Moving To Australia W/ A Gtr As A Bonus?
WazR32GTSt replied to js3324's topic in General Automotive Discussion
haha no don't lie.. melbourne is great it depends on the lifestyle you lead and the lifestyle you want for your time overseas... Melbourne is great if you like places to eat, drink, go out There's always something to do and a new place to go Brisbane is like a big country town in some ways -
Your Advice. I Have A "good" Dilemna Here
WazR32GTSt replied to LatinR33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
extra lag? seriously you won't notice anything difference. those that tell you it make any difference are kidding themselves the only downside to getting a FMIC is the cost. that is alreay taken care of in your case (some nice friends you have) it basically means your car will never detonate due to excess intake temps. ever. what's the downside to that? plus it looks great with a nice big FMIC sitting in the front bumper.. put it on. love it. stop procrastinating - book it in tomorrow! -
Moving To Australia W/ A Gtr As A Bonus?
WazR32GTSt replied to js3324's topic in General Automotive Discussion
it depends on your course really Having studied in Melbourne and Brisbane, i'd easily recommend Monash university if in melbourne or the University of Queensland (UQ)if in brisbane. they are by far the best universities in each state I have heaps of canadians, americans, and othe internationls in my course at UQ (studying graduate medicine) and they love it. The reasons i recommend brisbane is: - east coast of australia where there are more people and cheap flights to sydney/melbourne - 45mins to gold coast - great place to see for a tourist - 45mins to sunshine coast - the best beaches that i have seen in australia (just better than those over in perth) - awesome weather, particularly in our winter. its hot but without much rain - relaxed lifestyle, which is good when you are studying And there are a heap of japanese imports in brisbane - skylines, wrx's, etc. cheers, Warren -
man, what's with that weekend.. there are about a million things to do, and i'm going down to melbourne keenly await the next meetup...
-
ellie - cheers roy - of course i do. that's part of the reason why i wanted to go cam gears as i thought they might bring that bit extra out of the rb26 cams. but i always worry that whenever someone play around with things in that region it will fail to idle like others have found.. fingers crossed they know what they are doing! will put up dyno graph when its done what does everyone think about a power rise from the rb25 turbs and can gears? i'm hoping for 15rwkw top-end plus some mid... (PS to those who usually jump in here.. please let's not get this whole rb26 cam thing started again!)

yeah when he said abotuhe fuel pump i knew it should be considered, but was hesitant when the 300 came out it does make sense - most profit for the least work.. after all they are a business i might just do it without the fuel pump, and do some research in the next few days about what to get fitted, and then i can buy one myself (save them marking the price up too) and then get it fitted in the next few weeks.. i am going back for some king springs soon so can get that done with it

X-force Turboback Exhaust On R32 Gts-t
WazR32GTSt replied to sammus's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
what about a BATMBL 3" dump pipe, a BATMBL 3" cat, and a custom-made 3" cat-back from an exhaust shop? would end up being about 900 fitted, but you can get it to sit higher than stock (like mine is - perfect if you want to lower the car) -
GTST - i'll PM you once its all installed with the cost (as i don't think its right to quote figures over the internet) tey are a sponsor of hte SAU-qld club so do labour for cheaper if you are a SAU-qld member also, they have a 4wd dyno and a dedicated s15 that they race, so they are quite the professional outfit let me know when you come up and i'll take you out there if you like.. as for the fuel pump issue... i was told that the reason they preferred walbro over bosch is that they are easier to install.. he actually said that the gtst pump would probably hold up ok, but the fact that its 14 years old is not worth the risk.. and the gtr pump would pose the same issues as its euqally as old car is booked in for monday.. can't wait to see the difference it makes. last power figure was 132rwkw (with 10.5:1 AFRs), so add in rb25 turbo and cam gears and hopefully something over 140rwkw should be attainable

time for an update... in perth i visited a parts shop and picked up an elbow pipe for $15 !! so now i'm set for the turbo and.. visited our friends at Mercury Motorsport, ordered cam gears and booked in rb25 turbo install, cam gear install, and cam gear tune on the dyno they guy suggested fuel pump and told me about a $350 walbro option.. i suggested a gtr pump that i know i can get for $100ish, but he said they are old and not worth it. did the gtr pump work ok for you, gordo? anyone else had any experience with fuel pumps after an rb25 install?

