that's because in the UK's backyard you get Aston martins, TVR's, jags and bentleys, an open grey import market so ANY euro or japanese car can be imported and a fairly decent buying power due to their strong currency. Now in our backyard you get Fords and Holdens and a handful of japanese cars you can somewhat call performance cars. At the end of the day the show has to be relevant. No point harping on and on about how wonderful a car is whether it be $20,000 or $200,000 if its never gonna be available in the country. Take note of the American cars they review on TGUK, the only ones they cover are the ones that are sold in the UK.

haha mate I was just reading over some of your posts to put together a consult cable the other day. The serial input is actually a hack, using the proprietary iphone port, and some base level interaction with the darwin based unix platform running on the iphone to get a TX and RX signal. Not too sure on the voltages, I'm waiting for my iphone port breakout circuit from sparkfun to arrive so I can toy with it some more.

I have 15% on the R32. but then, I don't really need to see where I've been in that. I have 6 windows to look out of in the ceffy.

yeah i need to get mine done as well.. probably get 30% all around.

wtf is with that test track... i mean, oran park is just around the corner from that airfield. its either really horrible filming or bad editing, but those test track runs just looked shite, two turns and a couple of chicane's the whole thing's over. but the show in general I actually liked. after reading half the reviews from the pundits on here and on finalgear.com i was expecting rubbish. you know what? it was actually good. I'd almost call it a mix of Fifth Gear and Top Gear. The scruffy lookin fella reminds me of the new guy from fifth gear for some reason. what most of the plonkers don't realise is that SBS has a fraction of the budget of the BBC (and the viewers too... 8 million TGUK viewers vs 990,000 TGOz viewers) yet still managed some half decent segments compared to the rest of the rubbish made in australia. the hosts... well yeah they did ry to have parallel personalities with the pommes, but in their own way are kinda unique. Warren is funnier than May, the scruffy fella is more skilled than the Hamster, and Cox isn't just a highly opinionated loudmouth with no driving skills... he's just a ex race car driver who happens to be a highly opinionated loudmouth. Best aussie show after Underbelly I'd have to say.

Quick Night Rider The Movie Is On! Channel 7

new series started last week, and its shite. the movie was actually better. And WTF was with the riced out pursuit mode? I like the little "turbo boost" reference to the original show. And the fact that kitt can change into a ute is pretty cool. -
the free trade agreement between both nations clearly dictates that we need to pick up our game in the retard to sane person ratio deficiency. therefore I postulate that this show has been pieced together to bring us in sync with our gun toting - anti abortion - maccers loving brotheren.

did anyone record a copy of it?
-
wtf... didn't you notice the vin number was different when you signed the paperwork?

really? IRS on the C110? wow, that's pretty cool, I kinda assumed they'd be solid like most other cars of their time.

This Is Why They Call Me Dangerman

coconuts... big hairy ones. you have them. -
haha i thought it was possible once too... then i went and bought an AE86. engine swap and lots of power later, it still felt like a car out of the 80's. I can only imagine what something from the 70's would be like as a performance car. I'd still own a C10 or C110, but it'd have to be as close to original as possible, or the mods have to be from the same period.... so I'm talking Kakimoto 3.1L L series engine with sweet raspy trumpets on the carbs or something. Also keep in mind as soon as you drop a newer engine into the car you'll have to adhere to newer EPA regulations. If you have an older engine you could pretty much run a straight pipe all day long and no one can do anything about it. In any case... if you want something from that era and cheap why not go for a 260Z or a 240Z if you can find one cheap?
-
ugh... you do realise it'll still sport a solid rear axle right? and it handles like... well... a 1970's car. Drew, Steve (N1GTR) is after a C110 coupe so he can build a Ken Mary GTR replica.

*yawn* http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Kn...FU-t207018.html BTW the series is now airing in the states... and OMG the pursuit version of KITT is the most riced out piece of crap shit-with-neons-wtfbbq-wing-and-useless-aero abomination to ever grace my hard drive. It shits all over F&F in the rice department. Way to ruin a perfectly cool muscle car. -

Sooo... I've been mucking around with my iPhone and been writing a couple of apps (one of them should hopefully show up in the iPhone store if its approved). But I've been thinking... it'd be great to have a iPhone Consult port application. Basically I'm hoping to get a group of you guys who might have some background in programming, and interfacing with the Nissan consult system. There's two ways we can go... either legit and sell the application thru Apple, or go renegade and distro it for hacked iPhones. I'm personally in favour of the latter, but then again, there's always that lure of money and fame Before we get carried away, a list of goals for the app: Interface with the CONSULT port... easiest way would be to use a serial channel: http://devdot.wikispaces.com/Iphone+Serial+Port+Tutorial This kinda means that the application has to run on a jailbroken iphone though Although I did come across this... a iSkin TX/RX (http://www.iskin.com/ceruleantx/) which is an official product that allows you to send audio over bluetooth... I'm not sure if its adaptable to serial communication, but with a name like TX/RX its quite interesting. Has to show pretty gauges (something a bit nicer than Datascan does). Has to show data in realtime. This data can be in graph plots or in gauge form. Has to be able to give the user a more human language translation of error codes, and switches available. Has to be able to log the inputs received along with time and location. This would be a killer function for both tuning and datalogging on track days etc. Has to make full use of the iPhone's accelerometer and pseudo-GPS. One for mapping G-forces etc, and the other for logging geolocation. If you guys look at the app "Rev" that just got launched a little while back, they kind of do something similar with the OBDII port using a bluetooth signal. However they don't make use of the accelerometer, and they don't do data logging. Anyways... I'm just putting this post up, so that if anyone who reads this forum is keen on the idea and can actually contribute, then they can make themselves heard. I'll be doing some more planning in the days to come, and probably try and put together a specification of some sort to work through. If you guys have any ideas, please post them up.

its a primera... nissan america's answer to a pulsar

you forget that an owner of a 36GTR can get them in 6 other states still. at cheaper rates than QLD too... you poor sods pay way too much for custom plates.

haha I had to have 2.1 the day after it got cracked for the mac. cbf waiting for quikpwn to catch up on windows. i tried to be smart and extracted the itunes installer package to remove quicktime and just install the drivers and the itunes software... but even the installer checks to make sure you have quicktime and its neanderthal codec installed. I use quicktime alternative, which is so much faster and renders way better. Kyle, you can do MMS if you jailbreak and install the MMS app (check my screenshot of the first page). I've also got a torrent client on it, although if you open more than 20 connections the phone slows to a crawl. I chucked itunes on VMware cos I didn't want it installed on my normal OS, or Apple's bloatware apps and a million and one services and autoupdaters. some of the guys on the forum i'm on are working on VLC for iphone so you can play divx etc, which is kind of a pipe dream, as its a purely software based decoder, which won't work too well on an iphone that's already got its resources stretched. as for the home button, its not really apple's design fault, but moreso just me and pretty much all other mobiles using a button to end a call. habitual i guess.

oh and for the outside mods... I got an el cheapo docking station off ebay for $15 for work. and by far the best $35 I spent, a Zagg Invisibleshield cover. Completely scratch proofs your iPhone, and is made from a durable plastic that sticks to your phone and won't come off easily, pretty much crystal clear, and adds a bit more grip to the phone (I can put it on my R32 dash and it doesn't slide around... also makes it stick to any vertical mirror ). Plus one of the best things about the iPhone 3g was its small thin form, screw making it as clunky as a Nokia by putting a thick cover on it.
