Unfortunately I couldn't make the cruise today... Are you coming to the steak night this wednesday Dino? -
Hey.... don't dis those excels!!! I've been beaten by one before!!! I swear that thing must have been putting out about 300-310kw @ front wheels!! External wastegate dumped to atmosphere and it deafened me as he tore past me!!! well no, not really, but it made for a good story right?

You were following your friend through backstreets, but he managed to lose you??? So in other words, he was fanging it through the backstreets at speeds above the posted speed limit. Now I realise that you may not have been speeding, but it definitely sounds like your friend was. Your friend was lucky that you held them up, and they couldn't pull over the real person they wanted to, hence they didn't give you a ticket. I hate to preach on about this, and take the "Police's side", but this isn't harrassment. Your friend (and I suspect you in an attempt to follow him) were speeding, and they had a valid reason for pulling you over, and give you a spanking :uh-huh:

Another urban myth      I pity you if you actually try and say that to a cop and find that they just laugh in your face :bahaha: :bahaha:

Well said Adrian. We don't get the Illawarra Mercury here, so I'd appreciate if you scanned or typed out any responses you get from the Editor or readers.

What the..................      I have no idea where you heard that, or what clueless hippy told you that, but that's so completely wrong I actually laughed out loud JASMA (Japanese Automobile Sports Muffler Association) is a Japanese Association that "certifies" exhausts made by Japanese companies that conform to their very strict noise level guidelines. For example, I have a JASMA apporved C-West exhaust. Case Study: HKS Super Dragers are JASMA approved, but the HKS Drager 2 only conforms to JASMA noise limits with the restrictor in. The HKS Hiper doesn't conform to JASMA noise limits at all!!! :bahaha: :bahaha: :bahaha: I hope that clears up any misconceptions you have about those pretty "JASMA" plates that are found on some Japanese exhausts...

This is true. But what would you rather: You kiss ass for 10-15 minutes and have a decent chance of getting off whatever they pulled you over for, or You be a fcuking hero for 10-15 minutes of your life and be a big man and talk down to the officers who you most likely will never see again, and almost certainly get whacked in the face with a big defect or speeding fine for your troubles? I know which one I'd rather choose.

Cheers mate... or should I say "Cor Blimey" I think that while it's all well and good to know that you're better than the cop, and that you earn more in a week than he does in a year, you should keep that knowledge to yourself. Treat the cop like crap, give him attitude, and disrespect him, and he'll make your night HELL. And you know what? There's nothing you can do about it. He can keep you there as long as he wants, and if you get too stroppy with him, he'll call for backup and take you into the station. It's a much better option to keep that "superiority attitude" to yourself, as it can only cause you harm, not good. Police Officers don't like to have it pointed out to them that they're not kings of the world. Let them believe that for the 10 minutes it'll take for you to talk to them... It's no sweat off your back, but might save you a LOT of hassles down the track.

Can I ask what nationality your heritage stems from please? Your attitude is quite........... interesting.

Well... You don't know the first thing about me or my car. My car is heavily, heavily modified. If a police officer pulls me over and pops the bonnet, chances are that I won't be driving away from the encounter if the officer is having a bad day or has a grudge against modified car owners. Just because my car isn't doesn't conform to ADRs, it doesn't mean it's not safe. In fact, it has been meticulously modified and maintained, and is in immaculate condition. I'm actually very scared that I'll brake too quickly, causing the car behind me to run up my ass. In any case, this is the risk that I take by having a car that doesn't conform to ADR rules and regulations. This is why I drive extremely sedately on the roads, as my friends will tell you. I very very seldom open her up on public roads. That's what the race track is for. Quite simply it's dangerous for me to unleash all my power on public roads. Anything can happen from a car pulling out in front of me, to a kid running onto the street (if you're stupid enough to open her up in a residential area, which I see all the time). So it's a risk, everytime I give it a bit of gas, and the wastegate announces my presence to the surrounding 5 suburbs, and it's a risk I hardly ever take, but when I do, I'm willing to take the risk of getting my ass pounded by the police if they happen to catch me. I wouldn't whinge about it. It's true what's been said earlier. Police can tell a decent driver a mile away. I pass by police cars everyday, and they haven't felt the need to pull me over and harass me as yet. Why? My car is VERY loud, and OBVIOUSLY modified, yet I haven't been harassed yet (in the past year I've had the car). Why? I'll tell you why. Don't drive like a dickhead, and they'll most probably leave you alone.

Ladies and Gentlemen looks like we have another 9 second GTR
Merli replied to kabab's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Congratulations Munro... Great to see another Aussie RH9 GTR -
Another pointless "Us vs. Them" thread about our police force. Of course there is the odd case of police harassment by a dickhead officer who is having a bad day or just got his badge and wants to flex his newfound muscles... But I'm willing to bet that 95% of the time, you were doing something stupid that warranted your being pulled over in the first place. Not all police officers are dickheads. But a few are. Wow. I guess the same thing could be said about our "car enthusiast/hoon" category right?

I'm using an HKS GT3040 with 0.87 exhaust housing. Boost starts to build from around 2500rpm and hits 1 bar at 4000rpm, when the wastegate opens and the turbo really comes on strong. I'm actually not sure what the torque curve is like... I can't seem to find any dyno chart printouts at the moment. My engine right of this moment is completely stock. It has never been cracked open and is completely standard. It's the only thing holding me back from turning up the boost and dialing up 2 bar. The thing with doing engine builds, is that there is a lot of time and labour costs in doing so. A good engine builder wouldn't be asking too much less than $2000 just for the rebuild, without any components, so if you were to later on to decided that you *DID* need those conrods, or should have done some prepping of the crank, it's gonna cost you a lot to go in and do that surgery. It's best to sit down and do everything right the first time, with a little more room for future developments...
