  1. You gotta order the 1/2 duck seperately... and get a bucket of rice for everyone. If you go 5 1/2 ducks and rice they'll give you 5 ducks on rice. i leave you guys for 6 months and you still haven't mastered the 1/2 duck technique? tsk tsk. I'll be back home in Dec, things are kinda balls out at work here so I can't come any sooner. I'll try and organise a good old meet/cruise for the SE crew before I come. It will be EPIC.
  2. must've not got the memo. sorry to ride your asses on discussion on hooning and illegal activites, but its something we don't tolerate on SAU, and people have been banned for it, I just don't wanna see one of the regulars get into trouble for it... I thought my post was comedy gold personally in nicer, less sarcastic words... "keep the discussion to good driving roads and touring journeys, and stay away from street racing and breaking the law". Guess I'm too used to people saying "spirited driving" to get around saying "speeding around".
  3. great idea for getting rid of underbonnet temps when the car is stationary, and improving intake... but you're totally screwing the air channeling that goes on under the bonnet. smarter idea would be to cut those vents towards the back of the bonnet so when you're going at speed the air comes into the front, cools your parts and then goes out the back... instead of air coming in and straight out through your holes. not bad DIY, but has anyone taken some real temperature measurements before and after cutting them?
  4. I know... just putting it out there just in case someone decides to take "spirited drive" the wrong way and posts up something like "omg there's a hektik road on the way to Traralgon that me and my cuz cut 180k runs on. valve bouncing ftw uleh".
  5. some cars can't be replaced unfortunately... and no amount of insurance will bring it back. Try an R34 Z Tune for example... or an R32 GT-B... or an R33 LM GTR... To anyone else they'd look like run of the mill skylines, but to the owners they're one in 100 made etc.
  6. you could contact these guys. They always seem to know where the best spots to go for spirited drives are. Don't be an ass and get yourself banned for discussing illegal shit mmkay?
  7. haha looks like raceonusa uses the same kits that Viva Garage (vivagarage.com.au) down here uses... they even have the same "R34 JGTC" kit (yes, if an R34 JGTC car caught hemorrhoids it'd look like that I suppose). lol not surprised, they're probably using the same suppliers. and we all know the "high quality" kits that come out of there. You'd have better luck of your R32 kit fitting a crackerbox civic.
  8. foooock! I wanna consume half a duck n bucket of rice!
  9. yeah i can get old ones too. 132 (Vol 7 of GTR edition) is the latest one. Came out in April this year.
  10. Are you admitting to being a gigantic phallus Col?
  11. so I met a guy a week or two ago who had an RB30ET under the bonnet of his torana. I'll see if I can grab you some pics.
  12. oh one more cool thing about it... if you want MORE range... then unscrew the antenna on the top, and run a wire with a BNC connector to a car mounted unidirectional UHF antenna (or bull bar mounted antenna if you're 4WD'ing)... or you can look like a total twat and get a bigass directional UHF antenna and walk around with one You'll get reception from a hundred K's away.
  13. Sorry Ash, the one I've got is a 3W UHF CB, not a 2 Watter, and its fucking phenominal compared to the toys being peddled on ebay and shit... http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?I...keywords=DC1060 Although at full crank the reception is awesome, it chews through the battery (you can drop the power down to get more life out of the battery). If you get 4 or more I can get em for $95... they're a bit exxy, but the range is nice.
  14. If you're in melbourne you could probably catch up with Craig and the boys from J-Spec at an SAU event. but yeah, what Chris said, absolutely boatloads of V35s in Brissy... almost all driven by men with receding hairlines
  15. i can't believe how big a tosser some of you guys seem, the ONLY decent attempt to come out of australia at a car show and all you can seem to do is call for its cancellation or boycott it? who cares if the content relates to you or not? they had most of the right bits, and at least one hero car per episode. I bet you twats would rather watch australian idol or today tonight instead. if a guy representing your country doesn't win any medals at the olympics you still cheer the fucker on... why should it be any different with a TV show? </stir>
  16. Sometime in 1993 in japan
  17. yeah unique shaped fuel tank, not even the laurel is similar. maybe just get a custom one welded up?
  18. i can get you the jaycar ones at cost price if you want. they sell 2Watt jobbies now from memory.
  19. guys, keep it civil, no need to call each other names.
  20. If you were trying this maneuver in a car weighing as much as a truck, with as little surface contact area as a truck, and at anything over 60km/h... I doubt you'd have little choice in the matter whether you wanted to hit the car or not. its a truck you're talking about, not a light car. its hard to control under brakes, its hard to slow down and its hard to make split second decisions in.
  21. I like the new subies... Then again I liked the Mazda GTR, Escort, and other hatchback rally cars from yesteryear.
  22. common sense and reality are a different thing. Common sense says you shouldn't try and lift 160kg attached to a metal bar over your head. yet we give the person who does it a gold medal and congratulate them. get a grip. the OP is in the wrong. The whole reason you're taught to stay behind the line before you get your license is for this precise reason. Just like cutting in front of trucks and slamming on brakes, they will rear end you. Momentum's a bitch, and no amount of 12 piston Brembo's can pull up a truck fast enough to avoid a collision if you don't give it enough space. What's to say if he swerved to avoid the car that was in the wrong he wouldn't have hit another car and killed someone? You shouldn't bring your personal prejudices into this, just because you've had bad experiences with trucks doesn't automatically put the OP in the right. By god, the number of times I've seen asshats poke their fronts halfway into the lane while waiting to turn into it... If I drove a shitter I'd be half tempted to plough into em instead of swerving to avoid em. Best thing you can do is take the insurance payout and fix your car up or buy a new one.
  23. that hit doesn't look that bad... some time on a jig and maybe a new rad support will fix that puppy up.
