  1. Drive the LM seems to be the logical conclusion... I can't remember if it was N1s or V-Specs with better cores. But yes, that's my only worry really, well that and theft (obviously).
  2. Here's the catalogues/brochures that came with the car. There's also an entire history from the first owner, all the way back from 1998 (when I was 13).
  3. Haha, thanks. I feel like mint doesn't even cut it ?. It makes my other one look like utter crap. It's basically a brand new car. No scuffs, no marks on the inside. A grand total of 3 scratches (two very light ones in the paint, one on the front lip). I've own new cars that weren't this nice.
  4. I should add a couple of things. The car was on LMGT4s but, I'm not the biggest fan (cue internet abuse). I just didn't think they suited this car all that well. I actually like the original wheels. However, now its in the driveway, 17 inch wheels on this car look like 15 inch wheels. hmmmm. It also came with an insane amount of paperwork including original Nismo catalogues and also Brochures from Nissan about the ADM R32s. Strangely the rare catalogues and brochures are just as exciting to me. (cue more internet abuse). This car won't be a build as such, if anything, i'll be pulling non standard items out of it (i doubt it), but certainly no modifications will take place. The only one i can image happening would be the Turbine wheels. As a non V-Spec it's probably got Ceramic wheels, and they don't age well. The other thing is the fog light has been rewired to be a reverse light. I'll probably re-re-wire it to be a fog light that operates via the switch again.
  5. Before i purchased the car i did my homework. I first matched the online ad to this old post (since dug up by me) I also recongnised from the images on the for sale advertisement that it had been to V-Spec Performance in Melbourne and onto the hoist. So I rang them up and ask them about a mint KR4 R33 GTR that they might have inspected about two years ago. Simon down there remember the car and we had a chat about it. He confirmed for me that it had appeared genuine to him at the time. I spoke to the seller via phone and text message and obtained some images of the paperwork that would come with the car. There was a lot of info papers spread across the floor of someones lounge room. One of the pieces of paper was very obviously a RacePace motorsports invoice (i'm pretty familiar with these). So (and you can probably guess), i called up Gareth down at RacePace and asked him if he remember any mint condition R33 GTRs with few kilometers. He didn't, at first. After a bit of prompting and sending him to the Carsales ad, he remembered. It had come in not running. Again we chatted about it and he ran me through what he could remember. The car had been stored for a long time and the fuel had gone off and caused a little but of damage to the fuel system that they had then repaired. They had also changed all the fluids. Gareth was able to tell me after he remembered that he too, thought this car was a legit low kms car. Armed with that info, and with the seller telling me that the car was supposedly still in excellent condition for sale in Sydney, NSW. I did what anyone else would (or should do). I sent it to Croydon Racing who know their GTRs for an inspection. The guys at Croydon were great and performed a very thorough inspection and drive test for me. The car tested mechanically well and presented as a legitimate low km car. I talked with Dom for a while about the car and he put my mind at ease that it was in excellent and unmodified condition. The car now has 9600 kms on it, but it is in amazing condition. Really puts my car to shame. We negotiated a price (well, i'm not great at this, i paid what he wanted) and I paid a sizable deposit quickly. Unfortunately things slowed dramatically from there. The seller went away (overseas), then I went away (on a break from work really) and it was another 4 weeks before things started to roll again. I arranged shipping for the car and paid the rest of the money. The car arrived and went straight to RacePace for security and Roadworthy inspection (prior to registration) reasons. My wife went and picked up the car and brought it home to be friends with my LM. I'm really hoping to get her into driving it or showing it off or anything really. It seems the perfect car for her, stock so it drives easy, it shouldn't get in any trouble with the police or EPA as its quiet and it has very little in the way of power. Perfect entry level GTR (well except for price).
  6. Hey all. It's been a while (thanks life), but i've gone and bought a second GTR. This time for my wife. I needed something appropriate that should hold its value. A few years ago a guy popped up saying he had a mint R33 GTR with almost no kms and no mods. I wanted it then, but had no cash monies. Fast forward a few years and a lot of money;
  7. Maybe don't read about my LM then... lol This car and that one are opposite ends of the GTR spectrum *(well, it was before 1000hp was the new norm).
  8. Yep. Ive never really experienced stock. That's part of why im so keen for this one.
  9. Sort of the plan. We'll see how it goes, bur intend on keeping it clean and modification free. There can't be many left in that state. [emoji16]
  10. Not at all. The plan is specifically to keep it stock. [emoji16] I've got the LM which has zero stock components so no need really.
  11. Yes, i think so. Although to be honest, zero mods will be taking place. But i'm sure everyone would be keen to see a stock R33 GTR. Yep. I thought it was a good deal. This car is amazingly clean, no dints, no rust, no modifications. It's exactly how the factory built it (almost, more to come on that).
