89' R32 Gtr Engine Internals?
Swiper the Fox replied to lemonpeeler's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
the earlier R32 blocks had a slightly better (thicker) casting....everything else is the same...except the earlier cranks which had the smaller inferior oil pump drive which is well known. -

Some drink it with coke...but i like mine in a short glass with ice. -
yeah and to think this engine was going to have the final assembly this week....ahh well the bottom end will be ready waiting for the head to be finished. that list above looks impressive and its something the bottom end really deserves to have bolted to it. i can sleep now

Guilt-toy Now Running On E85 !
Swiper the Fox replied to Guilt-Toy's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Anthony said he'd be confident rocking up for a test in our car. He thinks anything can now be passed. I hope you don't force them to re-write the laws due to your expertise. -

interesting results ....stay tuned for Anthony's update -
the retainers would have been right....were they silver or gold?....its the lifter buckets that would have been lacking I ask myself the same question everytime i do one of these why JUN don't make the buckets to suit...as it allows the chance of an 'incident' like your to occur when these products are being installed by the uninitiated.
-
Yes there is a secret to setting them up...its called knowing what your doing...lol You run the thicker Tomei buckets so you have to don't run excessively thick shims to get the lifter clearance correct. I run the 29mm base circle cams, the thicker Tomei buckets with the offset JUN titanium retainers and rev mine to 9500rpm all day....not an issue if the engine builder has an understanding of how things have to work together to get the engine to stay together.

Tuned..... 1002hp R34 T88gk 18cm Monster!
Swiper the Fox replied to STATUS's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I knew Osman's did some strange things like remove all the seats in a WRX convert it to a ute and run a single seat in the middle of the car....but remove the turbo's off a GTR is wrong in the extreme. -

not trying to wind you up here but your example is a little poor...everytime ive ran my car on a dyno in the night air its made more power...say 10kw minimum. Autosalon is run during the day and the conditions/air is not ideal compared to at night at workshop. Say you take that 10kw off the night reading...the dyno was out by 9kw! Real world example...my car ran 467kw at Croydon the night before NAS last year...the next day with hotter more humid conditions combined with fuel/exhaust gas in the air it rolled 450kw. Was it because the dyno/ramp rates were wrong...no its because the conditions were not ideal for the car to perform to its optimum. All cars in dyno comps are supposed to be run in 4th or 5th depending on which gear is 1:1 eg 5 speed in 4th or 6 speed in 5th -
this will give you some idea of what we came up against with the head http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Rb...es-t205992.html all sorted now...two options... we buy the head with all the JUN gear in it, sell the cams and port it or we start with the other stock head you have and we do it our way. cheers for the wrap Simon...after the last two days of stress and head scratching its appreciated.

ViPEC make their own....ones going in my car along with a fully optioned V88 soon. -
Thanks for the prompt reply... The guides have been knurled...you would not knurl brand new guides...id be approaching Greg to find out what he has done with your new guides as they are not in this head. In your 1st post you state "the head was ported and assembled by Trick Flow heads" this is now not the case. OK Ill leave it to you guys to sort out this mess. Thanks again Julian Paul

^ not only are you the 'mad professor' but also 'inspector cluseau'...great detective work 'Tony' id say the post above should be nominated for post of the year....top stuff -
Julian both you and i know you sold this head knowing full well it had issues...in a nutshell it was rooted! You have even said so to other well trusted members of this forum at last years Summernats. The port job is crap, the guides were not new...simply knurled stockers, the valves had too much ground off the tips and the thick 'custom' shims used on 3 of the exhaust valves were chamfered to stop them riding on the retainers, this didn't work as the retainers are badly marked from contact. The only reason you wanted to keep the cams is they were the only thing worth saving. If this head was set-up for these cams why did you want to separate them? Id advise you to contact Simon and discuss it before he contacts you. Please post your new mobile number so this problem can be resolved. Thank you

Hehe...i constantly give John (the owner who called the car RH9) a dig at the fact my car has run more 9 sec passes than his car has run 10's...hehe I think he should have waited till the car had ran the times before putting the RH9 number plates on it...as he cops a lot of sh1t over it. He runs it on slicks too....which is against RH9 regs....i think he should switch to street rubber and earn the RH9 tag first. Might be coming over the ditch soon Rob....will call in if i do.
