  1. if $$ weren't an issue, i would have a full-time laptop just for the car so i could permanently display the info!.. jst realised i have a serial connection on my laptop. may as well use nissan datascan as i have that loaded on my laptop do i need to use the null modem when connecting to my laptop?
  2. hmmm well unless i spend heaps of cash geting this serial consult interface cable to work, its useless to me anyway maybe i should see if caz will let me change my serial consult to a usb consult interface cable so at least i can use it on my laptop.. seems like i might have to ditch the whole pda idea then
  3. what are my moves if: a) usb keyboard works? b) usb kyboard no worky.. EDIT: this is going to be hardto test and my cable is usb mini female to usb male, so would have to BUY a female-to-female adaptor to plug a keyboard in.. i don't actually understand why the "usb consult interface" cable (as opposed to serial) doesn't work.. does it need "host" functionallity to work with that?
  4. have checked the connection settings but can't see any description of what each of the ports are for... doing a search on the net...
  5. no, an SD slot and i haven't got a usb mouse or keyboard yeah it hasn't got host functionallity.. found it here: http://pocketpcmag.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=18843 so what is my next move don't tell me i'm screwed.. just paid $130 for these cables.................
  6. have the software loaded already.. comes up with com ports 1,2,3,4,5,7,9
  7. http://www.mypdacafe.com/articles.php?id=219 the above link thinks that most PDAs are a usb "host"
  8. that's why i was initially talkaing about the "consult to usb" cable as i thought it might be easier than "consult to serial"... have not tried to plug a mouse in, only sync and charge i'll check in the manual/settings to see if its a host or device...
  9. here are some images: - serial consult interface - null modem (just like you said, newkleer) - now there's the bottom of my PDA and its only input the other hole is a headphone jack) - and finally the plug that fits into it: a mini usb. the only cable i can find that has a mini usb on one end has a normal usb at the other... so you can see why i am confused?
  10. Gengis: no.. the XDA II is a bit older so has a different plug to connect to it and so the sync cable won't plug in NewKleer: i have an XDA II mini.. there is only one input/output to the device and its a mini usb port. So i HAVE to somewhere convert this usb signal back into something else! you would think a serial sync cable would be good.. but they don't make one for my PDA! that link you posted is for the O2 XDAII, not the O2 XDAII mini... so, i have to connect one end of the null modem to my PDA (which has mini usb as its only input)...
  11. ok i'm going to sound stupid again, but i need more help, NewKleer... have purchased and recieved: - serial consult inteface cable - null modem so.. now i have to connect a male rs232 plug to a mini-USB in order to get this stuff connected.. my problem: they don't make mini-usb to serial sync cables for my pda.. i have spent house looking for them on the net with NO luck what are my solutions? i have a mini-usb to normal usb cable here.. can i get a usb to rs232 female adaptor and plug that into the null modem? what else can i do? wanting to get this workng asap.. cheers, Warren
  12. let us know how you go..
  13. i have a 3" dump/front in one already.. hardly see the point buying a split when i have a 3" one already but that can be easily changed with the turbo on if i want to do it later.. my point with the exhaust manifold is that it will be very easily accessible with the turbo off, thus this might be the best (only) time i could get to it without removing hte turbo again.. how much would it cost to extrude hone an exhaust manifold? would doing it to the stock manifold actually make any difference at all? PS thanks for the reply sydneykid
  14. hey mate do you have the elbow-shaped bit of pipe that bolts onto the exit of the rb25 turbo compressor outlet? want to sell it separately? or are you using it with your new turbo? cheers, Warren
  15. no that will cost me more than the turbo all up! has anyone ever extrude honed their stock manifold? is this worth it with such a small turbo upgrade?
  16. Z32 = orange sticker RB20/25 = green sticker
  17. ok, so if you refer to my other thread (http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=109753&hl=) you will see that i am going to bolt an rb25 turbo onto my rb20 i hate the thought of paying for labour costs, so i though to myself "what else can i get done while the turbo is off?" so my questions is: do you think its worth upgrading the exhaust manifold while the turbo is off? --> i now those cheap ebay items can be nasty, but are they ok for this application? --> what about doing an extrude hone? i have read somewhere previously that you can maximise flow without compromising the design and fast spooling of the stock manifold? or am i pushing shit uphill with a pointed stick here? also... please no armchair tuners.. want advice from those wither either past experience or knowledge.. cheers, Warren PS sydneykid - where are you? help me out!
  18. maybe your radiator cap is not holding enough pressure? mine has sat between min and max for 3years now...
  19. a new STOCK R32 back in the early 90s would run a mid-6 0-100 time take a plain STOCK one now, even with a good driver, and show me anything lower than a 7sec time and i'll run around australia nude..
  20. gday mate i have an rb20det and last time i had mine serviced they used the kit from a late model R31 apparently the same gearbox externally (some internal differences only)
  21. hey mate willingto sell intake pipes separate? i'm after the first elbow-shaped bit of pipe that bolts onto the compressor outlet of the turbo PM me cheers, Warren