  12. Paid exactly what i recommended two years ago. 70k. [emoji16][emoji7]
  13. Digging up an old thread. This is my car now... well my wife's. Two pre-purchase inspections later and long talk with my mechanic. Can confirm the kms are legit and car is in pristine condition.
  14. A car without a compliance or build plate is going to give you trouble every time you try to do anything with VicRoads or if you get pulled over even if it is legit. Obviously it's up to you but, i would walk away from this one. (<my two cents).
  15. I read good things about the original TRD Avalons, and I thought they looked pretty good too. These ones... i'm not a fan. This type of tuning seems to be the new entry level norm. I'm thinking C43 AMG etc. Also I think we are entering another phase of overdone styling. The amount of plastic manufacturers are putting on their cars is starting to bug me. I think 18 year old me would have liked these, 30 year old me says no. And I'm still angry they slapped an RZ badge on a Camry. ?
  16. Hmmm. A full year since, I've bothered to update anyone on the car. I seem to be rather hit and miss in here. Since the last update the car has been back to RacePace for changes to the fuel system layout. Instead of bringing the hoses up through the wheel well, they all come through on the drivers side of the boot now. This means I can put the boot back together and throw in a spare wheel as well. I'm hoping this will quiet the noise of the fuel pumps. The car was also tuned to make a little more power, importantly I've stopped rolling so much coal when I step on it. The car is sitting at about 600 hp at the wheels. I drove the car a little last weekend, it's feeling amazing, exactly the right amount of power, delivered in a very linear manner. It's extremely driveable now. I also got some new brake pads put into the car, more suited to the street. This has also helped to bring my confidence up. The car hasn't been out much, as i've changed jobs and we had a second child. It's funny how it works out and how little time you can end up having for these things. I know most of you are here for pictures... here you go!
  17. Jesus. Who the f keeps digging these up. This is like the fourth thread over ten years old to have been dug up in the last couple of weeks. Not everyone hates the 33, it's just less popular as the forgotten middle child of the 32,33,34 set. Me? Yeah, i have a thing for the middle child. But i'm weird so ... ?
  18. I've been thinking about this topic a lot of late. Does anyone have any hard data for the appreciation curves of GTR (any models). I'm thinking of creating a spreadsheet to track volunteers who are willing to disclose their purchase prices.
  19. Allow me to correct myself. A quick google: "RB26 Build Date" brought up this thread: https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/103728-rb26-identification/ This may be of some use to you.
  20. Not that I am aware of. I don't believe that there is any record of engine numbers for specific chassis. Nor am i aware of changes to the numbers that would indicate the time of build (happy to be proven wrong by the wider community of course).
  21. That's odd that you're brakes weren't great. The brakes would be right up there on our wagons they're really, really good. Any chance you've got some mediocre tires on it? I should imagine that could also be a big influence on your pedal. Good to see you haven't shyed away. And that is a pretty sweet looking upgrade!
  22. Just a quick update for you. Since purchasing my car, i've up the insurance value from 80 to 95k. So R33s breaking 100k might just happen. I've spoken to a few people in the US and they are of the opinion that R33s will eventually outprice 32s or at least carry a similar price tag over there. He spoke about the 32s breaking the ice for imports and parts, and how some people he was speaking to were hanging on for the R33s. They were deemed to be more desirable than the 32s while being more attainable than the 34s for most of his potential clients.
  23. @PranK Our cars have a dark grey/black headliners. I have noticed the one without a sunroof does feel a bit darker, but not excessively. The one with the sunroof is perfect as you can just open the cover on the sunroof to let in more light if you want. The kids love being able to look at the sky in the car. And yes, BMW tax is real (it can be worse than GTR tax)... it's why i've started fixing my own cars.
  24. So I just pulled out and put back in (for rattles in the damn sunroof) the headliner of an E61 Wagon. (Slightly older than yours of course). They're pretty straight forward to do (assuming you like allen keys and Torx). If you find a cheap headliner as a replacement that suits your car, give that a go. Just remember that there will be airbags everywhere. The cool part is once you have removed the trims from the pillars, there are just some clips that need pointy nose pliers to get the lining out. It took me a while (about 4 hours in total, over two days, so bank on using a half day and you won't go wrong). For me, I found a bunch of clips that had snapped an the sunroof motor bracket was loose. Removed busted items, tightened bracket, no more rattles! I think someone may have replaced the sunroof motor before me, only they forgot to screw it in properly.
  25. Nice car man. I still haven't gotten around to doing anything about my car yet. However, we did add a little girl to the household recently. So its not like i've been sitting on my backside. I'm currently looking for a new toy car, and i'll probably sell one of the wagons. I'm also going to be storing a friends 34 GTR. So at least my 33 will have a friend!
