  1. how about this example... a stock rb20 vs stock telstar tx5 turbo I can tell you that in stock form the telstar, with its 2.2L engine makes the same amount of power now, add an exhaust, FMIC, and 12psi boost to each of them I can tell you that the rb20 will make so much more power that its not funny And this is from experience. my mate bought a stock tx5 turbo at teh same time i bought my rb20 which was stock. We built the cars doing about the same amount of mods and the last time i raced him (at calder) i won by > 5 carlengths. I can tell you this was not initially the case. So, in summary, my point is that stock figures are good up to a point, but do not directly correlate with a good base to generate further power from. it depends moreso on other factors.
  2. this happened to me when i had my rb25 turbo installed onto rb20 my problem was that the actuator arm had come loose from the wastegate
  3. does he know his corvette's? or is he an autoelectrician? or both? the only place i have found so far is www.corvette.com.au they seem to kmnow their shit but they are half way to bundaberg!
  4. what company is making these? i have been looking for a set for my r32 and would like to know if they make r32 ones also!
  5. So here's the story... I have recently acquired a 1986 chevrolet corvette Its currently in melbourne, but being shipped up to brisbane in the next couple of weeks The problem i have is that the car, with the alarm off, will go flat in less than a week without being driven... and its got a new battery! this does not sound normal to me, as my r32 has sat, with the alarm on for 3 weeks before and the car started firt go. So i suspect something is draining the battery while its sitting there. As a temporary measure i will be installing a connector to the +ve terminal to disconnect the battery easily whenever its garaged, but i want to do something about this when it arrives. Anyone able to help a fellow SAU member out? And, for future reference, anyone know of a workshop with experience with corvette's? cheers, Warren PS car sounds like a f***** BEAST!! (has a twin 2.5" stainless cat-back system) makes my r32 sound like a honda in comparison
  6. thanks everyone for pointing out the obvious thing that i didn't write the rb20/25 afms are the same.. which i obviously wrote in the second post i got the impression this guy thoughthe could "upgrade" by simply putting in a z32 afm and drive away i was trying to point out that this is not the case and he should be sourcing the same afm for his car that it already has cheers, Warren
  7. "once he hit boost" so when he hit 1psi at around 2000rpm n first gear it was all over? and it didn't matter that the other car was also turbocharged? i smell BS...
  8. the "green label" AFM is simply the rb20 item. that's how you distinguish it from other models which look quite similar green label = rb20/rb25 orange label = z32 pink label = q45
  9. on an rb20det, only the rb20 AFM will work if you want to change the AFM, then you need a different ECU that can handle the change in sensors so if you have the stock ECU then the only AFM you can use is the rb20 item that was designed for the car. make no mistake, believe nothing else. as mentioned, search "solder AFM" and you will find the answer to your problems of how to fix a broken AFM
  10. as these cars are not new and stock, the stock figures mean nothing.. the cars are much slower initilaly than stock figures suggest due to the process of ageing. plus, stock figures are recorded at optimun conditions with race drives and, most importantly, most (if not EVERY) skyline is modified (yes, your cat-back/air filter is a modification even if you call it stock). so the times you record are more of a reflection of how modified the car is. Warren
  11. some nice midrange gains there - up to 12rwkw in most areas and 20rwkw at 5000rpm! had it been on the dyno pre-exhaust? it must have made around 10-15rwkw less at the peak plus heaps less in the midrange
  12. i think 2rismo means that cities have a different barometric pressure depending on their height above sea level, thus showing zero boost at a high altitude will in fact be a manifold pressure above the atmospheric pressure at that location but the difference will be minimal and most of us live in cities at sea level, so who really cares?
  13. pepsi then? as long as you know its all good, then it really is all good
  14. mate as i said don't worry aobut it no it won't cause any change in function of your bov no it won't change your air:fuel mixtures yes it will show you the correct boost pressure have a coke and a smile now
  15. why not? if there's no zero then there's no reference...
  16. so you have proof that the fuel caused the line damage and it wasn't in fact simply the age of the car? or some other reason? think about it - 5% ethanol in fuel makes up a very small overall volume of ethanol that is in a fuel line at any one time add to that that ethanol is not corrosive and i don't see the issue whenever someone has a problem its natural to try to place some blame - i don't think optimax extreme is the answer
  17. AFM is the problem do a search on "AFM solder" and you will find your answer
  18. i just went down to the factory where they make these leatherette seat covers in melbourne and had a look and spoke to the guy who makes them they seem pretty genuine so i bought a set of front/rears in ivory colour including the wrinkly style and nissan logo and handbrake cover made for the r32 delivered to brisbane for 680 get them in about a week too! will post pics when i have them in
  19. don't worry about it - its fine
  20. if you're worried about power, put the car on the dyno and get it checked out
  21. i went there nearly 3 years ago when i was looking for my car called him, asked questions about the car, price etc. drove from near the airport all the way over there (aver an hour) and he says "nah that price doesn't include compliance. that'll be another 5 grand". dodgy prick.
  22. i have an autoguage boost guage and it works fine big price doesn't always mean better product
  23. thread on exactly what is needed: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=109753 thread on the results: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=115398
