Rev210's 5min $5 Intake Pipe Mod For Your Stagea/skyline.
Harey replied to rev210's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
All I was trying to say is anything over 250rwkw dont even bother with it. Trent from Status can back it up, they even tried sleeving the lower half as well. It helped a little bit but was still 15rwkw difference between a 3" intake. Thats a big difference in power for little effort. Been there done that! However, on a standard turbo there is no issues whatsoever. Even a smallish hiflow might be fine too. -

Need Some Help With R33 Gts-t Upgrades
Harey replied to Jake91's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Remember that is an externally gated turbo, internally gated turbos are more expensive -
I was pretty happy with it! I was shocked that the 90 deg bend was the perfect fit. Even if you had some pipe that you could mould, the 90 deg bend is still exactly what you want. Cant wait to see the results tomorrow.

Here is my intake pipe! I am very happy with how it turned out. It took a few cuts to get it right. It fits in perfectly. I forgot to get a photo with it installed. Tao gave me a spare bov hard return line which I cut and connected to the port welded on to the intake pipe in the photos. I have neglected the pcv connection as its not required functionally. I might go back later and do that as well. Car is booked in for tomorrow to get the tune adjusted, cant wait!

Rb26 Twin Or Single? Best Power And Response
Harey replied to lookingforboost's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Just remember there is a gigantic difference in police attitude on modified cars between Townsville and NSW/VIC. A high mount turbo will be defected instantly by 90+% of Victorian cops. Not sure where the thread owner is located. And no bigger dump pipes will not cause more lag. They will either reduce lag or stay the same depending on how restrictive the old ones are. The theory from Garrett and others is the bigger the exhaust after the turbo the better. -
Need Some Help With R33 Gts-t Upgrades
Harey replied to Jake91's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Straight to the dyno results thread would be your best advice. If your not really into researching it yourself, use this forum to find a great tuner and get their recommendation. -
Use this forum to find a good GTR tuner in Sydney. Either create a thread in the NSW section or just read through the dyno results and see which ones have good results from Tuners in sydney.

Skyline Gtr R33 Turbo Upgrade 600-700hp Wich Turbo?
Harey replied to SKYGTRONE's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Read the "Got over 400kw" thread in this section, heaps of real world experiences of these types of setups. -
This is my mates one with the same mods. Interesting points yours makes more power down low and my mates one only starts to get in front from 130km/h onwards. Your dyno seems to stop early, do you have different diff gears? Could it be your cam gears have been adjusted for more low down power instead of up top?

Any results from the tune? Photos of the intake pipe please
-
Good to see another way of doing it! However, for the guys with larger turbos I am sure it would be beneficial to go straight to 3" as quickly as possible from the turbo. I know its the not exactly the same but its sort of like a bellmouth if it goes straight to the largest diameter. Thats my theory anyway.
-
Thats the next level of complexity again as you have to connect it up to the standard airbox. I am just talking about a pod filter so it doesnt have to be as precise.
-
Does anyone make an alloy one with bov/breather return that is good? I didnt know there were any at all, at any cost.

Rev210's 5min $5 Intake Pipe Mod For Your Stagea/skyline.
Harey replied to rev210's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
As Trozzle said it definitely wont suck closed with your mods. I had a lot more with no issues. Only once you upgrade the turbo you will start to get issues. Be careful with that silicone intake pipe it looks very long. I bought a metal one that was heaps shorter and the pod still didnt fit in the engine bay! -
Yup did that too but then you have no bov return and on the R34s in particular my tuner Trent said that it is tricky to tune around and almost always has some side effects. I had lots of pops when changing gears and some other less than perfect things. He strongly recommended to get the bov return plumbed back. Wasnt sure how to cut into silicone hose and try and fit a fitting into it. Even if it did work it would look very ghetto. So off with the plain silicone hose. So back to the current predicament haha
-
Yes that was what I bought first. On my R34 I couldnt even get the pod filter in the engine bay and I have the shortest pod on the market. Also the breather/bov fittings were in the wrong order and the other end to the standard lines?? On the plus they were very good to deal with and gave me a full refund, he said it fits R33s.

Can you post up the dyno so we can investigate? Would be good to see the boost graph too.

Are you serious?! I hope your not.

Are you going up against the mighty discopotato! Have you seen the length of his posts?? As we all know length DOES count... -
Built Rb26 Turbo Selection For Drift
Harey replied to Goodfellas's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
After reading one of discopotato's long posts twin scroll is more effective on 4 cylinder engines and less so on 6 cylinders and almost not worth it on an 8 cylinder. Sure it will be helpful on a 6 but I dont think the statement that it will be at least as good as a 4 cylinder is correct.
