The 21U turbo is too small for a RB2530det engine. It can work with one of our externally gated 6 bolt .82 rear housings. The housing comes as a kit with screamer pipe and turbosmart 45mm gate.

Updating results. This is from our ATR43SS3ProR model in T3 TS turbine housing. This turbo can be considered as an upgraded version of a G30-900. -ENGINE: RB25Det Neo -CAR MAKE: Nissan -MODEL: R33 GTST -ENGINE BUILD SPECS: Forged bottom end with upgrade valve springs. -INJECTORS: Bosch 1600cc injectors with twin 460L Pump -TURBO: HyperGear ATR43SS3ProR in T3 TS .82 rear housing -CAMS: Stock rb25det -FUEL TYPE: E85 fuel -AUTO/MANUAL: PPG 6 Speed sequential -Diff: Stock -TORQUE: 755Mn -HUB or CHASSIS DYNO: Hub dyno -POWER OUTPUT: Green ATR43SS3ProR 512rwkws @ 27psi Vs Purple TD06SL2-25G 437rwkws @ 27psi (Before turbo upgrade) Dyno Vid: draft_11786942234_1642560952_5e5fc90b-0b32-4e87-81d1-bf9790119886.mp4

I personally think Measurement in volumetric makes more sense, eg. 8cm^2 10cm^2 housings form Mitsubishi turbos. R is measured as center of the turbine wheel to center of nozzle throat of where Area is calculated. Installing larger turbine wheels without distorting the layout of the turbine housing makes no changes to A/R. When comes to milking power out of little 21U R33 turbine housings I usually remove a section of the nozzle for extra flow. Alteration in reposition of nozzle throat increases A/R in the way of how it has been calculated. I did a bunch of FNT T3 .82 rear housing 13 years ago by adding a piece to the nozzle moving nozzle throat further down the snail, that counts as decreasing A/R of the housing. It did make a difference to in response however. OP6 gets really laggy once the nozzle is removed (A/R+), I usually leave the factory layout.

Yes the external kits bolts on stock exhaust manifold and fits factory front pipe. Fits R33 and R34 chassis only
-
Yes, They can be built as an internally gated stock hot side bolton unit. External gate / External plumb back kits are also available.

Updating result with ATR46SS-1 turbo with a custom T3 .82 rear housing. So the car originally pulled 652rwkws maxing out 3 inches turboback exhaust and current external gate spring: A bleeder pipe added to the front pipe, and stronger actuator spring added to the external gate. Unfortuantely we are reaching the torque limiter of the dyno, so we did a short run in 5th gear. The car have managed to pull 718rwkws @ 37psi on E85 fuel before breaking the gear box. Refresh build details: Engine Specs: Rb25det head with forged Rb30det bottom Forged pistons and con-rod Upgraded Valve springs HKS step 1, 256/ 264 drop in cams 5-0 Crank trigger kit Fuel system: 1650cc Bosch fuel injectors Two 460L fuel pumps ECU: Haltech ECU Turbo side: Hypergear ATR46SS-1Turbocharger 6 boost high mount exhaust manifold Turbosmart 50mm external gates 3.5 inches turbo back exhaust with 2.5 inches bleeder pipe Hub Dyno Tune: Chequeredtuning Victoria

Replace the G30 770 or upgrade g35 900
hypergear replied to Russdmuss's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I found G30 turbine doesn't have enough turbine to run 900 series compressor wheel, you find G35-900 makes alot more top end. Having said that I can rebuild and hybrid your current 770 that makes more power without too much lag and better reliability. Add: After reading your dyno print. It should not reach shaft speed limitations at 26psi. This usually happens when compressor is fully maxed. When I was conducting bearing threash hold few years back, 54/55mm chra exploded at 38psi while 58/62mm configuration exploded at 41psi. Test conducted based on a built EA888 Gen 3 engine. -
Here's something I've done 10 years ago. Making custom comp wheeled TD06SL2-20G. Not sure if that became the 20rs equivalent 😂 R33 GTST, Rb25det with forged pistons and valve springs. Turbo was in 10CM rear, Externally gated run on E85 fuel.

