  1. will just keep disabling stuff to i get an answer either way
  2. my only concern is that it could still be a hardware fault therefore win 7 will leave me in the same situation.
  3. cheers guys, will see what win 7 is worth then decide if i go xp pro(which i have) or upgrade to 7. we were only thinking last night it started about the same time we rented the movie "predators". on my xbox which is in the theatre room there was no voices only action noise. on my desktop pc there was sound but the picture was scrambled however it worked on this pc as the zone on dvd was changed a while ago. not sure if that was the cause or not as its been carrying on for a whie now and cant remember. thanks again guys
  4. found the log and heaps of error 10. when googling someone suggested uninstall usb drivers and let it reinstall but same same. disabled sound and still same. also heaps of 4609 errors but unsure what they mean
  5. fumbled through and did this...but it still crashes and no blue screen...
  6. hey guys just seeking advice as to where the problem may be with the missus laptop which crashes often. its a Toshiba Dynabook bought in Japan running Japanese Vista one day out of the blue about 6 weeks ago it just randomly restarted while using it and continued to do so every 30 min or so. when its cold it restarts after 2 min then 3 then 4 etc. i ran prime 95 torture test and ran fine when cold for 30 mins before i stopped it. missus uses video hosting sites all the time and it barely plays up while downloading but all other sites kill it. in safemode with network it never fails. not sure if it could be a virus, hardware fault or something else. any ideas as to what i can disable to try or programs to run and find the problem would be appreciated. i know the sound is disabled in safemode but what else. being in japanese i kinda fumble around but can only read 10-20%
  7. we have a 2010 2.4 petrol suzuki vitara and love it. not sure how the diesel goes. good on fuel and excellent on the beach
  8. i rewired my old commodore alternator to Delta and went from 120amp -200 on the test bench but didnt charge till 1000rpm. when pulling up at the lights at night it would dim right down. never changed it back when i sold the car...wonder if new owner ever figured it out
  9. agreed this is funny!!
  10. i dont buy them anymore as its all free in here but i religously bought HPI and Zoom 7 or 8 yrs ago. zoom usually only ran 1 or 2 skyline/VL stories plus everything else. was some good tech stuff in there and DIY`s http://www.zoommagazine.com.au/ some good vids on home page atm. pac crash is epic
  11. your not too embarrased to drive a falcon?
  12. wheres the love?
  13. i agree but...when i was an apprentice either my lecturer or one of the tradies said sometimes if they arent too bad they can be brought back from the dead by rapid charging and heating up the plates. alternatively shorting out the posts for a few seconds. all the batteries in my cars have completely died so havent trtied
  14. when i was an apprentice the laptop program we used on the big Detroit Diesel dump trucks displayed figures with gauges like a dashboard. none of our trucks had the optional turbo speed sensors but the gauge only went to 30,000 or 35,000 from memory. i always wanted to order one and check it out.
  15. the navara wouldnt have been electronic either. the old type had a bi-metal contact that opens/closes and the speed depends on the load. all auto sparkies should have electronic ones. on the pack it will say non load sensitive etc. just tell them 12V, 2 or 3 terminal and Electronic. heres one as an example from supercrap http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/Tridon-Flasher-Relay-Unit-12V-2-Pin-Non-Load-Sensitive-Electronic.aspx?pid=6016#Description
  16. flasher units are a small box or cylinder about the size of 10x 20 cent pieces stacked up with 2 or 3 terminals on the end. you just pull it out and push the new one in. i would imagine its in the fuse panel in the cab below steering wheel. turn the indicators on and follow the noise. pull it out to see if you need a 2 or 3 termial flasher
  17. replace the flasher unit with an electronic one which isnt load dependant and will always flash at the same speed regardless
  18. what about a security light mounted nearby. turn the sensitivity up and fit bright flood lights? or is it parked away from where you or neighbours can see easily?
  19. looks like an awesome weekend! will have to call past in my work ute one day ill just tell the boss i got lost and kept following a buggy and some other cars around and around to get directions
