The Stock R33 GTR

I think we all do this with each other. There was a point in time when I was living through your posts of the Silver R34. -
The Stock R33 GTR

Ummm, we didn't get any. If I take some tonight will you forgive me? I'm sure I can get some half decent ones. Also I drove the silver one... Jesus it's slow. Absolutely nothing under 3k rpm. You gotta absolutely give it the business for it move. It's all top end. We did uncover that the LM in second off boost at 20kph is as quick as the Stock on boost in first and second to 110kph. After the LM climbs on boost and grabs third though... gooooone. -

See how this guard doesn't quite look right? The curve is slightly interrupted. There's a parking ding or something similar in the guard. It's kind of just pressed in, paint isn't scratched, the actual shape is just interrupted. Like i say, i'm sure someone who knows what they're doing will be able to fix it no problem from the inside of the guard. Having spent the whole day cleaning it, I can also confirm about 10 spots in the paint that aren't perfect. Not bad, just little surface scratches or scuffs. Will need a good polish and should be ok. -

Unfortunately, we didn't grab many close ups. (we were short on time/daylight): *Side note, found a bloody dint in the car. Much sadness (but it should be an easy fix). -

Yeah, that's on me. I cleaned and blacked them up prior to leaving for the shoot, then promptly forgot to redo them just before we started... oops. Still, they came out just fine. And yeah the plates. I bloody hate them, they make the cars looked bucktoothed. -

Paid a photographer to capture some images of the stock GTR and of my LM. I spent the entire day cleaning the pair of them. Lots of elbow grease involved. @ActionDan please see blacked out parts of the car. I hope this meets your standards? ? -
Damn. I'm going to be away Tuesday-Wednesday for work. [emoji852]

Hello welcome! Info for tuning a GTR is abundant here. You should have no problem! [emoji16]

Not always, for example; I've spun a bearing in my car. ZERO warning lights! Just a crazy tractor noise. Winning? Right? Guys??

I'm not this clever with cars, but I do try to stop and help people push their cars... It's all i'm good for really. And yeah, when you break down in a BMW, you are all alone.

+1 For Flex. I don't know about any of the intricacies around the install/dyno time setups, but for me, running flex means I can pull in to almost any service station and fill the car up with a suitable fuel. It means that I never have to worry about running out (well almost, thanks 5L per 100km ?). If you're going to do it from scratch it seems like running flex would be a more practical setup for the real world.

I am loving these old threads being dug up! [emoji23][emoji23]

The Stock R33 GTR
Steve85 replied to Steve85's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Bahahaha, No. Just for that. I'm gonna not do it. But seriously, it is on my list, and it was pretty clean before the cruise, it's just that things get dirty, especially when you use them. And compared the mess the house is in (thanks two small children) the car isn't nearly as bad. Also, I mowed my concrete (thought of you as I did it!). -
Hi Drew, Welcome to SAU! What kind of Nissan have you just gotten?

I've also gone over the car and come up with all the damage that exists on the car. To date, the following images show damaged body work. Unfortunately, it appears that most of the damage has come about from the previous storage of the car under a car cover. There's also an interesting hit on the front bar and of course, scuffs on the front lip. There's also a dead bug in one of the headlights. Uggh. -

Update on the KR4 R33. We took the car out to the 50th Anniversary Cruise arranged through GT Car Club and V-Spec Performance. My wife drove it down to V-Spec in Blackburn, where the car received considerable attention (a lot more than my car). It ran beautifully and had no problems. The best part was there was also another completely stock R33 GTR there in Silver. I spoke to the owner briefly, then missed him at the other end. The other stock R33 had about 55k kms on it (IIRC). I was so disappointed to have not met up with him again. The KR4 GTR (which it is called in our house) added an additional 250kms to the odometer. It's now 100kms under 10000kms in total (where it will lose all value I assume -jk). Here are some images of the event: -
quite interesting... i'm not saying it's me... but, it's one of the wagons my wife and I own. And she didn't break it. Side note: guess how much a 2006 530i Wagon is worth without a running engine. Did you guess $300? Cause that's the highest I've been offered for wrecking.

Can’t seem to figure it out
Steve85 replied to WiKKiDTT's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Well, to be honest, I don't know then. If you're confident in your basic electrics, that's where my expertise ends. I'd rather not guess through the Internet about someone else's issues. I hope you find the issue. It's a shame when they aren't quite running right, or you feel you can't trust a car. Good luck. -

Ok, that may not be the issue then. If they're not under load, i wouldn't expect them to fail. Does it ever happen when you accelerate (or seem worse under load?) If it's not that, I would be looking at my battery connections and earthing points (as an easy way to check things out). Certainly my car can be a bit temperamental to crappy earthing connections. If it seems to happen over bumps check this out. Otherwise, listen to other people on here, i'm sure someone has experienced this before. -

Putting my bets in on coil packs. Either that or your igniter. Are you normally driving fast or just cruising around? -
Welcome as a BMW and GTR owner i am extremely excited you've signed up. Your GTR looks to be in amazing shape. I'm going to assume you've been looking after it.[emoji16] Completely unrelated, do you have any experience with N52 swaps? Asking for a friend, whose just appears to have spun a bearing in his 530i wagon... (cough).
-
I don't know that anyone is going to have specific knowledge on this issue. (I might be wrog though). As someone with a basic idea of electronics, it sounds to me like you're on the right track. Just keep following your 12V back to where you can. You might find its something super easy like a termination that needs repinning or a broken wire. Silly question: Are you sure the ECU is good? What happens if you power it up with 12V from elsewhere?

Also the Nismo one is super interesting as it has the original and the newer logos. Double jdm goodness. [emoji16] Edit: fake. I gotta start reading from the top before i comment. [emoji852] -