Hi, on E85 fuel and internal gate, 54mm ATR28SS15 in T2 .64 rear housing will do nicely. I've used BC Step 2 (272dur /12mm) on SR20det for 300rwkws+ applications

Turbo services in Sydney + options for upgrade
hypergear replied to PranK's topic in General Automotive Discussion
We usually charge 600 to do both including supplying of new flaper valves and busing assembly. Those housing materials are pretty hard, takes a good couple of hours to do. -
Hi, G3 profile with Rb25det turbo housings will be fine for around 270rwkws on Pump 98 fuel internally gated. I can supply donor housings if interested. To make the power you will need 3 inches metal induction pipe, 600x300x100mm front mount cooler, at least 3 inches turbo back exhaust, programmable ecu, along with injectors, fuel pump, you've got.

Turbo services in Sydney + options for upgrade
hypergear replied to PranK's topic in General Automotive Discussion
N55 is a single turbo, that high flow service linked above including ball bearing convetion and something similar to a G33-900 wheel set with line kit. N54 are two little singles like a Rb26DETT. They make good power after high flowing, I usually build them to gtx2860 in specs. Wastegate bushing can be repaired. To machine four housings, two new cores and two wastegate flapper / bushing mods, its not any cheaper however. -
Updating result, This is from our latest ATR45SS-3 model, Its made for 100bhp applications. Same car as above. It managed to pull 636rwkws at 34psi. Drive ability wise, car hits 300rwkws by 4K and 450rwkws with 1014Mn of torque by 4250 RPM. Pretty good to drive with crazy amount of mid range torque. Run against ATR43SS-3ProR turbo from earlier. r33636rwkwsmusic2good1min.mp4

R33's back on the dyno again for development work, testing an new 6 blade 55mm prototype turbine. Using ATR43SS3ProR turbo for back to back test. New turbine shown a slightly laggier curve, but picked up 16kws on same boost pressure with smoother mid / top range power and torque band. Final run of 509 rwkws @ 25psi Engine Specs: Rb25det head with forged Rb30det bottom Forged pistons and con-rod Upgraded Valve springs HKS step 1, 256/ 264 drop in cams Fuel system: 1650cc Bosch fuel injectors Two 460L fuel pumps ECU: Haltech ECU Turbo side: Hypergear ATR43SS-3 ProR Turbocharger 6 boost high mount exhaust manifold Turbosmart 50mm external gates Hub Dyno Tune: Chequeredtuning Victoria

I've included some data from current model ATR43SS-2 turbo. Its very different to the 2019 version mentioned by Hardsteppa, and makes a lot more power. On this R33 Rb25det, it sit on 25psi by 4K and 372rwkws, that was on pump 98 fuel externally gated, They do around the 400rwkws on E85 fuel. Turbo can sounds like a Jet, I've attached a short vid from a recent dyno tuning:

Updating result: R33’s back at Chequered tuning for with another of my in-house built specials. Car had no other changes apart from the turbocharger, we managed to get: 516rwkws @ 26psi 569rwkws @ 29psi 606rwkws @ 30psi 642rwkws @ 34psi Turbo’s holding boost with pretty consistent gain per additional PSI of pressure is added. Unfortunately my 3 bars Haltech Map sensor (vacuum is a bar) was very maxed, be back on the dyno to max out this turbo once new sensor arrives. Pretty successful day over all.

Updating this thread as some of yous would have seen on FB. Not about turbos this time, but a piece of information for people seeking the Rb2530det rout. I've attached results of my built Rb25det with Kelford cams Vs my built Rb30det with HKS cams, making it a reasonable comparison of what Rb25det Vs Rb30det is like. Both engines had identical setups, E85 fuel, made the same power, while the Rb30det was 1300RPM better in response, more power every where and 137Mn of extra torque. I’ve also attached result of differences HKS cams made in comparison to stock Rb25det cams on the Rb2530det engine.
