It's got nothing to do with being worth the same as a new Kia. It's got everything to do with the likely hood of the car being stolen. History tells insurance companies that skylines are a target for theives therefore premiums go up. Pretty simple.

Not entirely true, I'm pretty sure the 07-08 350Z has the same engine as the V36 350GT Skyline sedan. Both have the VQ35HR engine. As far as i know, engine parts like filters, plugs, etc etc are the same. Really not sure about running gear like brakes, and obv panels and interior are entirely different.

Love quad tips when done properly. I think you really need to be careful about the size, as too big and they look crap. If, sorry when, i get the V36 sedan, prob one of the first things i do. Like dis!

Exactly!! If you look at it logically, the V is spec'd same as a 350Z but with two extra seats, so that means $70k+ back in 03 when the v was launched. If history is anything to go by, it'll be the exact opposite. Aus delivered cars will depreciate like the rest of the market, where as the a$$ will fall out of imports. Have a look at private import cars. People bring thier beemers over from the UK when they move here and depending on the model, I've seen them sell for anything up to 10-15 thousand less than Aus delivered BMW's. Another example is the Aus GTR, the few that came from Japan are generally selling for at least $10k less.

I like the Defi cluster, but pretty sure it wasn't available outside of Japan. think i read somewhere about $2.5k.

I would recommend trying to find some sort of article which shows when the 350Z and others became illegal. If you can show teh car was bought by you for use by you before this day, hopefully the excemption should be sweet. This though throws up a massive problem for people who don't have the cars in their own name, ie parents names for whatever reason. Just making assumptions though.

+1. Actually, have you used the export lap feature? If yes, pick a clean lap, export it to your email, and send it to Harry's site. He should be able to use that to add Wakie to his track database
