This is a terrible reponse to a genuine question. Are you spruking PA chipsets or FM transceivers? No?... maybe keep it to yourself next time.

Check your grounds on the head unit wiring and clean up the antnenna connections as well. Potentially your antenna connection is simple coming loose from the head unit. RF shorts could also be your problem. Any antenna cable that has been crushed or turned beyond the bend radius (ie 180 degrees), will no longer work correctly.

Borg Warner EFR Series Turbo's V 2.0
Steve85 replied to Piggaz's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Thanks for putting together a post with lots of info and a thought out response. I read it through (twice if I'm honest) and it makes some sense to me as a noob. This is the type of info I like coming to SAU for. [emoji16] -

Oh boy. That's not brilliant. Next your going to tell me they fail catastrophically and the car pretends it's a Ferarri? Time to start learning all about injectors I think. [emoji848] I don't have these problems with the wife's car. [emoji23] -

R31 Vs R32 Vs R33 Vs R34 - Which Is The Best Skyline
Steve85 replied to Tony99's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I like this train of thought... here's mine: R32 GTR - Dedicated Drag Car R33 GTR - ~550whp Street Car R34 GTR - Dedicated circuit racing car -
There's a now famous video of a guy in an Integra who crashes on a racetrack with his mate in the car. Give that a view before you go chinese or knock off.

R31 Vs R32 Vs R33 Vs R34 - Which Is The Best Skyline

I think we've had this topic before. But here's my thoughts. R32: People love it cause its the original and it's the car that began the whole mythology. It's racing pedigree is A+. R33: The ugly duckling, didnt move the goalposts like the 32. The bargain GTR if you dont mind it's looks (like me). R34: Angular and modern (ish) people loved the multi function screen. Was a fast and capable car at a bargain price compared to other cars at the time. Annnnnd of course Paul Walker popularised them drastically in the US. Which one's best? The one in your driveway! (or possibly your wifes one in the driveway [emoji23]). It's each to their own here, people are going to buy the ones they want and change them to suit their requirements. If you're buying a GTR because other people like them you're doing it wrong. -
Is this going to reduce legacy GT-R prices?
Steve85 replied to Liquid Swords's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Ok... you've given me a bit there. My two cents (and i dont know much, i work in IT) If Australia holds a stock of GTRs greater than that of Japan, this will change the market slightly. What won't happen is a price adjustment down. You need to assume that all the GTRs have been bought out of Japan due to demand. Whether that is investor based or owner based. This increase in demand will have seen prices rise throughout the process, so GTRs have never been more expensive (in this thoeretical situation). What happens next would be a change of primary source for stock. Instead of buying out of Japan, some people will take the cheaper option of buying from Australia. This will continue until the buyers of GTRs get too old and run out of money/csre factor. One of the big driving forces behind prices is whose buying them. It's people like me, who wanted one when I was 18 but could never afford it. A good example of this is Australian and US muscle cars from the 60s and 70s. Yeah they're cool, but i don't want one. My dad wants one (or did want one). The GTR is my Falcon GTHO or Monaro. People like me are driving up prices (sorry). -

Steve85 replied to Liquid Swords's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I've touched on this topic before. The GTRs that are worth buying do sell and quickly, generally before being advertised widely. The ones you see up for sale on Carsales, ebay etc are not the best examples, some of them have rust, some have questionable modifications and a bunch have my personal favourite "low kms" on a brand new Nismo dash cluster while managing to look as ragged and worn out as they come. Of the 60 or so cars that are online right now. About four or five of them are worth buying at advertised prices (in my opinion). There's even a GTS4 and a re-birthed car in the mix in this set. We see this cycle a few times a year, good cars go up for sale, are sold quickly, then a bunch of people with "so-so" cars jump on the selling bandwagon at inflated prices. My opinion regarding your first question is: No the heritage program won't lower prices and no I don't think that prices are going to drop any time soon. The US market coming online each year won't help prices as people are buying more and more GTRs out of Japan. The more this happens the rarer they become in Japan, the higher the prices. This is then reflected in other markets where GTRs are prevalent. Of course, as someone with a GTR, if they start to drop i'll make a considerable loss on the cars and will be crying into my weeties each morning (not really, though, you take these risks knowing it could go wrong). -

Prices won't be going down because of Nissan's heritage program. At this point it's going to take something going seriously big to drop interest/demand. -

Speed restricted card from 2023? What do you think?
Steve85 replied to PranK's topic in General Automotive Discussion
The person who wrote this article has assumed an awful lot about the implementation of the system. Not to mention the uptake on these vehicle. Why would you bother to own a beige-mobile if you can pay a subscription to a car service and just use someone else's. "Major cities around the world will also eventually ban internal-combustion engine vehicles from entering built-up areas."" The end is nigh." Mmmm, ok then. I get that there's taxes and pay walls here but banning them outright hasn't yet been planned for any Australian city. "Firstly, there will likely be ‘low volume’ exceptions to these rules, so small supercar and sports car makers may thrive." I don't believe this line for one second. A $25 dollar box and $46 worth of coding isn't going to be an issue is you're paying half a million dollars. "No doubt the price of those cars will go through the roof (start buying)." There's so many sports cars, that I just don't think this will be the case across the board, yes, specific models (GTRs, RZ supras) will rise in price, but equally there'll models worth exactly one six pack of VB or bottle of chardonnay (depends on who you're buying/trading from). "Track days will become far more frequent, car meets will get bigger and bigger. There will likely be significantly less road policing due to the majority of the cars self-policing (not that we would want that, of course)." I don't think this is accurate either. Car meets aren't getting bigger, in fact, I feel that they're smaller than ever. "But unlike the built-in ISA, that retrofitted system will be impossible to truly police, and where there is a will, there is a way." This is a point I actually do agree with, any retrofitted system will be vulnerable to "interference/modification/breakage". I guess the real question (as noted above) is what is the consequence of the GPS tracker/controller not being operational? I'd rather see autonomous driving be established before this type of "autonomy". Anyway my two cents (or more if you like). -
Welcome, this car looks familiar but I don't know why. Good luck with your build, there's tonnes of info here if you can find it.

This topic has some good advice in it. There's heaps of others out there though, just hit search and type in R33 Bolt on Modifications (or words to that effect).

The way I see mechanics going is (not a mechanic by the way), the actual mechanics will still be necessary, however the role they perform will change ever so slightly. I see cars going modular and the mechanic will be more likely to pull an entire section of EV out and replace it with an new one. The component will then be repaired later (even off-site). There will always be a need for mechanics, it just might be that they aren't going to necessarily be performing all the same tasks. I also see them needing to up-skill in their abilities to interrogate vehicles via software (not saying they can't, just think it'll change slightly). Potentially you'll have the remote support desk who'll connect to the car to diagnose it before it arrives. Regarding details around European countries removing IC cars completely, i just don't see that being possible given the large distances that we cover here in Australia. We either need a way better charging infrastructure or for EVs to be capable of 1000kms in a single drive. They're probably both coming, but I feel Australia represents a tough environment to roll this out.
