  1. Oh this is my 1998 E39 5 series. It's worth more to me than financial value. It's a project car for me to love and work on without fear of f**king up something that has lots of value or that I need to keep running.
  2. I'm super realistic here. I love the car and want to keep it but I know it's days of perfect condition are well and truly over. I just want a fix that won't come back.
  3. Some of the filler. Also if I look under the top flap of metal it starts looking good quite close to the edge. I get the feeling it doesn't go much further.
  4. So, I finally started digging at the bit of my roof that was cracking and bulging a bit. Well, it was just thick filler that was covering some pretty bad rust. I didn't find the edges, I was too bummed to keep going. There are a few holes as you can see. There was just so much filler but looks like no attempt under the filler to prime or use rust converter, just slapped filler on exposed rust. Anyway, I'm going to take the windshield out and find the edges. I'd love to fix this myself as I'm pretty sure it'll be expensive to get done properly. I was thinking I could just get a cut piece from another E39 and just weld it in place as it would be the right size and shape. Thoughts?
  5. It hasn't arrived yet fatz... What time will it be here?
  6. Beauty, thanks guys, got some ideas now. I note that none of you agreed with the flap disc so that's good to know. 👌🏻
  7. Here it is nice and clean and for shits n giggles he's the clearly structural piece of trim it was holding down. 😬
  8. A lot of the trim pieces on the E39 are super brittle and just dissolve when you try to get them off. It looks like a previous owner has used what can only be described as an industrial construction foam adhesive to glue down a tiny piece of trim. Unfortunately this part of the tailgate is starting to rust because of how much shit is in here. This is stopping the water draining and there's a big build-up of dirt that is just staying wet. How can I remove this? Would a flap disc get rid of this? I think this car spent a lot of time inland. There's so much light coloured, fine dirt and dust everywhere. Sorry for the pic. I've cleaned this all up now so I'll get another pic of it clean today.
  9. Hi, this was in the suspension and braking section. I have moved to more appropriate area.
  10. Oh to have that much room! 😍
  11. Welcome! You could always give it in and buy a BMW?
  12. Hey Christof and welcome! Sounds like an awesome project! I'm not sure many of the regular users on here would know much about the HK but I could be wrong. Looking forward to updates.
  13. Youtube mate. What 'in depth' are you looking for ?
  14. Oh, and I forgot that the main point of this topic was to reduce unsprung weight!
  15. So, the wheels in question come with 255 tyres from factory but I guess semi's are usually a bit fatter, maybe that's too much for an 8.5. I'm currently running 245 front and 265 rear with Federal 595's on my 19's. There are no OE square setups so to run square I either buy 2 sets of OE wheels or get an aftermarket set. I was thinking about the OE 17's I have because I already have one set (17x8, 17x8.5) and you can get another set for under $500. I do have another set of the same 19's (I have a bit of a wheel problem) so I could put together a 19x9 square setup but I'm conscious of the cost of semi's this size. 255 square on the 19's would be pretty cool though.
  16. Ok cool, because I do have some OEM BMW options for light(er) wheels. 17x8.5 M Sport wheels are 11kg and I could put 255's on them. Maybe that's an initial test.
  17. Apex has been banned also.
  18. To this day I find the stock R32 wheel size hilarious.
  19. I've been to the Apex site at least a million times and never noticed that page. Much appreciated!
  20. Enkei's are what I've been looking at. There were some Enkei 18x9's in my stud pattern that weighed 8.5kg's so similar to what you said. Did you notice a difference when switching to lighter wheels?
