  1. from my understanding its a more 'fair' way of measuring power, adjusting to the atmospheric and other conditions of the location of the dyno, making figures done at 40deg at 1000metres above sea level directly comparable to those done at 0deg at sea level...? maybe i'm wrong (again)
  2. maybe your cat is seriously blocked and f****d? just an idea...
  3. do you have a pic of your car wit hthe springs in? i'm interested but don't want it too low (one person's opinion on 'its not too low' and another person's opinion can be totally different...)
  4. nah i'll drop the rear tyres to 15psi and run 7's hopefully
  5. nah there were too many cars there to stop and do stuff... eeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr to me!
  6. are you trying to say that upping the boost isn't giving an increase in power? or are you saying that your car is slower than normal and its not boost related?
  7. surely it can't be all that much to find an rb25 head?
  8. what about if you take off the oil cap and shine a torch in? how much can you see?
  9. well i think they only get a page each from the notepad as i still need it for writing down stuff at work...
  10. ok here's the story... for quite a while, the car has been doing this weird miss at idle. very inconsistent and gets worse when the car gets warm. really weird in that it would seemingly go away when the car is put into gear  so then took the car to the dyno day and was quite annoyed to hear that the car was pinging on the dyno. many ideas were running through my head which i posted in the poll... so went down to see my mate Prassana at Performance Jap Specialist (9357 0658) as he has an r32 half cut there. he let me drive my car up and change over anything i thought might be causing the problem, and hte deal was to jsut pay for what the fix was. good deal i though. i changed: - coils (got one and swapped it with all of mine to see if it fixed the problem) STILL MISSING - afm STILL MISSING - O2 sensor STILL MISSING so feeling dejected, i went home and changed the spark pugs but it was STILL MISSING! At this stage i suspected the fuel pump as it explained all my problems, but i also thought in the back of my mind that it could be a blocked cat. I was sure it wasn't the timing as when i had the GTR cams put in the timing would have to be re-done by my mechanic. well on sunday, i washed my car and was armourall-ing the interior when dad comes into the garage and starts talking about the miss. we decide to check the timing. already have the coil cover off (the plate that says nissan twin cam whatever) so plugged the timing light into cylinder 1 and started her up THE TIMING WAS MASSIVELY OUT! i think it was retarted (i had to turn the cas clockwise to bring it to 15deg btdc). would have been out about 10deg at least. i was shocked. so i adjusted it and took her for a drive down the street. WOW all the problems fixed. Wanted to give that timing light a ramming i was so happy if only it were fixed before the dyno day! congratulations to the winners of "SAU VIC Armchair Tuners of the Year", 2004: - fire_bringer_ - GTS-070 - Kor'axis - MR R33 GTST - Zahos only 5 out of 42 got it right well hopefully that brought some extra entertainment into the VIC section for a few days... cheers, Warren.
  11. fuel pump on its way out? fuel filter blocked? checked your timing? faulty ptu? good luck! Waz.
  12. try this: - locate the fuel lines that run into the fuel rail - locate the return line (not attached to the fuel filter) - now with the engine warm and at idle, get some long-nose pliers and clemp down the return line from my understanding, if the revs rise dramatically then your injectors are blocked or your fuel system is not running eficiently hope this helps! Waz...
  13. yeah davor they should fit the stock rear bar try: Japanese Special Vehicles 353 settlement road, thomastown 9466 4499 or Julian on 0419 512 093

  16. still deciding whether to give the winner an R34GTR, or this monash university notepad that i have sitting next to me
  17. stay tuned ... answer coming tomorrow afternoon ...! winning prize also to be announced...
  18. i have a stock rb20det intercooler and piping in melbourne $50 plus postage if you want PM me cheers, Warren.
  19. too true. best way to learn is from exerience. we can sit here all day speculating, but at the end of the day if you take the car to the strip and do a change @ 4400rpm and the car drops off boost, then i guarantee you will never do it again. try different shift points in different gears and you will learn alot. my 2c... oh, and when you find a good shift point combo, post it up for others in future with the same question
  20. if there were no rb26dett and the rb25det were the 'best' engine that nissan offered in the skyline, then i'm sure more people would have pushed their money into the rb25... (not to say its not capable of these figures because i'm sure it is)
  21. the law also states "give way to your right" and in the instance mentioned, the car in the left lane is to give way to the car in the right lane as for the poll, i ought an MA70 1987 toyota supra (NA DOHC3.0) when i was 16 and drove this while i was on my P's. then bought my r32 about 1.5years ago when i was still on my P's. haven't crashed either or even gotten a speeding ticket! (touch wood) can say that the supra tought me alot about driving though and i am glad that i didn't jump straight into a turbocharged car
  22. wow could have sworn i only pulled 108rwkw
  23. haha its amazing how everyone says different things, although it really could have been any of the options and even soem others i didn't list... results coming soon...
  24. not too sure myself, but i can offer that burning oil will look blue and running too rich will be black... is your bumper full of 'soot' after a drive? if so probably running too rich. have soemone drive behind you when this happens and get them to do an assessment of the colour and amount of smoke coming out most cars blow a puff of black smoke on a full throttle change due to the rich nature of the fuel maps... i can make some suggestions but they are by no means from anything other than my own personal experience and i ain't no mechanic: - try changing your plugs (gap them to 0.8mm) - try changing your O2 sensor (same asthe one from the EL falcon apparently) oh and it could just be your BOV, try putting the stocker back on and see how it goes good luck! Waz.
