  1. hi newbie.. welcome
  2. yeah agreed, but if we flame every newbie then they will all run away scared
  3. anjoO, please excuse those youngsters on here with a short fuse you did explain that you didn't know much.. remember we all start here nowing nothing, but hanging around and reading/posting is what makes you learn. please don't take any posts to heart newbie i'll try to explain it easily for you: combustion happens in the cylinders - a chemical reaction occurs between the air and fuel and this creates exhaust gas. where does this exhaust gas go? well it has to get out of the cylinders so that more air and fuel can get in. there are valves at the top of cylinders that open up and the exhaust gas leaves. it flows through an exhaust manifold, and over the exhaust wheel of the turbo (the turbo is basically a long pole with a wheel at each end - one end sticks into the exhaust gas and one end sticks into the intake air) so gas flows over the exhaust wheel and is now into what most would call the exhaust. so you've passed the turbo now, everything from here is "turbo-back" gas is still up at the engine, just having passed over hte exhaust wheel of the turbo, and it is into the next pipe which is the dump pipe. this is a short piece of pipe that connects to the front pipe the front pipe runs down under the car and bolts onto a catalytic converter. now i know you've heard of this device.. if not, its a container filled with chemicals that lets exhaust gas through it and reacts with the gas to remove any nasties after flowing through the cat you are now in what is termed "cat-back" which is simply a pipe that goes to the back of the car. you might find a resonator or somewhere here to make the car less droney, but you will definately find a muffler at the end to damp down the sound so, to summarise: (this shows the names of the pipes that the exhaust gas flows through to get out) cylinder --> exhaust manifold --> turbo --> dump pipe --> front pipe --> cat --> cat-back hope that helps Warren
  4. i just don't understand... so you have read the post about intercooling an NA... but you did it anyway???? i mean, don't just look at it, READ IT we were writing these things for a reason - its just not going to do ANYTHING
  5. its definately an rb25 turbo but there's no way to tell if that is series 1 or 2 other than the nylon compressor - and you can't tell from that pic. mine has a darck black plastic compressor wheel, but i couldn't tell until i got the turbo and looked with a flash light! $500 for series 2 is not all that bad.. 400 would be a good price
  6. no gasket means metal on metal, and this will leak air.. that's your problem
  7. find the leak.. did you use a gasket when you put it on? try spraying water with dishwashing liquid in it over the bov and look for any bubbles that might indicate a leak.. cheers, Warren
  8. anyone organising a group-buy? if so put me in for one...

  11. PS this happened in North-West suburbs and also now that i'm in Brisbane, so its not just the far SE
  12. i have also been the victom of this... i found my car bottled once on the passenger side rear quarter just behind the window. came to my car and the alarm beeped 3 times saying the alarm had been off. i went around the other side to find a bottle smashed on the ground and galss and a dint on my car i have also had my car egged (dried egg and eggsheel stuck on the side of the car) whilst it was parked on the street and finally, i've been keyed which is the obvious way to f*** up an entire side of the car. so, you aren't alone Rhett.. those barstards might have had their time to laugh, but they will be driving around in VL commonwhores for the rest of their life.. and i will be cruising around in somethign far nicer for the rest of my life Waz.
  13. nah mate, don't worry about wisdom teeth obviously there will be swelling, but i had no pain at all just remember this important thing: buy plenty of juice and icecream i lived on juice and icecream for 2 days and had fish+chips for my first meal and it was easy to eat and bloody awesome! oh, and i lost 4kgs in 4 days! anyway, july is great for 'the event' cheers, Warren
  14. usualyl about 100-150 for i hour worth of playing around plus some print outs you can just get a power run for about 50-70or so i think
  15. do it they can adjust your timing and diagnose any fautls with the car plus, its great to check the overall condition of your engine and gearbox
  16. those dyno graphs posted have different number plates on them tuning shops always use the number plate of the car when they are tuning as a reference, and have no reason to not use it i can't think of any reason they would be different?? they also have different Motec corrections (i have no idea of what this means, but i know it affects their outputs) anyway... there's a nice imporovement in torque there.. you gotta be happy with that! anyway
  17. SmoothLine... my naturally inquisitive mind sees that there appears to be 2 groups of numbers that you have 'randomly' allocated one group from 1 onwards one group from 50 onwards am i onto something? he he
