  1. if it's the light i'm thinking of, then no, they aren't fog lights. they don't have a bulb in them.
  2. +1 for it being the bov.
  3. i wouldn't put too much belief in the kms on the clock. often the true kms of an import isn't what the speedo reads. just find a clean one that seems to match how many kms are on the clock. you may get one that has 80,000kms on the clock but is far from tidy, and you might find one with 140,000kms that is as clean as they come. as for conversion vs buying manual, i think you will find that buying the one already manual will be a lot cheaper unless you plan on doing the work yourself and can get the parts cheap. if you are going to pay someone else to do it, i know someone who got charged around 5 or 6k drive in drive out. to buy a gearbox, pedal box, clutch, etc (and diff if you want to do it properly) i wouldn't expect much change out of 2k, probably more. i've seen wreckers wanting $1500+ just for the gearbox.
  4. the lower torque would probably be a good thing. in a car so light the last thing you would want is a bucket load of torque coupled with AWD (unless bias was quite a way to the rear). you'd sneeze and jab the throttle a bit as you sneezed and spin off the road and end up upside down in a gum tree 300m away from the road, lol.
  5. 308's came with a death rattle from factory, LOL that reminds me, i should really get my 253 going.
  6. yeah a mate of mine told me something similar. he just bought a dyno off them (ordered it either december last year or at the start of january) and was waiting for it. i happened to be talking to him about dyno dynamics being in trouble a few weeks back (mid jan) and he said that they would be back online in a week, which roughly coincides with the date of that press release. either way, he has his dyno now so he's happy.
  7. yeah the issue of it being a 2 door is a major soft cock excuse. ask him if he thinks a 4 door barina is more safe than a 2 door skyline? if he says yes then tell him to grow a brain. a 2 door skyline is pretty much just as safe as a 4 door skyline. that said, as far as actual safety ratings go, there would be plenty of cars out there with higher safety ratings as i don't think they are that high on the safety ratings (not that bad, but not that good either).
  8. for it to have destroyed the engine it would've had to have been stuffed to start with. as for driving more than 50km ruling out the noise being bearing, i wouldn't agree. my mate had a courier ute that had a big end rattle for a few weeks before it finally blew a hole in the block. he probably did 400kms or so in that time. and it would still do a burnout with a hole in the block, LOL
  9. "don't expect it to be fast" is somewhat of an understatement. that is almost the slowest combination of a skyline there is (only slower is the single cam rb20 or the ca18). but if you want it for an everyday driver and aren't after performance, go for it.
  10. also what about the EJ20 or 25 from a wrx? but have to be a fan of the sound
  11. the flange probably isn't 3", but it probably bolts up. when i got my 33 it had a 3" front pipe bolted to a 2.5" cat bolted to a 2" catback. then before i get a new cat i had a 3.5" catback system bolted to that 2.5" cat. generally all the bolt holes are pretty close
  12. another thing that takes off the edge for me is the service schedule. you basically have to mortgage your house to pay to have it serviced everytime you reverse it out of the garage. to me the gtr just seems as though nissan have run it too close to the limit in order to try and make it a supercar. sure anyone that can afford to buy a gtr can afford to have it serviced, but my point isn't about the cost, but about the annoyance of having to service it twice as often as something like a porsche.
  13. it isn't the ethanol that would possibly do any damage, but the lower octane. as for the octane rating making a difference to performance, that isn't 100% correct. if you get a car tuned for 91 octane and run it on 98 there will be pretty much no difference. however if you take a car that is tuned for 98 octane and run it on 91 then it will run like snot due to the ecu retarding the timing to stop detonation. actually on fifth gear the other night they did some back to back dyno tests using 3 different fuels at different octane ratings. one was a base 91 octane i think and the other two were premium fuels (shell and BP) and the difference in power on some heap of crap like a golf or something like that was none. on something mildly sporty, there was about a 2hp difference, but on a wrx (that is designed to run on premium from factory) there was something like a 10 or 15hp gain from the 91 octane to the premium. on a non turbo skyline you could probably get away with using the e10 fuel without any dramas. if you wanted to play it safe you could just back the timing off via the CAS by a degree or 2, but personally i wouldn't bother.
