it helped a lot. i think he was trying to say at the end that it wasn't oil. well if it was black but not oil it would've been carbon and unburnt fuel, caused by it running rich or the spark plug not firing. get a spare spark plug and pull the coil out and hook the spare spark plug up to it and turn the car over to see if it will spark. if it does then swap the spare plug with the one in the engine and try it again to make sure the spark plug isn't dead

can you please write that again in english? i don't speak 13 year old.

just so you know, the o2 sensor won't affect anything at wide throttle. the ecu ignores it then. the ecu only reads from it at light throttle for better fuel economy. once you give it the beans (basically anything over about 1/3 throttle, but also depends on rpm) the ecu goes from closed loop (where it alters the air fuel ratio according to what the o2 sensor is reading) to open loop (what the mapping in the ecu says).

the hubs on fixies generally aren't flip flop hubs. they are generally called "single speed" hubs and will just have 2 threads the same size but one will have a lock ring on it to hold the fixed sprocket on. so in short i'm saying that you're wrong and ghey

can't go any smaller than a 16t freewheel on the standard size thread on a hub. 16t+ = standard size, 13t, 14t, 15t = smaller size hubs with both sized threads are called flip flop hubs. so since the hub is designed to take a fixed wheel on the opposite side to the freewheel i'd say that there is an extremely good chance that it won't take anything smaller than the 16t.

ok did a very quick search and it is possible that there will actually be a january release date. this is from november 30, so very recent http://www.gtplanet.net/gran-turismo-5-com...christmas-2009/

my set top box is like that for both the epg and the info bar which shows what is on now and on next. mum's set top box though will bring up the epg for all channels at once but if you actually want to read about the show it will change channels as you select a different channel on the epg. for the people that have it, if you bring up the epg does it just show what is on currently and then everything following it or does it show the whole day? my set top box shows the whole day and doesn't automatically jump to the current time so you have to scroll down to the current time. also mine won't let you scroll the description (what happens on the show, not the name, although sometimes that would be helpful too) of a show if it takes up more than the small space provided, yet another brand of box i have used does. not sure if mum's does or not as i've only used it once or twice. does playtv allow you to scroll through the description of the show if it is too long?

that is the first time i have ever heard that. i (and pretty much every other person on SAU) thought it was when the AFM was reading too high a voltage for a set rpm and load and the ecu registered this and would back things off.
-
but a torque converter doesn't transmit the torque to the back wheels. if they did then automatics would be dramatically quicker than manuals but they aren't, even once you take into account the different gear ratios that autos have.

*puts down lump of 4x2 phew, thought i was going to have to open up a can of whoop-ass there -
i recommend michelin pro race 3 tyres. good for at least 10,000kms unless you skid them. 127tpi puncture resistant casing, light weight, roll well and fitted as standard to a lot of high end bikes. i also ran them on my road bike and never had a puncture and the roads round here are shit. but basically all of those high end tyres are good as for the gearing, when you say you want higher gearing, do you mean you want it to be easier or harder? if you want it easier, that can be changed much more cheaply than if you want it harder. to go easier would cost you about $20, but to go harder would cost you more. to go easier you could just get a bigger freewheel. but to go harder you need a bigger chainring on the front and may also need a new chain (as the old chain may not be long enough)

i would've hated to have bought a 250gb ps3 just before playtv was released since they are now bundling it. wow sight and sound have the bundle for $568, but dick smith have it with the blue ray remote for $588. they are the only 2 i have looked it, LOL

don't you know anything rowan? the sound of the cars is better on forza and that is everything when playing game. who cares about how the cars handle or anything like that? as long as the cars sound better and the graphics when viewed on a 1 million and 80p mega HD television are so much better that pretty much no-one but the forza fan can notice then the game is better. i don't give a crap about those sorts of things and love reading stupid comments by people who do. those people need to pry their hand off their cock long enough to step out into the light of day for the first time in 5 years and go and attempt to talk to someone of the opposite sex in real life. but even then they would probably complain that the woman's voice didn't sound as good in real life as it did on their dolby 6000.1 stereo system. i'm going to be playing gt5 on a standard old style television through it's crappy standard speakers. how good the graphics are or how good the sound is doesn't mean shit to me cause most of the time i will only have the sound up just loud enough to hear the engine noise cause i will be playing it while the missus is watching tv shows that i find boring as shit.

