looking a deluxe and a couple of other regulars here.... I was wondering what sort of costs are involved in hiring the track out for a full day during the week, and how much notice you need to give them. Cheers Simon

I bought a navara drive brand new from nissan, then knocked the roll pin out the body, pulled the shaft out and melted the cog off with an oxy, i then took the 33 cog off the 33 drive and modified the shaft to fit this cog (you cannot use the navara cog) basically the 33 cog has a half moon cut out on it, so i ground a half moon onto the shaft and then placed the cog on, drilled a hole in the base and put a roll pin in, then put the complete shaft back into the navara body and put the roll pin back in there. easy process! As for my clutch its a brand new exedy 5 puck....

bit of an update here... got speedo all sorted, used a navara drive and it all works sweet. Now ive got a major drama with my clutch... after doing prac night at lala it was slipping in gear and while clutching it.. and its brand new! and since then just driving on the street and up hills it slipps like hell. So im pretty annoyed that i have to take the box out again!! other then that, it slides pretty good with the extra torque... i got myself an AVCR and tried playing with it but i found that raising the boost with the stock ECU was pointless due to rich and retard(ed) mode... but i was still able to pull 4th gear entry's into Turn 1 at mallala which is something i couldnt do with the RB20 (i've got taller diff gearing to stock also) takes a bit of getting used to thats for sure as a normal 3rd gear entry is about 140 kph where as a 4th gear entry is 160 kph... so thats 20km faster for those slow on the uptake... needless to say i looped a couple of times while dealing with the faster speeds. Next to come is a TSL remap using RB20 ecu, i'll run stock turbo for a while, new clutch and some more suspension work and general maintenance

if you didnt get a yolk then you'll need to track one down, try an SA based impoirter like japanese motorsports.. olny cause i know they have heaps lying around. then you need to get a custom front section made up, aint hard at all and i have the measurements already done if you want them. dont bother with timing belt and pump, just change the plugs and put some 0.8 gapped coppers in there, check all the coil packs, clean the electrodes and look for cracks on the pack, if they are cracked then silastic them up before putting them back in. trust me take your time here as it will save having to do it all again when the car doesnt run propperly (like mine didnt lol) as for nuts falling off the turbo. its quite common as those nuts are exposed to some serious heat cycling, your best bet is to make sure the little metal tabs are still on there and grab some locktite anti seise, put that on the thread and do them up tight. box should be in good nick if it had a stock clutch! i know mine was so i was pretty happy about that (i too was hoping for a OS clutch hahaha)

that said, if you get the S13 one, you can swap the half shafts over, and even the rear cover if you want, tho it will fit in regardless. All the diffs from S13, A31, C33, R32 are interchangeable (S13 one must be R200)

Differences Between Rb20 & 25 Gearbox's
Simon-S14 replied to mr_rbman's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
yup i can lift them pretty easy, a 25 box i cannot lol -
if its rounded then yes you've made life hard for yourself. these bolts are a very high tenstile bolt and if your using a poor quality spanner you will round them, or break your knuckels... or both lol. the trick is to use a LONG 14mm spanner, of good quality, or a short quality one with another one on the end to add leverage. get a mate to shove a long flat head screw driver through the tailshaft uni joint and pull that opposite to you. since its rounded... you're now going to have to either cut it off with a grinder using a very thin cutting disk, or weld on a bit of steel to the nut, and then put a breaker bar over the steel to undo it.

Differences Between Rb20 & 25 Gearbox's
Simon-S14 replied to mr_rbman's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
pick it up then! lol seriously. the 20 boxes are long and skinny where the 25 boxes are acctually shorter but MUCH fatter around the mid section -
4 studs on the back, two large bolt holes on the front of the housing. and usually have 5 bolt half shalt flanges... tho some ive seen have 6.

Differences Between Rb20 & 25 Gearbox's
Simon-S14 replied to mr_rbman's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
the easiest way to tell if its a 25 box is to pick it up... they are fat and heavy things! rb20 boxes are light as by comparison. both speedo's slot into the hole and are held by a single retainer, but the RB25 box is electric and the rb20 box is cable driven, hence the screw on attachment. -
yeah kinks has it right, spark plugs really is a "feel" thing, after doing a few of them you get an idea as to how much is the right amount.
-
use a rattle gun, get them nice and tight!!!! *disclaimer... i AM joking of course... anyone who uses a rattle gun on sparkplugs is a dickhead

hey i have one of these exact same clutches and its less then 1500 kms old... took it out to mallala for drift prac and before i even got out to the track on my way to a mates workshop it just all of a sudden started to slip while IN gear... in 4th at 3000 rpm about 80kph i would give it some throttle and it would just start slipping!! gave it a bleed, didnt do much at all.. went out to the track and needless to say it was pretty useless.. im pretty disappointed with the clutch, considering i only JUST bought it. not even making much power either... about 170 rwkw

Maybe Clutch Problem
Simon-S14 replied to mle808's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
yeah its thrust bearing, and you'll need more then one mate to l;ift box out and in again.... those 33 boxes are heavy as when doing it on the ground when the car is on axle stands! -
R32 Gtst Gearbox Conversion, To R33 Manual
Simon-S14 replied to blur's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
i cant understand why everyone is filing out the half moon in the 33 cog... why not take advantage of it and leave it there and grind a half moon on the navara spline, which is what i did, along with drilling the base and inserting a roll pin so it doesnt come off. negates the need for glue at all. -
i would doubt it

R32 Gtst Gearbox Conversion, To R33 Manual
Simon-S14 replied to blur's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
lol i spent 50 bucks all up on the navara hybrid and IMO it works perfect and should last the distance, you just need to do some basic engineering, i also drilled a hole in the base of the cog and put a roll pin through it, cost nothing and ensures that it will never fall off. Didnt you buy the navara drive also Ryan? just give it to me along with the 33 cog and i'll make it up for you at my work man. Cheers
