  1. need a japanese speaking bit of software you can put a few words into I think keep hacking at it.
  2. dunno. I can't see that happening myself. probably why they are hesitant to let the code loose. I know that with the earlier VDO/Blau nav discs you could copy them as many times as you liked. the later ones wont copy with out special software and that is only a torrent away anyway. I exhausted most of my japanese options on this. I have yet to apply a consult 3 to one of these cars (and for the $9k ask I probably wont for a fair while.) yet. if I can convince a dealer here in brisbane to let me connect a car to theirs then I'll have a bit of a play. the aftermarket ones will not access teh earlier J2534 cars but it will access the later CAN based ones. that was a $7600 ask btw. I have mules here so when I free up I'm going to grab one.
  3. so thats what you spent the rest of the night doing.. top stuff!
  4. cool. want me to do the radio when I see the car ( I do work for vision.)
  5. wise move. who's doing hte work on it? (suggest ISASO.)
  6. C-R-A-P!! I get asked to fit these things 2-3 times a week and after doing 3 of them and ALL of them falling over within two weeks of fitting. waste of $$.
  7. heated windscreen. must be a northern car. seen a couple of those.
  8. did you buy THAT car? if so I hope it was already complied . otherwise it ALL has to come apart.
  9. full alarm is easier to 'fix' when you destroy a remote key. the other way involves a trip to a dealer or in this case a email to japan to get a new key. if you have two OE keys then upgrade is fine. upgrades RELY on the OE remote key working. with out it no go.
  10. not bad why in the boot though?
  11. nope. you have to override the thing everytime you wish to move it.
  12. not quite, if the remote dies and you cannot get it working again you are screwed.. that is why I prefer full alarms.
  13. what happens when the key dies ?? can you disarm the alarm?
  14. good installer can work it out. would advise against the upgrade if you only have one key for the car. I have alrady had people asking me to program keys t them and at this point in time I cannot.
  15. correct. indeed. I import a lot of specific audio stuff for them as it is and most of it sits and gathers dust. now in comparison to other models most of that moves easily. depends. most people ASSUME that things are the same between the car (G35,350Z) and in some cases they are not. audio/electronics is point and case. they look the same but its not. as for lobbying. supply vs demand - no demand so no supply. give it a few years once these cars age a bit and things will be come more readily available. agree with the point of USDM items being cheaper than JDM. I get this same problem in my industry.
  16. nah, I work on too many of the cars. hell if I get time I'll put one together. what do we want in it?
  17. behaves as a BIG cd stacker. that the extent of it. the unit has rules to abide by but works quite well
  18. xanavi. they are not touch screen though. can be used as a VGA screen with fiddling. still need a keyboard though. never stripped one of them fully down but I'd be tempted to use a lilliput on one if I could get a decent laptop behind it like this : http://eeepc.asus.com/global/ runs linux as standard. have one in my van with a 3g router behind it. does the job quite well.
  19. give me the 4 pieces of it and I'll pay the freight. need the box from the rear of the car as well.
  20. fire a email addy at me and I'll send you my big book of relays ; has a few very cool kill switches in it. and its diagrammed.
  21. yep. drop it off. I'll pull the dash down again and have a dig for those harnesses as well.
  22. its on th eTV menu. have a fiddle until you find the AUX in menu.
