i think weve gone around in circles enough but for those who have missed it; yes you may brand me as a hoon, so be it but i accept that and i accept that as an import owner i am likely to be picked on by the authorities? why, becuase my car fits in the "majority of bad dudes" bucket. i simply accept that and move on with my life. yes its frustrating and annoying but thats one of the dilemma's you accept when you own a high performance import car. you are going to get picked on and selected out of a bunch, thanks to the majority. and hey if you aren't doing anything wrong and have no illegal modifications then you have nothing to worry about, right ? many other people on the forum are of the same opinion, you will get picked on as an import owner. they accept and just move on. we have local law enforcement reading these forums and they themselves probably know the same style, pick on the import owners. their own bosses are probably telling them too.
-
i dont recall a long burnout. my car is road worthy, but has illegal modifications. like many others on this forum. for those who dont like being picked on and selected out, from the majority of other car owners. like yourself, then you should perhaps consider an alternate car. as like i said owning an import is likely to put you in the bad bucket along with all the other bad "branded" import owners. im in that bucket too. it simply means accept it and move on. not have a 6 page thread about how bad the cops are so forth
-
then perhaps you should consider your vehicle of choice. it is likely that as an import owner, and twice likely a high performance one to be branded a hoon, to be charged higher premiums for insurance, to be picked on more by authorities, as under their eyes the majority of the owners of these types of cars are hoons and do misbehave. if you dont like that, which is fine, then you should move away from the majority group.

why do you feel its wrong? the police offer was under the impression it was too loud and therefore thought you should get it tested to find out. whats the problem? why is it wrong? you passed the test didnt you, so whats the problem? do you think he should have instead have chosen a 1996 holden commodore and sent that to get its exhaust tested instead? which do you think was more likely to fail?

sure lesson learnt, but at what cost? what if a child had run out to catch his dog one deceased child and one likely deceased or injured driver. the driver would have tried last minute abort attempt, likely lost control and killed the child and themselves. but again we could play the what if game all day so its best we dont

well i thought it was obvious, they do care what you drive, thats why there law is there. the law believes that it is not safe for a p plater that lacks experience to driver a car over a given power level. what part of that dont you understand? calling them cops on an open forum hardly gives the skyline community a good reputation as well. it seems the poeple who complain are the people breaking the same set of rules or laws. im not a fan of being shafted either cos i own an import, but my car is like many others illegally modified and if i am picked on for doing so, then be it. i accept that and basically just cop it sweet. it doesnt give me a great stance and a chance to say nah nah the cops always pick on us import owners. of course they will

this is likely to be as both engines make different power given the same boost pressure. that is the rb25det turbine will be spinning lots faster at 1bar boost pressure than the rb20 turbine
-
the point is, it doesnt matter. the majority of high performance owners are likely to be breaking the law, or at least 80% more likely to break than law than your average mum and dad. and whats it all comes down to, the majority of the bad dudes. an owner with a high performance (or even high performance looking car) is much more likely to have illegal modifications and have done some form of illegal activity than my gf's dad's uncle's friend who is 55 and drives a falcon futura wagon. so who do you think they are gonna go for and assume is doing the wrong thing?
-
its a case of majority break the rules so the majority suffer. and chances are pulling over a high performance import the owner is likely to have broken a rule or a few. and yes tracid you were breaking the law, high powered vehicle

Anyone In Melbourne With A Series Ii Stag

oh stagea bah humbug -
agree with dave, the manual clearly states how to perform the installation and its a simple step by step. there is no magical street fighter 2 up down left right up down punch punch punch combo to make it in special tune mode or anything. its simply plug and play.

Throphies for the drag day will not be ready at this stage. The SAU commitee would like to apologise for any inconvience caused.

perform stock ecu diag and confirm its the sensor first the car wont start with a dead crank angle sensor unplug and see if it starts if it wont rev past 2100 then check airflow meter plug also check the obvious, do you have oil any blowby in the intake piping? (near the rubber joiners)

it was probably cheaper and lighter in wieght, which means faster response. its like oem would be worried about how it went at 12psi for extended periods of time as this was beyond the factory scope/specs. sure they would have tried it for a few laughs, but its well within acceptable for factory configuration

Rb26 Turbo Comparision Graph (from Latest Hpi Mag)
paulr33 replied to CruiseLiner's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
>So looking at race cars that use turbos, why are IHI, KKK and Garrett used rather then HKS/Trust etc? i would expect it would come down to bearing types, compressor options and also compressor maps. without a compressor map the turbo is a bit of an unknown and offers no benefit for a race team. why go with something unknown when you can select everything you need from a map -
sounds good and somewhat useful. altho if you live in your own house what parents are they gonna tell? haha

Mysterious Pfc Missfire In An R32 Gtr
paulr33 replied to itbmils's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
ask myc.com.au how much to get a new PFC code installed on it (if they'll let you that is). you may find it cheaper and easier to buy a new PFC from nengun. but that guarantee's nothing at all. the key to this i guess would be to find someone who has an RB26 32/33 ECU that doesn't have this problem, then look at what version they have. then ask nicely if you can swap FC's with them for a week and see if the bug follow's the FC with the bad version. if so then you'll know what the good version FC to go for is. sell your known bad version on ebay and look for a specific version FC -

1. if you pop the cover off youll see the NEC 78P3 processor, it will be part of the model number, it will be the biggest chip on the board. take a pic for recon purposes and post up or send to us please if its the 78P3 it cant be reflashed, as its a burn once chip 2. newest version not sure, i guess anyone with a recent Rb26 PFC, purchased in the last few months is likely to have the latest code on it 3. i know geniunine apexi dealers can fix/warranty and possibly flash/upgrade your PFC to a newer version but i believe this is only on $1500 PFC's purchased from like MYC or an aus dealer -
driving over 40km/h isnt dangerous they just have you believe it is, so the laws enforce this

of course this could be settled at a pub with a beer and a pencil and a calculator if HKS released their compressor maps. -
