  1. i had a 94 model 180sx. it had digital climate control. think it may have only been the early CA powered ones that didn't (could be wrong though) emtea, all 180sx, regardless of what year model it was is a s13. unlike the silvias that went to s14 and s15 in the later models, all the 180sx were s13. they also all had the same sr20 engine, where as the s14 and s15 got different turbos and variable cam timing. all that got changed on the 180sx engine was the colour of the rocker cover.
  2. i think it's almost too early to say what out of the current cars (other than xr6t) will be tuner cars in the near future as the cars are still too expensive. if you go back 10 years, how many skyline imports were really in the tuner scene in australia? very few because of the cost and supply. most of the cars i mentioned earlier still have good 'tuner' appeal, so you will get the tuner companies doing good work with them, but that doesn't mean that the general public will flock to them. the cost is still a massive factor (r35 GTR is a perfect example). i think that at this point in time, the 2 biggest 'tuner' cars currently being worked out of the late model stuff would be the xr6t and anything with a LSx motor in it.
  3. carbon fibre panels are illegal, as far as i know. secondly, off all the mods you did to your GTS, only maybe 1 or 2 would've actually gained you any power (apexi intake and CAI feed to it).
  4. i think the new hyundai coupe thing will be one for sure. the RS focus have a decent following too. then the typical rx8, wrx and evo and of course the r35, as well as the above mentioned 350z and 370z.
  5. baaaaaaaahahahaha, *tips hat*
  6. this. a 31 with a motor that weighs the same as the rest of the car over the front wheels is going to be terrible to drive for anything other than circle work. if you want to impress people with your driving, doing it with a stock or relatively stock motor and then try to match the times of someone with more power. don't just try to get all the power you can to make your times as fast as possible because this then leaves you open to failing when someone with much less power runs faster times. besides, if you want to have a burnout car you don't need that much power. a stock LS1 with a tune will more than do the job. hell the old rb30 with a bit of work done will more than do the job. but i still reckon a LS1 is the way to go, or any all alloy v8. the least amount of weight over the front end the better. don't bother with the big build, just bolt it in and have some fun and save the money for something useful, like a house.
  7. why do women come on here, ask for suggestions, ignore all suggestions because they want to do it their way, decide on somewhat silly ideas then proceed to quote ridiculous prices as if we will all be impressed? this thread reminds me of a certain other thread about supercharging a 34. i'm willing to bet that 1 of the following 3 things happen..... 1: we never hear anything further about this once this thread dies but in 6 months time the OP is back with some other silly idea 2: the engine gets built, goes in and goes 'pop' 3: the engine goes in and gets crashed in a very short amount of time. and dare i say it, if blowing 40k on an engine isn't an issue for someone who is only 21, i'm guessing 1 of the following 3 is true as well.... 1: rich daddy who is paying for it (especially if he's spent $36k on a motor himself) 2: she is a drug dealer 3: she is a stripper/prostitute, but then a r31 wouldn't really be the car of choice as 1 night's work would pay for a 31....
  8. basically that's what people say when they car is kept in a garage at night. it doesn't mean that it has never been out in the rain, etc. if you were to take "it's always kept under cover" literally then it must mean that whenever it is driven he has some sort of cover over the top of it, or only drives it in an under ground carpark..... so it's always kept under cover, except for when it isn't.
  9. actually you can. a built 25 will shit all over a stock 26.
  10. any v8 conversion will cost a bit of money in fabrication (engine mounts, gearbox mount, custom tail shaft if needed) but will give you good results for a burnout car. a LS1 would be good since they are a light motor (lighter than the stock RB), and they are relatively cheap these days. hardly different though. if you want to be different, try to squeeze a turbo 'BARRA' 6 engine (xr6 turbo engine) in there. might be a bit of a squeeze and will put a touch more weight over the front end, but they have a buttload of torque, are easy to make good power out of, and it will be pretty much one of a kind. just might not fit in with the v8 bogans at summernats as well as a v8 would though.
  11. not really. if you take it to a radiator place they would be able to check it out for you and give you an idea of how much it would cost to clean it. it will more than likely be not much less than a cheap alloy radiator.
  12. even if the water pump is failing it should still heat up in a matter of minutes when driving (if you are on of the people who let it sit there and idle until it is warm, then it will take much longer than if you are driving). i'd say that your radiator is probably quite blocked (which a flush won't do a thing to fix).
  13. how is the tyre wear on that tyre? does it show signs that it was like that before you worked on it? if it does then it may be that the car has been in a crash. if the tyre wear is even then i'd be taking it straight to a tyre or suspension place and get them to inspect it and do a wheel alignment.
  14. i'm not sure on the cost, but i'd inspect the leak more closely and see if it is coming from the head gasket, or from the rocker covers (which is a common leak)
  15. don't forget a turbo gearbox (unless the r34 natro boxes are stronger than the r33 natro boxes), brake upgrade (if needed), LSD. yes you need to notify the transport department. you may possibly need it blue plated. to be honest, for what it will cost you to do it you could sell the natro, buy a turbo 34 and do mods to it and be making more power than a stock 26.
  16. a mate of mine had a worked rb30E powered 31. went well for what it was, but a v8 would be better. know of another guy in town with a datsun stanza burnout car. pretty sure it has a natro sr20 in it. they start in 2nd gear and stay in 2nd gear. if the revs start to drop too much they give it a squirt of nitrous to pick the revs back up. you want torque for a burnout car so that you can get into the highest gear possible (the faster the tyres are going, the more smoke you'll get). this also means you can get plenty of smoke without having to keep it banging on the limiter, which helps with engine temps and engine life.
  17. ok after thinking about that some more, having a second relay may be the easier option. have the first relay setup as normal (using the parkers as the signal). the second relay could be used between the first relay and the lights. this one would get it's signal from the indicators, however the 12v in wouldn't actually be 12v in, it would be the wire coming from the first relay and the ground signal out would be going to the light. this would require a relay that is closed in the normal position though, which may be hard to find as they are normally open.
  18. i think i get what he is saying. now i'm not entirely up on relays, but can you have a relay where it has 2 power sources, and if only 1 has power it will be switched on, but if both has power it turns off? if you can then that would be the way to do it. the signal from the indicators would then come as a pulse making the light turn on and off as it pulses.
  19. 6k would buy you a turbo 33 (i'm talking complete car).
  20. wreckers
  21. don't expect too much from selling your lancer. most 'limited edition' lancers were sold by the thousands and are nothing special. unless it's turbo'd it isn't worth much.
  22. start by getting the engine number. then look it up on this site http://deniliquinsportingcarclub.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=47:engine-number-register&catid=35:nissan-skyline-information&Itemid=9 that will give you an idea of what model it came from. that said, most of the RB26 engines had oil issues, they were just the worst on the early r32's.
  23. the car may in fact be real, but in those pics it's a photoshop. this discussion has been had before. close inspection of the picture shows lots of signs it's a photoshop. there is the massive patch of different colour that ten four pointed out, as well as the dodgy blur work along the front of the bonnet (it should be a clean line it a relatively even gap the whole way across, but it isn't). as well as the fact that that appears to be the only picture of it.
  24. sounds like they may have simply doubled up the wiring, so the indicator gets power both when the parkers are on as well as when you indicate.
