  1. for IR - yes. for RF - no. whilst not in sydney - I have had a garmin unit in brisbane and it worked fine. mine (blau) never missed a beat in sydney and is quite consistent in brisbane. part if the reason a portable is not the best solution in dense areas.
  2. I would like to talk DIRECTLY to you . contact details in sig. I have access to a few hundred chinese suppliers ALL offering me a ALL in one box for that car. ampping turns out to be an issue, price and relaibility. as for the IR interface schematics - nup. I have them on paper and thats where I left them. I have played with a few 'cheap' all in one boxes and was not happy with the results. the pioneer AVIC HD3 gets my nod with the VDP unit attached. that is still $3k+ and does not cover TV. most of the cars that these guys owne have been done AT COMPLIANCE level. they did not have to ship the cars to me. I do travel from time to time (have a sydney run (COGDOG35) and a melbourne run due up) when I have time to do so. if you have the knowledge - reverse engineer the TV box and reverse engineer the radio. the latter I have the schematics for.
  3. anna, classic!
  4. air purifier is my thinking.
  5. god only knows. I reckon your two could do (and have) a better thread ..
  6. yep post them in there. note it as R34 when you do.
  7. good to see you got a bit of payback on the 'dud' spare. had the option as you know for the $260 tyres but as you know they had to be ordered. still puzzles me why they put $480 tyres on that car in the first place.
  8. trav, personal preference. I have a 32band on mine that is barely touched. in regard to the loudness button, leave it off. places additional strain on things as you already know.
  9. decent. put everything in the doors.
  10. what speakers do you have in mind - 65-70mm from memory - I do know that alpine type s fit in those. did a set about 6 months back - straight in.
  11. pop the ENTIRE AC vent panel out - two screws. remove ashtray - 1 screw. pop shift panel out unplug mode switch two screws pull entire assy out and unplug radio, antenna and AC controls. email me for antenna adapter and harness plugs without those you are wasting your time..
  12. jon, how much $$ do you want to spend on it? we'll start there. I can strip the lot out and STILL retain the screen or we can swap the radio out and keep the rest. will speak to you on tuesday about it when I pickup your car. they are different from the norm but it really doesnt worry me. I have the stuff on hand to take car of most things audio related. the whole exercise comes down to $$. these cars aren't the cheapest things to mod audio wise but they are DEFINITELY doable.
  13. show me what you have exactly. I can do it two ways. one uses the screen the other uses the radio. both are similar in cost. moe info fire me a PM. search IPOD and my name and that will net the display based one. the other is a custom solution.
  14. I was thinking - not another one amanda, yep you do have a spare tyre that you do not need now. (did you fix yours btw?)
  15. he has the tuner for it. I have the leads you need to make it stay working.
  16. screen will be in NTSC - if the unit spits that out then you are fine. yellow lead on teh screen in composite in (IE normal video.) doof, smart man
  17. up to you really. most people opt for the stick on glass things as a easy way out . they do tend to get lost and do strange things. the fixed items are a lot more robust so they give very little probelm. I have been using the GARMIN GVN52 in most of mine and have zero probelm with the unit. for the 34GTR thats the best route. for a 34 with OE screen (howie this is directed at you.) its your choice. I can have a DVD playing on that screen in minutes with the audio routed back out of the main radio OR with a bit of fiddling nav done in a similar fashion. still waiting to get my hands on a R35. have been asked to look at one in sydney but thats something I'm gong to wait on due to lack of time.
  18. ok putting it more bluntly - the nav unit alone is $1300 add cables and modding and time and you have little change from $1600.. I work on these things DAILY and that price tends to back people right off unless they are serious.
  19. I know where a set of those are had my hands on that car today..
  20. I would ask autowatch. there are sveral variants of it made by other people but the CATE is the most secure.
  21. and CATE. thats roughly what I did them for when they were available here in brisbane.
  22. yep you put he correct battery in there. probelm solved.
  23. 6" splits - new panel modded to fit 6" driver. rear 6x9 - new rear shelf.