that isn't entirely true. in fact i would say that the opposite happens. the torque converter basically has the same affect as a slipping clutch. the revs of the engine are faster than the gearbox is spinning. this is why most auto cars these days have lock up torque converters which basically put it on par with a manual.
-
just to clarify, when you say the revs go crazy, do you mean the revs are jumping up and down, or it is just missfiring and losing power? if the issue is the revs actually jumping up and down, it may be a gearbox issue.

pffft sif read topics before posting in them in that case change my response to n15 SSS with turbo conversion and add r33 gts-t to the list as well as s13 hmmm, possible future spammer?

ahahaha, i should get a "shopping list" made up but have it in japanese and just say things like "egg rice seaweed" -
got any pics? been too long since i looked at a 33 interior.

i wouldn't be suprised if it was just the usual rocker cover leak. this is extremely common. if it is actually coming from between the head and the block then a compression test wouldn't show much as that only shows what is happening between the head and the block around the piston. the block could have a hole in the side of it and you could still get a decent compression test reading.

dash mat might look a bit crappy but it will mean that in 10 years time the dash won't look like crap. i have always used them in all my cars (except my 2 imports) because they also reduce a bit of glare off the dash and make it a touch easier to see out the windscreen at certain times of the day when the glare off the dash reflects up onto the windscreen. as for where to get one made, go and talk to the people at your local autobarn, etc. they should have a supplier that will make custom mats and may be able to make one up for you.

you are correct in what you say about the smaller gap giving a more reliable spark. a bigger gap at higher boost can result in the spark being blown out, so to speak. blind elk is correct though about a bigger gap being better. the bigger gap means there is a bigger.... lets go with fire front. the spark has a bigger surface area when arcing across so is able to ignite more fuel in it's duration. will it result in more power though? not enough to notice unless you were running seriously rich, but that would also make the bigger spark less reliable. as for the feeling of a loss in power, has the weather been hotter when you are feeling the loss of power? that will make a big difference in power, especially with a SMIC. in summer the stock cooler will suffer from heat soak extremely quickly at 12psi, resulting in a loss of power. you could probably drop the boost to 10psi and not lose much power on a hot day.

ahaha, this reminds me of the pulsar forums. they use "jap spec" for some of the n14's because series 1 n14's were built in australia and the series 2 were built in japan then imported by nissan. so they call the series 2 jap spec, although they are actually the same spec as the aussie ones and different spec to the JDM ones. there are a few slight difference in the appearance of the s1 and s2 n14's but it is just like the s1 and s2 r33's. and then there are guys on there with actual JDM pulsars. gets a bit confusing. the way that they talk about jap spec you would think that they are actually talking about JDM pulsars. but they will also use the term JDM on parts as the JDM pulsars had different grills one some models that didn't make it to the australian market. -
+1 for the n15 SSS. have one and love it. also a much nicer car to drive than a lancer. better ride, better handling, more go. out of the smaller cars i have driven 2 pulsars (one SSS, one base model), a lancer and a corolla. pulsar was the best provided it was the SSS. corolla was second best. lancer was last. for everyday use i don't think i could put up with a lancer, driving it for a few mins was bad enough. i actually preffered driving my mother in law's n13 pulsar to it and the lancer was much newer. corolla is ok but the seats aren't that good and the body roll gets to you a bit. the pulsar has a slightly firmer ride (but not rough), plenty or torque as well as plenty of go.

while talking torque and engines making less power but more torque, just look at tractors, etc. they will make thousands of nm's of torque at only a few hundred rpm, but they will only make the same sort of power of a small car. as for the dyno, when i have had my cars on the dyno the torque reading has usually been in newtons, not newton metres.
