Monaco- Not Just A Great Place to Avoid Tax ;)
Silver-Arrowz replied to Kel's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Kimi on provisional pole with more than 0.5sec lead on Alonso! Maccas will be the team to beat. -
I don't know what you've heard about R32 brakes but my old R32's brakes were awesome! I out braked a Porsche 927 going into turn 1 at EC and consistantly outbrake S15's into corners. Most of the time it's worn out seals in the Nissan brake calipers that are the culprit. And as for ATESSA, that's driver error. People stack it because they lift off when the car's side ways. ATESSA works with the throttle down when sideways. The computer will tell the front wheels to pull. There's a thread about it. But as others said, it is an expensive car to maintain and own. How you cover it is entirely up to you.

I'll take it. PM me your address and we'll arrange time.

Cops and engineer's certificates
Silver-Arrowz replied to tk80's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I ponder how they can issue a fine without absolute proof that the car's exhaust is over the legal limit? Someone care to explain? Anyhow, cop has a point there. Your on NSW roads so you abide by NSW rules. Each state has it's own set of rules and it's up to you to find out about them and follow them. It's just the way it goes. At the same time I think it's just down to luck. The copper saw you and singled you out. -
The difference between 90db to 95db is noticable. Its your call but if you get booked you can't complain since you know the risks.

Skyline GT-T R34 or Supra RZ?
Silver-Arrowz replied to TracidTrax's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Supra. -
Silver gtst - as long as it has the Australian standard sticker on the back, it's all good... ie. AS1698 sticker.

I sold mine to someone here. I didn't advertise it in the for sale section but someone was asking about R32 GTR's and they read about it and asked me.

I'm getting quotes of about $800 to paint so far. I found one place which would do it for $500 but I'm not sure if that includes logo's and all.

I felt the same way about my old WRX. So I got rid of it. I felt the same way about my GTR too. It was reliable but I just felt there was more to cars than just that... Now I have my MR2. Yeah I like it now, but I'll get bored of it sooner or later. Then I'll get rid of that. I'm such a car s|ut...

Ah ha! Thanks a million Duncan. Mine's that BS6658 type A. Now to find someone to paint it!

I Mine also is an Arai helmet. But I remember it having some british standard sticker on the back of it. I'm just worried I can't use it out at track days because it's for go-karting.

I've found it's simply you pay for what you get. Don't expect Falken FK-451's to be at the same level as something like Bridgestone S-02/3's! And another thing is grip is one thing with tyres, but the feedback they give you also varies. Both don't always go hand in hand. Starting at the bottom to the top Federal 595's I think??? - Only good if your broke or need something to avoid being defected. Grip was so poor, I believe RWD cars with decent tyres had MORE grip then these tyres on my GTR. Feed back was poor and sidewalls must've been soft as rubber. Rocked like jelly! Dry = 2 Wet = 1 Falken FK-451 - Had these on my WRX and the side walls flexed so bad it rubbed the inner guards. Had to stiffen rear swaybars to max to stop body roll and guards rubbing. Feedback was poor and car pitched significantly under braking. Only saving grace it had over the Federal's is the wet grip was slightly better. Dry - 2 Wet - 2 Goodyear F1 - These were on the car before the Falkens. They were best in the wet, with dry being.... ok. Fedback was poor but better than the previous two. Dry - 3 Wet - 4 Pirelli P6000 - These were alright. In the dry and feedback there were OK but in the wet they left something to be desired. Dry - 5 wet - 3 Yokohama A-spec - These were fitted to my GTR after those Federal..... things. OK feedback and in the wet they were alright. In the dry they were good but not that good. Dry - 6 wet - 5 Pirelli P-Zero asimmetrico - Probably the best feedback tyre I've had. Sidewalls were stiff as and feedback was better than Michelin Pilot sport, but lacked the grip... which is why it's 2nd. Under braking pedals felt they had more bite, very little body roll. Dry - 8 Wet - 8 Bridgestone S-02 - Excellent grip I must say. Feed back was good and in the wet they were exellent. Dry - 8 Wet - 9 Michelin Pilot Sport - WOW is the only word I'm left with. Feed back was a tad bit less than P-Zero's, but the grip was sensational! Wet, dry, redline launches, the SOB would just smile and ask "please sir, may I have some more!" Sure it'll wheel spin doing redline launches, but the way it just hooked up was amazing. Dry - 10 Wet - 10 I've also had Continetial sports on the GTR but never really gave it a good fang around the track to give any good feedback. I also had Dunlop W-10's on the MR2 but only had it for 2 weeks because they're worn out. I've got Bridgestone Grid III on it now so we'll see how that goes.

Webber is sitting alone in 6th position. People tend to forget that the F1 standings are based on consistant performances, rather than one or 2 wins a season with DNF's left right and center. Best example, 2003 when Raikkonen only had 1 win but was 2 points shy of the drivers championship crown. It's no secret that Williams have a piss poor chassis. BMW are talking to Sauber for 06 because of their disatisfaction with Williams. Who would blame them? It's only 5 races of 16 races and who knows??? Remember in 98 when EVERYBODY thought it was going to be a clean sweap for Mclaren, only to have a Ferrari comeback which went down to the wire? God I sounds like an old man recalling these instances.. lol.

I've just brought a helmet from Revolution racegear and was wondering what was that sticker that you have to look out for??? I remember there was a few stickers on it, one was a British standard one or something??? It's at home so I'll post up later what stickers are on it. Helmet is for trackdays and stuff and CAMS doesn't specify anything on it's website, or maybe I'm just not looking in the right places. Also I wanted my helmet painted. Where can I get this done? Preferably in Sydney. Thanks!

Thoughts on Tein Coilovers
Silver-Arrowz replied to PSI_GTSII's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I checked out Bilstien adjustable coil overs for my car and quoted $3500 at heersman in Tempe. If I had the cash, yeah I'd get them. Tien spring rates are too stiff. I don't know why but people try to eliminate body roll with stiff springs and shocks. Simplest way to remove body roll is sways. -
Fingers cross Webber don't bog down on launch. I want to see him brake super late into the first corner! It's SO hard to chose who to barrick for. Webber cause he's an aussie. Kimi cause I'm a maclarens man. And Toymotor cause I own one now... Why couldn't Ron Dennis sign Webber up and I buy a merc??? I'm such a cheap b@stard!

Where do you watch motorsport?
Silver-Arrowz replied to Duncan's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
I watch speed week. Yeah 10 they blab on too much. If cable had a race only channel, I'd subscribe in a heartbeat. I'd like to see some german DTM's! -
