  1. These things were straight up essence of the 90s in car form. (At least in my head).
  2. This story sounds very similar to a lot of other people here... What has surprised me most is how often people with GTRs are approached with straight up cash offers. I've never experienced anything like it before.
  3. I've driven the A Class (I drove a MY15), it is a much better car than the 2 Series Active Tourer. In fact, i disliked the 2 series active tourer so much I wrote a letter to BMW about it (more buttons than a keyboard on the dash, no steering feel at all). I also drove a CLA 45 with the intention of buying one, then, surprise, child on the way! (i was going to trade the M5, but ended up selling it privately. You'll find that some euro cars are expensive to maintain, while others are not. We have a 530i wagon (2006) and it has been mint. Hasn't skipped a beat and has cost less to run in 2 years than my XR6T has in 1 year. Also once you have experienced BMW and Mercedes service departments it's very hard to go back to your average service department. @PranK might be able to help with running costs of a Euro.
  4. That white Cefiro looks mint. I can see why you might regret selling it. It always sucks when you assume you'll find another just as clean, only to find out nope, most others aren't looked after as well. As for this, don't feel bad, I missed the sub 50k R33 boat... kidding, i just really wanted an LM Limited (and also 700hp). I sold the M5 because it cost too much to maintain. I manage put about 5k kms on it, in that time the bill (under an extended warranty) was about $20k. I was on first name basis with the Service manager. Ironically, the GTR is coming up on that number and I've not even put 1000 kms on it yet. Still some of the changes to the GTR have been "improvements", where on the M5 it was OEM parts. But still, i miss it...
  5. That looks like a warm sunny Sunday cruiser to me.
  6. Wow that white one looks amazing. Looks to be done just right, not too over the top. I can see why you might miss it.
  7. I'll go first. There are two big regrets in my car history. First is my old V10 M5. It was an awesome car, every bit as good and as fragile as the internet says it is. It was comfortable and quick and once you learned how to use it fun and easy to drive. And the sound, this car is probably number three on my all time car soundtracks (beaten only by the LFA and Carrera GT). This is the car that I judge all other by. It's possibly the reason I can't stand my XR6T. The other is my XR5 Turbo (or Focus ST if you're anywhere else in the world). This car was awesome fun to drive, super practical (except no cruise control) and was able to be seen from 1000 meters away. We called it safety orange because everyone saw you. It sounded good too with a lovely 5 cylinder growl. I sold it to a 21 year old who was already planning 20 inch rims and a giant stereo while on the test drive. I'd suggest it's been ruined by now... Otherwise, all my cars have been traded in because I had ruined them...
  8. Cars you regret selling. Hi all, Thought i'd start a new topic about cars we all regret selling. It seems to be unavoidable in our lives that we can keep all our favourite car and know that I have sold a couple I really regret letting go of. What have you let go of that you really wish you hadn't?
  9. I don't want to complain, but I am a member, but no package arrived for me. Just wanted to check if it had been sent. (No rush, just checking).
  10. My wife can't stand that I still want other cars as well... I keep sending her links to V10 M5s and Chasers and Evo 6.5. Ah well, I can dream!
  11. This car is currently for sale through Tokyo Prestige in SA. (I believe, please correct me if I am mistaken).
  12. This is my first go at an engine in over 10 years. A lot of my knowledge has escaped. Still it's good fun, so that's something!
  13. Haha, I believe that those days are looong gone.
  14. Personally, I found Forza to be a little lacking compared to GT in terms of physics, but it is a game you can play against the AI and it's a challenge. Not like GT where you blow them away after the first corner.
  15. Haha! Hells no, if anything I'm looking at a car to thrash!
  16. Can't wait to see what turns up here!
  17. Awww yes! Thanks for your replies gents, it's for my mate, he doesnt have GTR repair cash lying around, so yep, cheaply it is.
  18. With an attitude like this, you'll be in high demand here! Welcome aboard. just into any discussions you think you can help on. Technical requests are always coming through.
  19. If anyone is interested add me as your friend, i don't have a gold membership but like to compare drift and lap times etc in the leaderbaords, my gamer tag is: lmlimitedsteve (i'm not creative with my names).
  20. Damaged RB30 Block Repairs Hi all, I'm helping a friend rebuild a VL Calais. Long story short we bought the car for $2500 as a bunch of pieces and a rolling shell. Most of the car was there and we have managed to put it all back together. I should add that we are by no means mechanics, so please excuse my ignorance where it may appear. We have managed to start the car and it does move under its own power after several months of rebuilding it, however, one of the exhaust manifold studs was bent and had been poorly re-tapped. Initially we believed this would not be an issue, however, it leaks radiator coolant from the re-tapped stud area (we just left the exhaust off the car for initial tests). We have since learned that this cannot be repaired quite as simply as we had hoped and the block may need serious work to be any use to us. I believe that there may be coolant leaking into cylinder six. There is no water in the oil (we've checked twice). Obviously this is an issue and we are in the process of stripping and pulling the engine out for reconditioning. The coolant absolutely pours out of the exhaust port of cylinder six when the engine is running. I'd suggest it could empty the coolant from the car within 15 minutes if left to run. My query here is, in the event that we pull the engine for re-condition and cylinder six is in good condition, is it going to be possible to repair the block of the engine? We could simply have someone re-work the block and re-tap the stud, but does anyone know the effect that might have on the water path through the block? I'm concerned that if we attempt a repair we will re-direct the coolant path into the cylinder itself or some other area where we don't want coolant. Can anyone offer their opinions on this matter or does anyone have experience with this type of problem? (Pictures to follow).
  21. Welcome! We were literally just discussing Neo swaps into R33s the other day. Glad to have you here, would love to see more pictures!
  22. Are you in Australia? 25k in Australia won't be quite enough for a good one, but it will get you into a car that needs some work.
  23. I though these were so you knew where the front corner of the car was. Are there any wires going to it?
