mine are 4.3 front/rear. I understand the short first gear. to me that would get this thing off the line a lot quicker.
what ratios are in the 6 speeder?
differences in the front frame rails for one. I would look at where the pickup points for the front crossmember are and start there. if the pickups are in the same spot I would do a literal drop of the front of yours and toss it in the GTR shell. the reverse wont work so if youare going to do major work on teh otehr shell I would suggest making a jig to roll it around on.
as fro doing the engine swap only - no. there are two engine blocks - 4wd and 2wd. they are not interchangeable. the 4wd is wider.
if they were it would have been a lot easier for me . ( I own a GTS4.) I have a WGNC34 RB25 to go into mine.

no to the convertible idea. this thing twists enough with the roof panel off ..
yes to a point. to be honest it would be a case of me plugging into it with the launch and seeing what it does when it acts up. from there I could work out what causes it. note really something I want to get into as it sounds intermittent and could be a real bitch to track down.
better than the last attempt. fuel system needs attention though. I can see those lines causing cracks on that tank due to stress loading over time. I would have put a right angle fitting there myself.

regarding the boot area. if its back there - I want it. shoot some piccies across. what are teh last 6 dgits of the chassis number btw. (I'm going to look this car up in FAST.)
so for the sake of a couple of minutes you left it. if the light is on then there is a reason for it. get a rag , pull the stick and make sure there is oil in it. if that is the case then there is a bad connection somewhere.

given that there are several things different about them vs the old 5sp I have
what needs to change in order to fit one to a 32 chassis
I know that:
32 has cable speedo drive
driveshafts are probably the wrong length
clutch is reversed.
unsure of:
ATESSA setup (34 vs 32)
rear crossmember mounting points

sounds like you got a VERY STRONG bite out of it.
mind you ADR 79/02 is going to shake a few people. anything after 2008 ( I *think*) has to pass that one to gain entry.
as for the emmisions gag - like that one. reminded me of the drive by emmissions tests in california.