  14. it is easier for an average rider to go fast in a car than on a bike.
  15. i don't have that much music (only about 3gb of it on the computer), and back in the cd i had a 10 disc stacker, then they started bringing out cd players that played mp3 format and i've been using that since (cd player in the car is about 7 years old now). have a cd player at work that plays mp3's at work as well. so since i get 10 hours worth of music on a disc i just burn a new cd every few weeks once i get sick of the old one
  16. ahaha, i loved UFO. i think i still have it somewhere. pretty sure i still have the base and soldier patches for it too where you can alter the inventory of the base and upgrade your soldiers equipment
  17. that is the point with any police chase. unless it was at night, coming the other way and you can turn off your numberplate light before you pass them so they at least can't get your rego, there is no point trying to escape the police no matter what the situation is. the moment they have your rego details it's game over. all you then do is piss the cop off even more so that when they do finally catch up with you they make sure to glue pieces of broken glass to the long arm of the law before they fist you with it.
  18. so it was just stories to scare children, like santa, the tooth fairy and michael jackson?
  19. now i'm not 100% sure about this, and you would be best of checking with qld transport, but i do recall a mate of mine having a whinge when he lost his licence a few years back that he wouldn't be able to drive his 180sx when he got his licence back because he had to be on his p's for 6 or 12 months after getting his licence back (despite having been on his opens before he lost his licence) and the vehicle restrictions were going to apply to him (this was when they first brought them in in qld).
  20. is it the wheel arch on the side that the filler cap is on? it could be the seal around the filler tube and where it meets the filler cap area on the rear 1/4 panel is damaged and allowing it to vent out a bit. when you take you cap off when the tank is nearly empty does it release pressure? if not then it could well be that seal. if it does, then that seal is fine. as for it being in the exhaust, that would be to do with the tune (even if stock ecu). obviously running rich
  21. i don't care if you aren't prepared to discuss it with someone without a r32 gtr. as i said, EVERYONES FAN WILL COME ON AT DIFFERENT AMBIENT TEMPS BECAUSE IT IS CONTROLLED BY THE TEMP OF THE COOLANT, NOT BY OUTSIDE AIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! stop being so stupid and get a bloody water temp sensor. ah screw it, people have tried to help you out but you don't listen. i hope your overheating issue gets worse and you end up blowing your engine.
  22. and here i was thinking we had a new "how to remove cum stains thread"
  23. +11ty billion georgie is 1 of the boys, so to speak. she didn't post up a thread saying oo look at me i own a skyline and i have a vagina so that makes me some super cool chick. any girl who posts up saying that they are a girl with a skyline in the name of the thread as their initial introduction is asking for attention, otherwise they wouldn't go out of their way to do it (which although georgie has done that, we already know she is a girl with a skyline so it is common knowledge already). she casually popped in and said hi, flashed a bit of skin and gained her respect. she also didn't create some thread about how she was going to create some mega hp car and ask how she should do it and then tell everyone that they were wrong and she was going to do it her way and everyone could rooted like some other member has done. she has earned respect from us through the less is more approach (which also seems to be her views towards clothes by her pics, LOL).
  24. i must say that this is probably veilside's laziest work ever if you compare it to their other kits. their other kits they have added lips on front bars, then put more lips on the lips, and used as much fibreglass as they could get their hands on when making rear wings. but for this they have taken the less is more approach and walked around the car, and gone "ok lads, it's just gone 5pm on a friday arvo, so we'll just cut a few holes in the side of the front bar and stick some plastic guttering upside down under the rear bar and then we can all go home", LOL
  25. bahahahahaha, love it. does anyone think that the ipad is just the prototype iphone that they made before they shrank the technology down to the size of a phone? they probably had it sitting in some box somewhere and some work experience kid found it and jizzed his pants over it so they put it into production. gotta love apple, finding (read creating) gaps in the market that didn't exist and then making products to fill them. i suppose you gotta give them credit for that. they found an extremely gullible demographic and have grabbed it with both hands and are pumping products out to sell to them as fast as they can.
