  1. yeah as above, just use hook it in to the existing wires
  2. the rocker cover seals leaking on the RB engines seem to be a factory option, same as the leaking power steering pump on 33's. the new seals are easy to get and easy to fit.
  3. a better analogy would be to sue holden for people speeding in its cars
  4. as someone who has been using e10 on all the cars i've owned for over 2 years now (one car has been continuous for 2 years, and used it in other cars i have owned in that time), i can tell you that your statement about it killing cars is crap. i'm just guessing that the damage (if it was in fact caused by the fuel at all) was probably done due to not maintaining things like fuel filters and then the engine ran lean due to the filter being blocked
  5. engine quality the toyota engines are much better than the nissans. as far as your conversion goes though, i would stick with the nissan engine as for the extra money that you save on putting the rb25 in you could do some upgrades to it and be better off. however if it was me doing it, i would scrap the idea of using the r32 shell and just go out and buy a complete r33 gts-t and mod it. cost wise it is going to work out similar, considering the price of 33's these days and what you would get back from selling out the stripped parts. weight wise it is only a fraction heavier than a 32 (would only be a few kg's in it between a 32 with a 25 and a 33), especially once they are both stripped down to track spec. but as i said, that is the way i would go. you can do what you want
  6. those prices are set by the fuel company, not so much by the actual servo. and considering that they only make a few cents a litre, you can't really blame them putting prices up at peak times. the government makes more out of fuel than the servos do (fuel excise is about 38 cents, plus the GST, so if fuel is $1.30, about 50c of that goes to the government). people pay a few dollars for a bottle of water which they could get out of the tap for free, but complain when servos makes an extra 2 or 3 cents profit per litre on fuel. at the end of the day, it's only a dollar or 2 extra that they make on the higher days anyway. some people will use more fuel driving to the cheaper servo that what they are saving by going there. people could save more money buy altering their grocery shopping habbits than what they would pay extra in fuel at peak times.
  7. have you or anyone you know ever made a mistake at work? has anyone you know ever had an accident on the road where they were at fault (whether it be just a bump in a carpark even just caused by opening the door too far, or being silly on the road and lost it but managed to get away with no damage or minimal damage)? has anyone you know ever dropped a plate or glass at someone elses place? i don't mean to sound like i'm sticking up for them, but to assume that accidents will never happen is a bit much. sure they should've accepted it was their fault, but i'm sure they've also had their fair share of people try and rip them off in the past too. the other thing is, did you see the car get put on the transporter at the importers? if not, did you ever think that possibly it was the importer that damaged the car?
  8. to answer the question of what causes the seals to go, old age.
  9. i think you will find that it is an industry wide thing and not just them. talk to enough people and you will hear stories about every single carrier. my ex had her car transported from mt isa to gympie a few weeks back, not sure who it was though, but her car went missing for about a week. i work in retail and have for the past 10 years. i've had stuff go missing, wrong stuff turn up (not addressed to me), stuff turn up damaged, etc. from pretty much every company freight company i've dealt with.
  10. newsagents don't automatically give reciepts either. some will, but 90% of them won't. most fast food places won't either. it just comes down to the industry. i'm actually thinking about ticking the option in my computer system to only print reciepts if the customer asks for one for the simple fact that over half the people would either say they don't want it when i hand it to them or just take it then leave it on the counter and walk out. and with the amount of sales that servos, etc do, they would go through a hell of a lot of paper if they printed a receipt out for every customer, which would then mean higher prices.
  11. i just remembered that i have an old motor magazine (or maybe it was wheels) somewhere where they were test driving something like this where the owner had managed to shoehorn a holden v8 into one. can't remember if it was just the 5.0L of the gen3 (it was late 90's or 2000 when the 304 was still in production). either way, i think they said it would light up the tyres in any gear, even at high speeds on a track
  12. i know a guy on his 3rd gearbox, but his is was the mid to late 90's version (the original shape) and he flogs the arse out of it. also saying that the evo is more reliable than the wrx, well you would expect it to be as it costs a fair bit more, however other than the guy i know who goes through gearboxes, and another guy who blew the turbo while sitting flat to the floor along the highway seeing how fast it's top speed was, i haven't really heard that many more issues about it.
  13. unfortunately brakes and chassis don't help once you have the accident, and the later model commodores and falcons (from mid 90's onwards, and especially from around 200 onwards) are pretty safe as far as occupant safety goes in a crash. the reasonably new stuff would be much safer than an old skyline. also just because you own a skyline doesn't mean you look after it better than someone who owns a commodore. just because you don't see heaps of bogans driving around on spinners in a skyline doesn't mean it doesn't happen. also i think you will find that a lot of skyline (and other import owners) get booked for driving around with bald tyres, etc. you've got to expect to see more accidents on the news involving commodores and falcons than skylines for the simple fact that they would out number skylines by at least 100 to 1.
  14. i just went through a few forums and most of them don't have much useful info. people have asked the question about putting a rwd engine in a fwd car or vice versa and 99% of the answers are just "no it won't" or "why not just get the right motor?" and other useless responses, yet most of the people saying that don't know why they don't fit. i managed to find a few posts that actually explained the differences (there were plenty of posts about differences in spec, but not about physical differences such as engine mount locations etc). one of the main problems is the starter motor mounts differently, however i did find a pic of someone who had worked around this with a bit of fabrication. still not sure about the intake manifold though. i can't remember how much work the guy i know had to do to get his to fit.
  15. no i didn't. that's why i said that it would be released on the ps3 even though it has been made obsolete by 2 newer consoles
  16. you obviously aren't familiar with apple users...........
  17. why not try, oh i don't know, an exhaust shop maybe?
  18. there needs to be some sort of bullshit police to stop these types of programs airing complete dribble.
  19. he means FWD engines. however it can be done as far as putting them in a rwd car, just takes a bit more work (not sure how much though). i know someone that had a fwd engine in a datsun. had to alter the firewall to fit the distributor in though as the rwd engines don't use the dizzy. not sure if the VE does or not. the s14 manifold may just bolt straight up as the stud pattern may be the same, just the fwd manifolds are designed to feed from the back of the motor (gearbox end)
  20. pretty sure the rb26's have an external ignitor pack, which could well be the problem since you have ruled out the other 2 possibilities.
  21. i had a similar issue except mine went to the floor and stayed there. it was caused by the clutch fork pivot bolt inside the gearbox being snapped. but in your case i'd say it's more to do with the master cylinder or possibly slave cylinder.
  22. could be wheel balance, could just be shitty tyres, could be a damaged rim, and if it stops doing it the moment you lift off then it is an engine mount
  23. gt5 fail number 1 http://www.godisageek.com/2010/02/gran-tur...in-autumn-2010/ gt5 fail number 2 http://www.gtplanet.net/ so basically the first story means that we will not in fact see gt5 before xmas (because we all know how accurate their time frames are) and then in 7 years time when gt5 finally does get released (it will still be released on ps3 yet they will be up to the PS5 by then) you will have the choice of driving a nissan mica and a toyota yaris as they will have scrapped every other car that they have said will be in the game.
  24. yeah i saw that, but it was story time so i just went ahead with my story
  25. don't the auto diffs also have different ratios to the manual?
