  1. I use an 040 as a lift pump on my 1000hp drag car...no problems with fueling even on the hottest of track days and i only ever have a maximum of 20litres in the tank.
  2. We had the same or similar problem when we were running the Autronic ECU...it needs a voltage divider buffer circuit fitted to allow the attessa to share the same signal as the TPS without pulling it (the voltage level) down under load. The Vi-PEC had an issue too but was a much less complicated fix.
  3. yes we were conspicuous by our absence.
  4. The EVO split the plenum where the idle control stepper motor bolts on. Big showing for Vi-PEC in its 1st serious event...maybe they can now be considered as a REAL alternative to MoTeC...as they removed the MoTeC that Garth used to run and fitted the Vi-PEC with a marked improvement in the running of the engine.
  5. Our Vi-PEC powered circuit GTR was at home sleeping...zzzzzz Scott was very admirable (or silly) in leaving the BELgarage signage on the EVO as it has nothing to do with them anymore. The EVO has been de-BEL'd and is a much better enginnered and prepared car now.
  6. Vi-PEC wins Superlap !!! Well done Insight Motorsport on taking out the Superlap Event. Scott Kuhner has prepared, engineered and tuned the car and runs a V88 ecu and uses E85 fuel. Scotty did plenty of hours on the car up to the event and did plenty of overnight 5am sessions on it to get it ready. top stuff guys. They also took out clubsprint event in the evo9 which uses a Vi-PEC pnp ecu and uses E85.
  7. im doing an engine now where the guides were cracked...and its not the 1st time ive seen it.
  8. picking up today...will fit it up for you tomm.
  9. Hi all...just got home All the turbo's, piping, air filters etc done. All the fuel system done. Vipec install done. Full service done (except coolant as radiator is still out) Techedge controller wired in and connected. Bloody balancer bolt is tighter than a fishes alibi...i have a special impact wrench that puts 600ft/lbs of impact torque through the bolt...no love. Have to drop the car down on its wheels and try the old 5th gear, handbrake, footbrake and 1mtr length of pipe over the end of the breaker bar method tomm.
  10. the support bracket that the bonnet catch is mounted on...pretty sure its around there somewhere.
  11. Think about it this way T04Z or T51R KAI...the KAI (as much power output as 2 x -10's) will make more power...but later. If you didn't have the GT-RS's set up properly they are a pain on the street as you found out last time and cost lots of $$ to get them right. The T04Z is simple and effective...it doesn't require the supporting mods to get it nice and streetable...If you want more top-end you can simply change the rear housing for more gas flow. T04Z...thats the way id go.
  12. just dont leave a freshly poured Jack Daniels near it or it will be demolished!
  13. This is not an ecu debate thread...my chocolate vs dogshit call was in jest...hence the open mouthed smiley after the comment. back on topic or you will all be banned !@*%!
  14. he's running a IPRA style restrictor on it. T04Z
  15. Vi-PEC will suit. Call your local dealer Mark Jacobsen at Godzilla Motorsport for your options and a price on installation and tuning.
  16. been there done that...lol. you should try the above with a quick once over via telephone.
  17. a bit like comparing the flavour of swiss chocolate and dogshit. anyway...im off to the workshop. see you tomm. Bakes will post up some more progress shots soon.
  18. this is a clear example of how torque eats fuel...not power. my old engine ran easily on the 700 SARD injectors...but once we re-did the set-up we ran out of injector at the same power level. But instead of a peaky torque curve it was dead flat and didn't drop away. so with the same power output the engine that produces the most torque for longer will need more fuel.
  19. Sump is finished...will pick up from fabricators tomm. sump on and then send...yahoo!! this engine with the right turbo/s will easily produce over 1000hp with around 30psi of boost.
  20. i see where you are coming from but you must understand im actually building these engines and putting them through more stress than joe average...not just some internet mechanic with an opinion. I always use top quality components and have recently changed spring brands as we have had excellent results with another brand we recently tested. I have seen builds by 'pro' engine builders go pear shaped quickly due to some guys thinking building high horsepower/high revving RB's is an easy thing to do. There are quite a few pitfalls when building big engines that if you are unaware of can come back to bite you on the ass very hard.
  21. my engine seems to live quite happily at 9500rpm+ using 11mm+ cams using my method. No piston mods whatsoever.
  22. Will post some more progress pics up tonight...no work yesterday as turbo inlet gaskets were missing from kit....BASTARDS!! They arrived this morning.
  23. not exactly...there is a way to keep everything friendly. Its doesn't involve pistons either.
