Why Aren't We All Swapping To Superchargers?
Harey replied to No Crust Racing's topic in General Automotive Discussion
The best example as said previously is a twin screw supercharger feels like a larger capacity engine. It feels like no lag (obviously there is a tiny bit) and you can control exactly the % of power/torque that you want to make. -
One Speed Camera I Would Actually Support

You could brake when coming up to a camera so the person behind u gets a tailgating fine haha -
Why Aren't We All Swapping To Superchargers?
Harey replied to No Crust Racing's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I cant compare directly but my brother has a twin screw supercharged V6 and makes about 200rwkw and it is great in the wet. The power is so progressive, you can keep it on the edge of traction very easily. Whereas my turbo skyline is much harder, boost comes on so quickly that it looses traction quickly or your not boosting it all and getting traction. Obviously there is a massive difference in power/torque figures but I think the general principle is there. -
I cant find the other thread at the moment which has all the people who have built custom engines and only had them last 10-30,000kms. I would put more faith in a second hand factory engine then a custom built engine at your power levels. The ultimate would be a factory rebuild I think.

Now put a link on your website which says "Hypergear's Ultimate RB25 turbo - The ABE" Then watch the sales come flowing in!
-
Oh I didnt realise that result was on E85! Did you have a tune on 98 as well?
-
Pretty sure both you and Trozzle have ATR43G3 profiles not G2. Just so other people ordering dont get confused.
-
Thanks for the info. I blew my cooler piping yesterday as well dammit!! Had to be the hardest to get to join as well
-
Great result there Random I am! Does yours have a standard nissan compressor cover or is yours aftermarket? Same question for you Trozzle? I understand the 'ABE' spec turbo has a custom compressor housing.

R33 Gtr, Are My Injectors Maxing At 208awkw?
Harey replied to GD51LA's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Did they actually spend time tuning or just stop after one run when they saw the injector duty cycle?? -
Is There Any Benefit To This Turbo Set Up?
Harey replied to KezR33's topic in General Automotive Discussion
The ones I have seen run smaller turbos than you would normally, this must be due to less heat (and therefore energy) arriving at the turbo. I think overall they do offer less performance than a traditional setup but this can be outweighed by other advantages depending on your priorities. -
The difference to cars like newish corollas/mazda3s etc is that they feel like the throttle positions are more biassed towards light throttle. I reckon 1/3 throttle in a corolla is really opening the throttle body at 50+%. Cause you barely breathe on the thing and it takes off, but push the pedal further down and bugger all happens.

The way it is written looks very different. I think you should change it as the way it is written is basically defamation of a company. As others have said crank up the wastegate preload. It should only be roughly $100/hour of dyno time. It should be less than 2 hours. Also pickup one of those $30 turbotech boost valves. It solved the GT3076 problem the other day.
-
Yup and choose a really responsive turbo like a HKS GTRS so that you can enjoy as much boost as possible under 5,000rpm.
-
Seriously Tao, start churning out ABE spec turbos even just in sleeve bearing. That is an unbelievable result!
-
Agree with redevil, I dont even know where to start. Maybe go back to what your aim is from this. If you want to freshen up your engine with a rebliable increase in power. I would get a standard rebuild and choose a turbo to make 250-280rwkw. Heaps of info on this site about the turbo options. If you are not going to rev it over 4-5,000rpm why build an engine?? Why even own a skyline??

Tuners are in a bit of an awkward spot sometimes. They are the last step in the process and if anything is wrong they are expected to identify it and fix it. This can be a huge task if there are lots of different models of cars coming through. Then sometimes people will get upset if the tuner touches something they werent supposed to. Its a fine line on how much troubleshooting they should do, I still think they should call you though before finishing the job. Thats why I think it is important to find a tuner that works a lot on your type of car. Trent (Status Tuning) diagnosed so many things such as spark plugs, wastegate preload, boost controller and also was happy to drop the exhaust to see if that was restrictive. I was extremely happy with this. Although I have been to lots of other tuners who have not done this. I think this is partly due to Trent knowing these cars inside and out and also his commitment to customer service. I was on your side until your comment of "boost control of a hypergear". I have never seen a hypergear turbo have this terrible boost control you have. As you can see even the HKS 2835 drops 2psi of boost (joeyjoey), also there was another thread about a GT3076 with large can actuator having boost control issues. So clearly spending top dollar on turbos doesnt escape you from this issue. I dont think name calling is any way of getting people to help you, help which you clearly need.

What Are The Consquences Of Driving A Turbo Skyline?
Harey replied to SweetAsBrahh's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Lol at most in vic it is a 3 temerity point fine or something. It used to just be a $100 fine and no temerity points but they found too many were happy just to pay that. Your biggest issue is insurance as if something happens Ur not legally allowed to drive the car so won't be covered for anything. -
Just dropped it off to a place in Altona Meadows, the guy seemed very good and he can do it today. Cant wait to see the results.

Ok that's good to hear, thanks fellers! Trent its a trust return flow intercooler which I can't seem to find anywhere. If it was a jjr one I would just buy another one. The piping had to be modified to fit so I would have to get the piping modified again.
-
Yeah it is been repaired at least once before! I am a little worried that it may do this again. What other options do I have? Could I get a new end tank welded on? What other return flow intercoolers are there on the market? I am just worried that if the inlet and outlets are in different locations I will also have to modify the piping! GRRRR! This is the only second hand item I have purchased for my build and its hurting me already.

Hi all, A few of you will be aware I have been troubleshooting a loss in power and an increase in lag. I used my custom made boost leak to identify a boost leak at the outlet of my trust return flow intercooler. I tried replacing the hose and clamps and still keeps leaking. I pulled it all apart and the intercooler has a crack in the outlet end tank and a chip missing from where it connects to the piping. Can this be repaired? Is there anywhere in Melbourne people would recommend to fix this? Any help much appreciated!