Optimax Extreme For R32 Gtst
WazR32GTSt replied to TutsR32's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I use it. I love it. -
haven't heard of mango hill, but best of luck with the move we will have to organise a thai night to welcome you in when you arrive (and, so i can check out your car)
-
well i have the turbo, i may as well get it installed. if the lag sucks, i'll just bite the bullet and get some cam gears... now, if i can jsut find some barstard that will actually sell me their elbow pipe, then i'm in business if i had a dollar for everyone that "didnt want to separate" or "sold it already" then i would have a GTR by now...
-
i'd love to take you up on that offer, gordon, but i am unfortunately going to perth for the weekend and i leave tomorrow morning! no boost until 3500rpm?? or full boost at 3500rpm?? The guy i spoke to said it would lag by about 500rpm more than the rb20 turbo maybe i should be looking at intalling an exhaust cam gear at the same time.. i want to keep the car drivable, after all, as its a daily driver.. hmmm exhaust cam gear (maybe $150), plus labout maybe an hour ($70), then tuning ($100). its not so cheap, but if i'm going to do it i might as well do it properly... but then if i go down this path, i really ought to be looking at ECU and fuel pump. i've already got some sort of chipped ECU in there but it runs way too rich. will the fuel pump hold up ok with just an rb25 turbo? so many questions..! sorry..
-
i really want to know about the lag issue.. i don't want it to be too lagy as its an automatic and is gutless enough down low as it is...
-
so i assume you're bringing the 32 up? oh, and i highly recommend New Farm / Teneriffe for a place to stay
-
i don't have the elbow... so that means the compressor does have to be rotated? i still thought the comperssor outlet would be in the same position... can anyone else shed some light?
-
ok... sorry to bring up my old thread, but having since decided the time has come to get this rb25 turbo installed, i have started making some enquiries... Have visited 2 very reputable workshops in brisbane, both quoting about $300-400 to install it. the thing that got me worried, is that one workshop said that it would be very laggy.. and that its not a very good upgrade. this workshop also said its difficult to install as the compressor has to be rotated (?) so is this true? or should i steer clear of that workshop? and for those that do have an rb25 turbo on rb20... how much extra lag was there? cheers, Warren

Troy in QLD ...look out... his reputation preceeds him!

Ct26 Turbo Upgrade On R32 Gts-t
WazR32GTSt replied to CATKICKER's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
when looking for bolt-on cheap upgrades, as a rule of thumb, its usually safest to try to stick with the same make, and even more so with the same engine series eg turbo upgrade for gtr is s15 turbo turbo upgrade for r32 is r33 turbo brake upgrade for s13 is r32 brakes etc. etc. -
R32 Gts-t 3" Turbo Back System Power?
WazR32GTSt replied to r32line's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
not quite... turbo bolts onto dump pipe then to front pipe, then to cat, then cat-back an aftermarket 3" cat back won't give any power increase over another 3" cat-back the difference will come from fitting a dump/front pipe and the high-flow cat... good luck, Warren -
metal on metal.. does it sound like its coming from the turbo? it could be on its way out otherwise i have no idea
-
you can buy them from justjap for $150 just get them painted and fitted by a panel beater... otherwise you could cut the front bar yourself with a pneumatic saw...
-
jrocket, yes, type m is an upper spec model that had some optional extras BUT.. what you must realise is that >95% of skylines are in fact type M. And, even the non-type M cars have most of the options that the type M had anyway! almost anything could be optioned in when bought new in japan, thus 5 different type M cars will all probably have different options, but will all be type M at the end of the day, if a car is not advertised as type M, assume it is a type M unless stated otherwise. If you want to post pics up of the car, we can point out whether its one to steer clear of or not. happy car hunting Waz

hey Adz, i'm looking for an rb25 "elbow pipe" that bolts onto the comnpressor outlet of the rb25 turbo. its a 30cm long bit of pipe that turns like an elbow cheers, Warren

awesome car mate... love the 32 4-door! love the colour! got any specs? did you end up getting that rb25 turbo for it? moving up here for work? what do you do? can't think of any place to eat in spring hill.. you're pretty close to caxton st.. why not try there for something? a mate of mine owns a bar called 'ludo' and they serve an awesome steak! Or you could walk down to the valley.. there's an awesome The land of goat sphincter rings restraunt called 'mecca bah' or one of the many chinese restraunts.. as for thai.. well i'm still searching for the best restraunt in the area.. right now the best stuff still comes from my stove Warren.
