  1. Unanimous vote has it... Motor comes out this Saturday using just the bolts, chain and washers. If I drop it... It's not my garage floor anyway... So long as it doesn't hit the car...
  2. I'm being very untrusting of an individual bolt... I thought of doing it... But will it really take that load?
  3. So, I had some time on the weekend, and while I was looking at the car, a few things fell out... Mainly being the front half of the tail shaft, the gearbox, my airconditioner and then some blasted Rats ran off with the wiring loom... I was going to take out the engine, but the problem being, it appears that when the RB30E was pulled from my mates old car and stripped, the brackets for putting the chain onto appears to have been left on the head, when it went to the tip... So the engine is still in the car... It's being supported by just resting on the mounts and against the firewall. OMG! Someone stole my dash and aircons! Wonder how fast I'm going? But you know what the REALLY big question is, other than what's going back in... Do I remember how it goes back together...
  4. It won't be this year, most likely there'll be one next year. There just isn't enough time this year, and we have way too much on.
  5. I offered my services to the Quicks, The Handleys and Spando if you need a pit crew member. Or a camera bitch?
  6. I won't be worried about it being on the same day personally, as long as I can get a personal TV going... While I don't follow the supertaxi's any more, it is the one day of the year that is like Christmas for me. I don't miss it for the world!
  7. Hey Terry, did you rwalise the real Bathurst will be on on this sunday too? Now to work out a portable TV...
  8. So, instead of watching a movie with the missus, I sat on the lounge for around 4 or 5 hours and read this whole thread... I think I'm now in trouble with her... But this is an awesome build, and makes me appreciate this beast even more!
  9. The car caught fire when he hit it... Right?
  10. I am envious of how good your engine bay looks with the fresh paint! I want to do that to mine whilst it's all out, but I'm afraid of not remembering how to put it back together!
  11. Sorry man, I thought manual! Autos, not sure what they're worth exactly, most people want to go from auto to manual... Might get a couple of hundred for it?
  12. There won't be any. The problem the DECC have with trucks is that whilst stationary, they may pass their noise emmisions, but when rolling, they become alot noiser. It's not just about compression braking, there's road noise, engine noise, they pick up the trucks quite easily who have leaking exhausts a LOT easier then employing 4 guys to wave every truck in and go over it at an inspection station. Owen, you can't hear much of the trucks on the other sides of those walls. You'd be VERY surprised how good they are at taking out noise. If there's a worry about compression braking annoying neighbours, they put up signs stating "Please limit compression braking" When coming down the Mt Ousley, the trucks aren't on compression brakes the whole way, that's why they're limited to low gear. When you come down there in a truck, you actually use the throttle coming down it. Until you drive a truck down there, it's hard to understand... And Terry, there won't be a difference at all, they're both picking up noisy vehicles, as stated, it's not JUST for compression braking.
  13. He does have a sick car... Unfortunately it doesn't get driven at Morgan Park cause he is soft...
  14. I hear he's too scared his hairdresser will lap quicker then him...
  15. So I hear this thing is going to Morgan Park and there's some soft bloke with a built R33 that won't go with you... This true?
  16. RTA didn't erect them. DECC did, and they're not monitoring truck compression braking, they are monitoring noise levels of both trucks and cars.
  17. I agree with the above!
  18. PM N1GTR and ask him about the the process to have it all engineered, he has a thing worked out with a couple of workshops for good price for engineering and emmisions, including a retune. Worst case scenario was $1500 for an emmisions tune and engineered IIRC.
  19. If the gearbox is okay, you'll get at LEAST $1500 for the gearbox alone.
  20. If it passes, and you send it off, the only thing they can do from there, is invite you into the DECC stations and do another IM240. When you pass again, you'll be all good.
  21. From the info I've gotten recently that's not quite right if you want to pass the IM240... It's the same test as usual...
  22. Social Cruise up too for the 31st of October!
  23. Ladies and Gents, it's time that SAU:NSW throw another Social event. We've recently held a successful evening out for our members with a few games of laser-tag followed up with a ghost tour, all of the people who came along had an amazing time, their only question? When's the next social event? When??? Well the answer is OCTOBER 31st!. What are we doing, I hear you ask??? Well we're taking a nice cruise from Kirrawee down to Headlands Hotel in Austinmer. From where, and what time are we planning to leave??? Well we're meeting up at 10AM, for a 10:30AM Sharp leave, at the parking lot near the corner of Waratah St and Bath Road in Kirrawee. Where to then? Well, we head left out of that carpark to Toronto Parade, turn left, and follow this down to the Princes Highway. After travelling down to the Princes Highway, we hang a right heading for the Royal National Park turn off at Sutherland. As we near the National Park at Sutherland, we need to turn left down Farnell Ave. Once we turn here, there will be a bit of room on the left where we can pull over and get everyone to bunch back up. As we head into the Royal National Park, we'll be informing the "Gatesmen" that we are not stopping in the National Park and travelling through to Wollongong. (Which we are, into a northern Suburb of Wollongong). This means we don't have to pay to go through. From here we just shoot through the Royal National Park and pop out down the bottom at Bald Hill. After Bald Hill, we will be taking the left turn down Lawrence Hargrave Drive. We will follow Lawrence Hargrave Drive down until Headlands Ave, at which point we will turn left, and pull into the carpark at Headlands Hotel. Now this hotel does have some "Down Under Hollywood Class", being the main on-site filming location for the Australian Show headLand There is plenty of park land around the Hotel, and after a bit of a feed, I will be proposing a bit more socialising and some fun activities (Weather permitting) If the weather does fault, then we'll just stay inside, have our chats, and shoot some pool. On this cruise we will ALL be sticking to the speed limit. There will be NO DRIFTING. NO BURNOUTS NOTHING ILLEGAL! We will be the most courteous users on the road, and we will not be doing ANYTHING to cause any disrepute for the club. As with all SAU:NSW events, this cruise will run under a CAMS permit. This will be another fun day, with the only cost a bit of fuel, and what ever you decide to eat and drink. For those of you who decide you need more than one or two during the afternoon, please organise a safe way home.
  24. The road rules stipulate you CAN have multiple cars in a single lane, and it then transforms into a line of traffic. Just a technicality, skim read a heap of it and I'm cooking dinner...
