PPP program is a lot better than a 3 sets of 5 rep squats and bench / deadlifts. Even thought the 3 sets will work slowly. Just FYI, I went from a 110 to a 115kg bench in 9 weeks, a 185kg deadlift to a 195kg deadlift in 9 weeks, and a 150 to a 155kg squat if 9 weeks. I'm working towards 120/160/210. The PPP program does not apply to military press or other exercises, see the PTC link in my signature and drop an email if you want to buy it. Its $20, I highly recommend it. That said, before using it you need to have decent strength in the first place, in other words your 1 rep max should be close to 100kg bench, 140kg deadlift and 120kg squat or similar
  15. My car is low enough to do the same When I say half a brick, I literally mean 1/2 a brick ontop of the jack's pad to get the end of the jack to be higher. This allows the jack to start jacking up the car *before* bending the side skirts. I've also used a piece of wood for the same purpose, and I'm open to ideas on what to use
  16. Really? I'm pretty sure I read that the compressor wheel or something on the HKS GTSS is slightly different to the Garrett, but otherwise they are identical. From reading the power graphs I've noticed the HKS GTSS is usually slightly close to the 330rwkw Oh, please post up in the RB26 sticky so the info doesn't get lost. I'm looking into the Hypergear highflow with 2860RS cores, it looks interesting but not sure if anyone besides the 300ZX guys have tried it...
  17. Sure, while scientific research may show that 4g/kg or whichever measure your using is too much protein for the average strength athlete, every strong strength athlete I've met does take large amounts of protein. Protein should be coming from food, and within reason of course. One of the strongest guys I have met takes 400g/day of protein, nearly all through food, but then again he weighs 105 or 110kg and is over 6 foot
  18. Its on Car Audio Australia / Mobile Electronics but I recommend you read the Will this be the last deadener thread? Its an interesting discussion depending on what alternatives your looking at
  19. Interesting, I have R33 nismo side-skirts and they have the jacking points cut out of them. If you do get a flat on a highway the stock scissor jack should be able to fit into that cut-out, are you saying the scissor jack doesn't fit in there? If you can get a super low trolley jack then you can jack from the suspension arms or similar but it probably won't help on a highway You can get lightweight aluminum racing trolley jacks that are pretty low on ebay for ~300 but its not low enough for my side-skirts unless I use it with an object on top of it...
  20. I've heard nothing but good things so I will But maybe next year, I want to have enough money to do something more than chat...
  21. It was an honest mistake, since I/others witnessed it, it was not like he was racing around the corner at high speed. It looked like a little too much acceleration in wet weather / not the best quality tyres.
  22. Great cruise, thanks for organising, I couldn't stay around as my gf was sick. The guy in the S15 has started a new thread in this section
  23. I'm interested in getting one of these eventually with the new turbo's Do you mind if I ask the price range? The work looks good, although I'm looking at 3.5" or 4" depending on costs. Is it turbo back? Or cat back?
  24. Why buy -7's when you can buy -9's or get a hypergear 2860RS core highflow? Where -9 have similar response but with more power than a -7. Check the turbo threads
