Just for the record, I wasn't bagging your car, just pointing out the fact, you wont get that much power to the ground. But! What the heck, everyone on this forum is a HORSEPOWER HERO, what they forget is the magic figure called TORQUE. HP is all well and good but it does SFA until your doing about 7000rpm and 130mph. Carol Shelby once said "Horsepower sells cars, but TORQUE wins races" and he should know! For every time you wheel spin out of a corner (especially on Hillclimbs) you drop about a second off your time and that's a fact, not a bagging of your car or goals. The most successful open class hillclimb car I have ever seen was owned and driven by Peter Finlay. It was a Formula Ford chassis with REAL suspension, weighed about 600kg wet, with a 1600 BDA Cosworth engine in the back and full slick tires all round. He used to hold the track record on nearly every group 1 hillclimb circuit in Australia, if he still doesn't and he had nothing like 600HP at the wheels. I have a track DR30 and I just ordered the new turbo for the HKS hi mount manifold I brought in from Japan and I'm going to use it as a hillclimb car too. I'm not looking for anything like your aimed 600HP, but I recon I'll be waiting for you at the finish line more often than the other way round. The biggest trick in a turbo car is matching the turbo to the engine, not just hanging a monster on the side for mass HP and that is the most forgotten and common mistake. Would you think having over 350ft/lb @ 4500rpm a good thing or just shit compared to your 600HP??? Cheers, D -
Ricky, The problem your having now with the tailshaft companion flange is this; the DR30 flange is designed for the 3" dia tailshaft and therefore has a bigger flange. What you need is the flange to suit your tailshaft, it's not a biggie issue as I had the same problem fitting my Cusco diff into the PNV. Just take off the nut with a socket and with a suitable puller take off the companion flange and replace it with an R200 standard tailshaft flange and I think you will find that on an 260Z open R200 diff. If you want to sell the larger flange, I'll be very interested. Cheers, D

Try "Other Nissan Imports" in Skyline and other related etc. Classics advises R31 and before. Cheers, D
-
Sorry fella, but you should bail out of classics and take this thread to a better place on this forum, before the purists give you hell. Cheers, D
-
Try this, as it's a bit more cost friendly. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NISSAN-SKYLINE-R30-...p3286.m20.l1116 The biggest problem is if you have a seies II (84/85) because this model is covered in a supplement which is near impossible to find. Was once available through Bookworks, but unsure if still in print. Cheers, D

It's not worth the effort. It's a good book for referrence, but mainly pictures as it's all in Japanese text. Cheers, D

AND, I didn't pay anything like that for mine. About $49.00 plus postage from same seller. Cheers, D

I have this book & MANY others. What would you like to know? I can get parts of it translated by a guy at work. Cheers, D

Is there anyone here interested in swapping my good KDR30 track cars interior door trims, for some (any colour) a little less in condition. It would be a shame to deface good interior & I'll chuck in the back seats as well. Cheers, Dennis

Here I was thinking about all these fat cats in the Macarthur area having $180,000.00 odd to throw about on the new GTR and all the time, I was being fooled. Macarthur Nissan as it turns out is the ONLY GTR dealership south of the harbour and 1 of only 2 in Sydney, so if someone wants a GTR they don't have a lot of choices eh??? Does anyone know who got the first 3 in NSW & how they intended to pay for them??? Cheers, D

Your never going to get that much HP to the ground. You want something QUICK or just a tire frier??? Cheers, D -
Sorry Ricky, Welcome to the land of high performance motoring! R200 LSD's are fantastic bits of equipment, but they cost money to set them up right. They are the Japanese equivalent in IRS to a Ford 9 inch & virtually indistructable. You can break the gears (crown wheel & pinion) but never the LSD hemisphere which can be swapped from diff to diff. And any spares I have are being kept now I have a track car too! Cheers, D

Got 2 x 4.11 & 1 x 3.9:1 but none for sale. I am trying to swap a 4.11 for a 3.9 with Stewart Wilkins because I want a 3.9 for the PNV and both for the DR. A bit of advice for you Ricky, before you put your diff in, get it sorted by an good diff guy, because they were a sales gimmick more than a performance option. You will want the clutch shims operating at about 70lb, otherwise it will be an expensive single spinner. The pre load stock is about 20lb which is SFA. I have a Cusco 4.11 with about 75-80lb pre load that is destined for the DR for the October 4th Oran Park track day in NSW. Cheers, D

Brake Booster Plate

Can you provide PCD dimensions? D -
Make is probably the best option, but I know the 280ZX bar is offset, but you could be chasing a ghost again. Let me know when it's done. JFYI, I have 3 x R200 LSD's lol. Cheers, D
-
Probably find it very similar to Zed? Maybe go look at where you got your 260Z half shafts, you might be surprized that the bars are similar. Cheers, D
-
Ricky, It is Symetrical, measures 32cm pretty much centre to centre of the eyes, and has about 20mm spacing from outer edge of eyes. Is this the same as the C210? Cheers, D
-
I'll take pics of it tomorrow and you tell me maybe, or maybe I could look at my C210 service manual ans do some checking for myself eh! The part I have is out of a KDR30. Ummmmmmmmmmmmmm, bugger it, I'll take the piccy now. BBS, D

Funny you mention this! I just happen to have one I can put my hands on as I type this message. It's called Ghostrider Spares lol But seriously, I need to use it as a template for the late model R230 style finned diff rear covers. As you're in need of something fairly quickly, I'll try to get mine made or at least ordered next week, Tuesday or Wednesday when I'm off next. I want mine made from leaf spring type material, as opposed to SWR's mild steel. If you can wait a couple of weeks it will probably be for sale? Cheers, D
-
Easy way to find out? Jack up the rear end and turn the wheels. If only one turns you have a single spinner. Cheers, D
-
Ricky, How soon do you need this bar for??? Cheers, D

R30 Skyline (hatchback) For Sale On Ebay
Ghostrider replied to mpython78's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
This car is a PIG! This car was purchased by a member of this forum and asked if I would go and pick it up for him, which I arranged for 6:30pm tonight. The address was given as Corner of Ben Boyd Rd & Aubin St Neutral Bay and the seller doesn't live there at all. He surfaced from a house about 4 doors further down the road and I found him sitting in the car trying to start it. If anyone would like to inspect this car and give me their opinion, it is parked in Aubin St just near the intersection of Ben Boyd Rd. With the exception of the damaged bumper on o/s/f none of the rest is conclusive enough in the ebay provided pictures, particularly as they were taken in broken shade of a tree. In addition, it has an oil leak, it would not start, n/s door mirror broken & both rear window switches are missing. Bit of a contradiction to "car runs smooth & no problems at all". When quizzed about the missing door switches, his answer was "they work". Cheers, D -
I have some drawings or specs of the R200 Moustache Bar if you need them, but I warn you, they are for an R30. Does the C210 have the same, or offset like the Zed cars do? $250.00 is a bit steep I think, particularly when it's mild steel, not spring steel (like leaf springs) as I would prefer. Cheers, D
