Never goto those mechanics again, as they have ABSOLUTELY ZERO clue about the products that they install. The ticking noise you hear is the AVC-R solenoid opening and closing, as it starts to control boost... Take your car for another drive... As soon as you start making meaningful boost, the ticking should start, because that's when the solenoid starts to control the boost levels. The solenoid is mounted to your enginebay somewhere, and it "ticks" as it opens and closes because it's mounted against a steel panel. You could add more padding to reduce the noise, but there's no need as it doesn't affect the operation of the car at all(there should already be a thin sponge "gasket" between the solenoid and the steel panel)... In fact, the ticking noise tells you that the boost controller is actually doing something

... and he takes it street racing and kills himself. His group of friends have lost 6 guys to street racing in the past year, and they still don't learn. http://forums.clubrsx.com/showthread.php?t...25&pagenumber=1 I'm glad that our forums doesn't have a "Kill Stories" section like other car clubs. Street racing is for wannabe losers. Take it to the track.

The Japanese are certainly an interesting bunch Amazingly respectful, polite and extremely nice people... In fact, I want to go and live there for a year, because I feel that Japan has much more to offer me, than I was able to experience during my short two week stay there. After saying that, the Japanese are extremely cautious, and don't like foreigners knowing all their secrets. Some leading Japanese tuning companies simply won't sell come technology to foreigners (turbochargers in particular), because they are afraid that the design will be studied and copied. Case in point, would be Reece McGregor's "Hydraulic ATTESSA System", which amazingly looks exactly like Veilside's item which was designed about a year prior to Heat Treatment's groundbreaking invention. Back to the point of pistons, I have no doubt that the Japanese pistons will hold as much boost and compression as you will throw at them. But for the price, I will most probably go for Wisecos or JE pistons. Why? Because for my boost levels (2bar)and requirements (500hp or 600hp with NOS), I believe that these pistons will do the job just fine. The added expense of the Japanese internals would be wasted on my relatively puny engine. You have to remember that the Japanese have MANY 1000-1300hp RB26 engines, and 600hp is considered a "light tune"... It all depends on what your needs are.

I trust you haven't visited JUN's smelting and machining factory in Saitama, Tokyo. JUN make parts for many of the other Japanese companies under licence, and although I may not be at liberty to say, let me just mention that I was surprised to see TRUST labelled boxes in the JUN factory. That is just one example. I'd love to post photos and video footage that I took of JUN's massive factory, filled with CAD machines and their countless massive machines to forge, grind and polish their crankshafts, camshafts and conrods, but I promised Junichi Tanaka's daughter that I wouldn't post them publically, and the footage was only for my friends. I did not see a machine producing pistons, as JUN uses Cosworth pistons, although I have been told that HKS produce nearly everything they sell. If you saw the massive scale that JUN operated at, and remember that HKS is even bigger, you would not be dismissing Japanese parts companies so quickly. After saying that, I openly admit that I don't know what metal alloys each company use to produce their forged pistons. All I know is that the price varies WILDLY, with Japanese pistons usually being more expensive than their American counterparts. A set of APEXi pistons, rings, and pins will set you back 240,000 Yen (AUD$3500), whereas a set of JE or Wiseco pistons, probably around $1500. **The following is "Merli Speculation", and is not scientific in any way, and is provided as a plausible explanation for questions asked in this thread.** How can one forged piston be more than twice as good as another I hear you ask? I don't know. Maybe it comes from the fact that there are about 60 GTRs in America, and more than 60,000 in Japan (43,934 R32 GTR, 16,050 R33 GTR as of Oct 1998) and that the market demands a better product? There are so many alloys available for piston manufacturers, is it hard to believe that pistons produced for two different companies originating from the same smelting house are made from two different alloys, as per manufacturer's specs?

Phwoar Much better Everyone was disappointed when it made such a low figure, good to see it running healthy again! P.S. I agree that the rims and retrim detract from the classiness of the car quite a bit... Swoop wins hands down.

Photos were taken at CRD... There's something wrong with the car... It only made 170kw @ all 4 with all those mods at the PF dyno day... Nice headunit though... Clarion 7" DVD screen... I want, I want

For 275kw @ all 4 wheels, you can leave your engine completely stock, and just go for bolt-on parts. My mate's GTR is making in excess of 400kw @ all 4 wheels on it's stock internals, but this is definitely pushing the internals. For your goals, there is absolutely no need to touch the internals.

It has definitely lifted with the absence of Peewee

This thread sure has degenerated.

Braided brake lines are excellent modifications, and are *relatively* cheap at a couple of hundred bucks... They really firm up the pedal, and make the brakes much more controllable on the limit (around the track)... They also increase the amount of "feel" you get through the brake pedal...

Lots of positive comments, but no-one is fronting with the cash, or making a genuine offer -
I afraid I've been offered something better by a cute little blonde, so I'm out for tonight Have a good one guys!

Sorry mate... It's gone... You can pick up a new copy from http://www.gpstore.co.nz for NZD$119.95 plus shipping though... A good trick is to pick up the hookers, and they... "show you a good time".. The car rocks back and forth and your health goes up Unfortunately the hookers charge you, so it costs you money... After you reach full health, they exit the car, and you can just run them over, pick up all the money they drop when they die, and you get all your money back, as well full health!!!

Yeah.... too little notice for me... I'll be there on the 3rd though!

Just to clarify things: If you choose to have the matter heard in court, there are several possible outcomes. 1. The judge finds you guilty. You pay your fine, to the value originally stated, plus $55 (or thereabouts) court fees. 2. The judge finds you innocent. You don't pay a cent, and the incident gets struck from your driving record completely. 3. The judge gives you a "Section 10", which is basically you will pay the fine to the value originally stated, plus court fees, but no points will be lost, and the incident will not be recorded on your driving record. 4. You are able to plea the penalty down... In this instance, instead of losing 6 points, and a $1515 fine, you can plead it down to $1000 fine, and 3 points off your licence... (I'm not sure about this one, lawyers say it never happens, I know of people who claim it has happened to them) 5. If you are convicted by a court for speeding, the maximum penalty they can apply is $2200 (regardless of what the original fine was), but this option is rarely taken by a judge... BUT, in this case of speeding 50km/h over the posted limit, I believe there is a good chance of the judge raising the fine if you are found guilty.

Holy crap... Where did this thread pop up from? You must have dug through 20 pages of threads to find this one!!!
-
Bad advice there, sorry Swoop. It CLEARLY says NOT to pay the fine if you intend on contesting it. Paying the fine is an admission of guilt, and they won't give you the time of day after you have already given them your money. DO NOT PAY THE FINE IF YOU INTEND TO CONTEST THE TICKET. From what I've read, you *were* speeding, and you got caught.. I think you should suck it up and take it like a man........ but then again, 6 months is a loooooooong time to be banned from driving, so perhaps it's worth contesting the ticket.

I know... I've seen your car dumbo As I said, I like the colour, but I just don't think it suits my personality...

Ryan: HAHAHAHAHAHA... Going through my website I see... You whore Great photoshop job George: The official name is "Le Mans Sunset" I think... It's a nice orangey/gold colour... Looks great in real life, but I'm not sure I could drive an orange car.
