  1. try and squeeze a gen3 in there with a squid hanging off each side. will make the power easily, minimal lag, lighter engine than the rb and will sit further back
  2. wow. just wow. $110 an hour? holy shit. most workshops round here charge $50 to $70 an hour and the dealerships charge around $95. joys of living in a small town. (waits for the usual "yeah but i wouldn't take it to them because they wouldn't know shit" type response so i can reply saying how one of those mechanics that charge that amount has a 10 second sr20 powered datsun stanza...)
  3. ecu won't give it "heaps" more power. you'll get maybe 10 to 15kw with a good tune, less with a shit tune.
  4. ecu and injectors are about all that will transfer over. exhaust won't unless you go a super loud fart cannon but that won't give you power gains on a natro (will most likely drop power). if it is gutless as you say then either you have high standards, or the engine is shagged. they aren't a super powerful engine but they are a light car so should feel ok. throw on a set of extractors and a 2.25" exhaust and above 4000rpm it should really get up and go (the missus SSS pulsar does)
  5. how about you take note of how many L's you are putting in instead of just saying "a tank" as that could mean 45L or 65L, or if your fuel gauge is totally fubar'd, 25L. work out your fuel economy into a L/100kms form then you can see exactly how bad your economy is. if you do mostly highway driving and your economy is over 10L/100kms then your o2 sensor needs replacing. if you do mostly city driving and give it the beans a fair bit then you may see anywhere up to 17L/100kms and replacing the o2 sensor won't do a thing since it only used by the ecu on light throttle. if you drive it normally, but do a lot of stop/start driving in traffic then you could see anything from 12L/100kms up to 14L/100kms, it really does depend. one thing to pay attention to is how long your car takes to come up to temp. if the needle isn't to the centre of the gauge within 5 mins of driving then you need a new thermostat and that should help with economy. also, if you are one of those people who let the car idle until it is up to temp before driving off, then that will be making your economy worse, plus it is a waste of time and fuel and it can actually cause more wear on the engine than driving like a grandma straight away.
  6. z32 + nistune
  7. this made me LOL. i was watching summernats on tv today (i was bored) and some chick was in the burnout comp. they showed her afterwards. looked like a 50 year old truck driver, LOL.
  8. actually it wasn't the pin style ones that had the recall, it was the ones with the ratchet setup where you just lift the lever and they would drop back down. the ratchet mechanism wasn't locking in properly.
  9. I only do it if i'm playing then have to do something. As for tv, well yes i do use playtv, but the tv also has a hd tuner in it so i can still watch tv while it is going, and we generally have everything we want set to record and that still works while playing
  10. i set a race going while i took the missus to work, then another one while i went to pick her up, so it's more like free money/XP also the fact that since you can't exit out of the game halfway through a championship, like you could on gt4, i can get all the money without having to sit there for ages. if there is something i want to watch on tv i can just watch it and swap back to the game on the ads to start the next race, etc.
  11. Nah b spec is since you don't need to spend ages playing. Just set it going and walk away.
  12. my B-spec is now up to 17, about to go 18. gotta get to 20 before i can get to the extreme events to get to the ones where you can really get some decent money and XP. A-spec is up to around level 28.
  13. I'm about 2.5 million short of the 2010 f1, so i won't be doing those races
  14. Ok si it appears that the power restrictions don't apply to you as i was able to compete in the 300hp fr challenge in my 900hp race tuned corvette.
  15. Latest round of seasonal events is a bit stupid. Bugger all money or points. They are more like normal races in the game. There are 4 different race types (FF, FR, 4wd and ferrari - F1 cars). There are power limits on the first 3. Hope the ferrari races give better prizes than the ff ones.
  16. If they made it so you could have 1000hp and make it realistic, it would suck for racing. 1000hp in a skyline would make boost high in the rev range so you'd find yourself have to drop an extra gear on some corners just to keep it on boost. That sort of poweris ok for drags but not that great for track work
  17. highly doubt it will be the pump. possibly the cold start valve, or could be your AAC valve dicking up (even though you just cleaned it).
  18. do you mean that it is roaring loudly all the time, or can you simply hear it spinning/drawing air? if it is the latter, then that is how they work. they spin whenever the engine is moving, however when the engine gets hot they engage more and spin a bit faster (and therefore are louder). if it is roaring all the time then the clutch may be stuffed or you may have an overheating issue (don't trust the stock gauge too much).
  19. i use those cheap nasty jack stands that you simply slide the pin through the hole (no fancy levers or anything like that to fail).
  20. i had one of the c6 or zr1 corvettes (the supercharged 7L one or whatever it is) with racing modifications done to it that i'd used in other races. i was in the lead by the end of the second or 3rd lap. ended up lapping half the field.
  21. as people have said, with the stock ecu it can't be done. if you have an aftermarket ecu then it is easily done. fitting is a bit of a pain in the arse though. as for as what else you need, a new set of O-rings for the injectors is about it.
  22. the fuel bit is misleading. you have to remember that since that info is from the US, and since they use a different fuel rating system to us, you can't put 91 RON fuel in them (if you notice the info about the fuel says PON instead of RON). you still need to run them on premium unleaded.
  23. we got a ford courier with a hold in the side of the block big enough to fit your fist into where a piston had come out to do a skid
  24. I sort of don't get the point of getting a console to mod it. If you want something to put different programs and applications, etc, on then get a pc. I see a console as someting that i can simply put the game into and play it without having to worry whether i have compatible hardware, etc. However i am somewhat hypocritical in this though. I have rooted my phone to run a newer version of android but that is because after a few months of the phone company saying an update is on it's way they turned round and said that they were no longer going to update it (except in america) so i was stuck on android 1.5 (and a buggy version of it at that) which is somewhat obsolete as a lot of new apps won't work on it.
  25. ahahaha, it's not that they have no idea how to do it, it's just that they are too lazy to sit down and work out how to do it, especially if they suspect that you simply want them to tell you how to do it so that you can go an do it yourself.
