  1. Mate, don't stress about it at all. We'll get there, theres no rush and definitely no pressure on you at all. 👍
  2. So, I think we'll still need some trial and error here. If a piece of content has the tags; wiki, r33, brakes it will display on 3 pages - wiki, r33 and brakes. So, maybe this will need something like 'wiki-r33-brakes' ? Note that open tagging is GONE in v5 - so authors cannot add tags to content. It will be up to us to add tags so the naming convention is also up to us.
  3. Guys, here is the incoming tag system. I think this will be really useful for us. https://invisioncommunity.com/news/invision-community/invision-community-5-tagging-reinvented-r1302/
  4. But, do I have to? 😬
  5. While doing my tailgate struts I found some rust. Also replaced my bonnet struts. Such a cool satisfaction with that job.
  6. So I removed as much as I could from both sides. The shop vac did a great job of clearing 99% of it. I got it all as clean as I could and then absolutely drenched the whole lot in the rust converter. Tonight or tomorrow I'll hammer it again. The cavity must be close to 400mm in length and surprisingly I was able to get it right to the back. I'll quickly reassemble and then pretend I never saw it. I'll post pics (for me to ignore later) soon.
  7. Looks great Pete! Sounds great in that video also.
  8. Should have checked that. On the plus side, I got my Bluetooth adaptor.
  9. Sorry the pictures suck. So hard to get camera and light in there
  10. One of the first jobs with the E39 is making sure the tailgate stays up. In BMW fashion they made a little cavity under the roof to hide the dampers rather than putting them down the side like everybody else. As you can see I have these little cavities that house the dampers. When I cleared one out and vacuumed as much crap as I could out of it I noticed a fair bit of rust. The cavity is bone dry, even after all that rain we had only a few days ago so I'm assuming that whatever allowed the moisture in is fixed but I'd like to treat the rust in there. I was thinking of just blasting it full of rust converter but I didn't know if this would be beneficial considering I can't actually get in there to prep anything. Maybe there's a better product? Thanks guys
  11. I dunno man, that VX S with 200,000 k's is still hanging out for 1.5 I reckon the R34 is the better buy, personally.
  12. Dang, doesn't even include on roads.
  13. The new project has arrived. I have wanted one of these for such a long time, well before that meathead Clarkson drove one in Africa. I really wanted an E34 but I have some medical issues that mean I *really* can't bump my head and the lack of airbags in the E34 made it just too big of a risk. I don't know why I've always liked these older touring BMW's to be honest, but man I love this car. She's been pretty well maintained for her 243k's with what appears to be only a single oil leak at the oil filter housing gasket. It has a bunch of updates including later model bumper and headlights, 7 series billion-way adjustable seats and it came with a few spares and another set of wheels with legal tyres. I got a unregistered car permit from the RTA and drove it back from Canberra on Saturday. First cab off the rank is cleaning it up for blue slip. I dont know how picky they'll be but I figured I'd clean the headlights, fix the oil filter housing gasket, replace the speed sensors (throwing errors) and swap the OE wheels (the M Sport wheels have a big chunk out of one of the tyres.) I also need to replace all 6 gas struts - 2 for bonnet, 2 for hatch and 2 for hatch glass. The car tries to eat me whenever i open any of these. My plan for this car; Ultimately, this is a budget car. I can't afford to throw lots at it and its because I have another car that I got this, if something breaks its no big deal. I will just maintain and repair it really. But eventually I want to do a manual conversion. It actually looks pretty straight forward for E39's and the trickiest part will be sourcing the parts. I do need to replace some suspension arms or bushes because wow, she's a floaty old girl. She's also fantastically slow. Like really, really slow. When pulling back out on to the freeway on Sat after a quick pull over I needed to wait until no cars were visible before going. Oh, and the guy I bought it from had a gorgeous R31 GTS-X in the garage.
  14. Welcome (back) Gaston! Keep us up to date with the hunt!
  15. I reckon you'd get 90% off. My washer doesn't get between spokes very well. Haha! I love my Gerni! Argh! Steam cleaning has its place for sure.
  16. No. I think it's gone. 😭 I think you can get body coloured ones on eBay so I think I'll get one of those... Or just hang a red ribbon from the hole and whack a TOW sticker next to it.
  17. A little follow up here on the ceramic coating. We've had storms galore here and I've done a few ks, enough to gross them up Consensus is that they didn't get as dirty as usual, the coating definitely repelled a little of the dirt and I think they kinda snowball. They get a little dirty and then they get dirty faster which makes sense. Cleaning them regularly would allow them to protect better. Cleaning was a breeze. I tried first to just hose them off which, unsurprisingly, did nothing. But, making the wheels wet and then just wiping them over with a used but clean microfibre cloth was all that was required. I didn't need any cleaner at all, just water and a cloth. The wheels look amazing again.
  18. Gave her a nice wash today and took extra time to clean off the tree sap and tar and crap. We have a usable garage now so she'll stay cleaner longer. Took a few snaps in some nice light afterwards.
  19. I was surprised to see all the quick Jack models at the same prices on there. But yeah, grabbing one at 20% off would be great.
  20. Sydney Tools have them for ~$3400. More than the Quick Lifts but these seem better. https://sydneytools.com.au/product/quickjack-7000tl208240v-5175642-7000lb-110220v-portable-light-duty-truck-and-passenger-car-lift-system
  21. The other thing for me would be needing to go the long way (ie, front or back) to get to the middle of the car 🤣 I need to do the transfer case fluid in the E70 which is right in the middle, it's quite the commute from the front or back.
  22. This Quick Jack looks good and has 24" lift (as you said D). https://genesisequipment.com.au/product/vehicle-lifts/quickjack/quickjack-5000tl-portable-car-lift/ Look how easily he moves it with one hand @Duncan 🤣 Are the prices similar D? Roughly $3k for these? I like the look of these for some reason they give a better sense of quality on this site.
  23. The jack pad placement always had me scratching my head. I only have a small section to work with on both the E90 and E70 (and insert new project car here ) and I could see lining it up to be a bit of a bugger. For me, the E90 is just too low and needs small ramps and then the front centre jack point is a bit tricky to line up (it's half way down the subframe and about the size of a tennis ball, its really hard to see unless your head is on the ground), so I definitely like the idea of not having to do a multi-stage jack and just sliding these bad boys in under the sides. There's only one small point at each corner, so I can't jack AND add a stand on the same corner. Or, maybe I can and I'm too nervous to try. 😟
  24. I thought about ditching it but I was worried my bonnet would sound like a 90's Swift GTi sub-filled boot.
