  1. holy fuckballs batman... there goes the neighbourhood. we might need to get two of those tables out this time. I'mma get my Blue Rump 400g steak on.
  2. gah, need to find an auto RB20 gearbox on the cheap
  3. I'm usually free on the weekends other than playing cricket or footy. I might be driving down to the GC to pick up a replacement gearbox... hopefully. let me know if you wanna meet up, I'm a couple of mins drive from Indro.
  4. car scene, not hektik muzza scene
  5. Not defending myself, just playing devil's advocate. I've got a GTS4, and I know how amazingly easy it is to make into a GTR down to the last bolt... hell my car's already halfway there. I wouldn't personally put a GTR badge on it even if I did swap the engine out. I know its not worth the time and money when I could just as easily buy a real GTR. That said if I saw someone go to that much effort to own a GTR... I wouldn't make fun of them. I mean, heaven forbid if a company went off and converted a 4 door HNR33 to an RB26, and then went and plonked a mighty big old GTR badge on the rear. Surely that's not a GTR? And then the audacity of the company, lets hypothetically call it... oh i dunno.. "Autech"... that's a nice random name... to sell this 4 door "GTR" with an HNR33 chassis and a bolted on "BNR33" plate as a "limited edition"... of course... no one would ever buy that. Never. </sarcasm>
  6. i'll need one of those seats too... my car's not gonna be goin up any mountains... I've only got 1st n 2n'd gears.
  7. lol Dave... yes, a mutual understanding is one thing, putting it down in written form is well... a little dangerous. And yes, DOTARS do visit this site... I've spoken to one of the guys on the RAWS team after he came on here to read up on some V35 info.
  8. god bless spill resistant keyboards... cos mine's drenched in coffee from when i saw that last post.
  9. so if you wrote off your GTR, you wouldn't use a GTS4 chassis to rebuild it? even though the Nissan part number for the chassis on both cars are the exact same? I mean... going by what you're saying it'd then make your GTR a GTS4 right? I get why you guys get all wound up like schoolgirls with runs in their panties when it comes to say a blatantly obvious GTSt with no mods and 6" wide wheels sporting a GTR badge. But when someone takes great pain to build what they have to something they aspire to have, I don't see why they should be shot down, especially if they've taken great effort to make sure its as good or better than what it claims to be.
  10. If you wanna know where we are, look for my ceffy. It has an SAU sticker where a GTR badge usually goes on a skyline. hell, just look for a ceffy, there's only 2 of us in the indro area.
  11. omg hai. you drive an FC as well?
  12. best bet would be the "GT-R Magazine" (yes a magazine dedicated just to GT-R's) special on R32's... had a pretty good run down in difference of specs. My copy's in melbourne or I'd post up a scan for you.
  13. you're having trouble finding an N/A R34 for under 20 grand? import one, you'll get one for about 18k on road.
  14. i dunno, i've always been under the impression that if it smells like an orange, tastes like an orange and looks like an orange, it must be an orange. If someone goes to great pain to up spec something lower to be as good or better than a "higher" model, then I don't see any harm in them claiming its as good, or is that model. What I do have a problem with is people who have a lemon, which smells, tastes and looks like a lemon, but insist its an orange.
  15. actually mazda did have a GTR. it rocked. mazda familia GTR was one of the best rally cars ever made.
  16. if you squint... james kinda looks like clarkson behind those ski masks.
  17. screw the english books. the good stuff is in the japanese books. I'm yet to come across any english books that cover the development process, detail the evolution and even show cool concept drawings and actual prototype models that never made it. buy this.... its 187 pages covering the first ALSI model thru to the V35 (it had just come out when it was published)... costs about $20-$23 including postage. A sample: you'll thank me later. There's also an R32 GT-R race evolution book, which covers the evolution of the R32 GT-R and its exploits on the track in japan. I got both of em on my last japanese book group buy. Pretty sure there's a pic of it in that thread.
  18. think you've got a short somewhere. see an auto elec before you do any serious damage.
  19. nice car mate... hehe mine's pretty close to that look right now too with the 16"s... AE86 drivers go gaga for your rear wheels BTW if you're selling em. make sure you capitalise on their infatuations. oh and be careful of those weatherstrips, after 15 years of being on the car they tend to fly off at speeds over 130km/h. lol Sloane if you think their backyards are small, you should check out their roads.
  20. yeah look, i'm in for cruises and dinner meets, but if this is gonna turn out to be some skid runs and "check me out i'm a touge superstar" event, then count me out. Besides, my gearbox is fucked for now, so I can't be goin up mountians.
  21. technically my chassis is the same as a GTR, even though its a GTS4. So if I unbolted all the things on my chassis that made it a GTS4 and bolted on all the GTR bits, would it be a GTR? For all intents and purposes it would be identical to a GTR. sometimes its more an emotional stance than a rational one.
  22. they serve lamb ribs and stuff too.
  23. anyone fancy a steak at pig n whistle? i'm craving one, and there's one at indroo
  24. My gearbox shat itself and I've found a couple of potential replacements, but they're both out of non turbo cars. Just so I don't have to trawl the service manuals, does anyone know if the N/A gearbox and turbo gearbox for the RB20's interchangeable? In particular are the ratios the same etc?
