  1. I wouldn't want any less than 3.9s on the street.. The main motivation for me was to get some speed back in each gear as I only rev to 6800rpm as opposed to 7500rpm with the RB20, a side benefit was being less hectic in the cockpit.. Who knows.. maybe I'll want my 4.3s back with the bigger turbo..
  2. The fact that it climbs as soon as you stab it is very worrying..
  3. Cheaper to put a 25 box in there, I went through 2x RB20 boxes then upgraded to a 25 box
  4. Use the full Reply options and down the bottom on the right is a Manage Attachments bit..
  5. I'm running 3.9:1, not as brutal as my old stock 4.36s but still very nice and I have gained some speed back in each gear (as I don't rev the 30 as hard). I also have a 25 box, used the Navara sender for the conversion and kept the 17T cog on there which seems pretty damn close.. speedo reads 7kmh high.

Maybe it will say in FAST? I dunno, that's a bit of a curve ball..
  7. Merry Fishmas!
  8. Oil will thin out as it heats up but for the stock gauge to start reading 0.. probably porkies.. Get a real oil pressure gauge and then see what it does. Sometimes my stock gauge works mint, others (especially when hot) it's crap.
  9. If you have a built motor then use whatever your engine builder told you to use
  10. Is that one of the single-din pc setups? I didn't want to go so small (mine is about the same size as my amp) as it wanted it to be semi-upgradable and have room for a capture card.. eventually I'd like to have some good quality cameras throughout the car

Only thing I reckon they might balk at if they're not in the "know" is the "twin" turbo thing (like insurance companies flip out). Only if it's vastly bigger or different than the original engine. It was as simple as change the engine number from RB20xxxx to RB30xxxx I went to Midland also, booked the earliest available appointment (7:30am I think it was) which might have been the key to getting a nice inspector.. I think there was 3 or 4 lanes and he probably picked my lane as after talking to him, he rather liked skylines and thanked me for driving my car Hmm actually, that was 2nd pass.. now that I think about it I think I got the same guy both times, first pass rego'd the engine and just found some minor stuff like an exhaust hanger off, a split boot had to secure the pod filter and a bit of piping better. Second time over he just checked the items he noted the first time and off came the sticker. Maybe with the booking system they can utilise the inspectors better so that instead of being so random (and swamped), you get an inspector that knows your type of car..
  12. I can fix that.. lolwut?
  13. LOL So they're built Tonka Tuff? I got a mate who needs a phone of that build quality lol
  14. Should have sold your spots to other people
  15. At the time, yes I had borrowed a mates 3G broadband dongle to test it out how it went while moving, 3.6Mbit connection with no loss of signal strength while driving around! Will get myself one eventually along with a USB GPS receiver but they're far from the top of the priority list.. bigger turbo comes first lol
  16. Just under 1k for everything but I got 2x setups (enclosure, motherboard, psu, drive adatper) from the US to save on shipping. Might be a little more now that our dollar sucks ass but general run down: VoomPC-2 Barebones kit - US$230 + shipping 1Gb DDR2 RAM - AU$25 160Gb (yes my bad, it's actually 160Gb) 2.5" HDD - AU$65 Slim DVD drive/burner - AU$69 7" manual single din in dash touchscreen - AU$569 (seems to have gone up by $100 since I got mine) So yeah, the screen was pretty much half the cost but I wanted something quality with VGA input, in-dash and non-motorised If you're not so picky on screens there are alternatives, i.e. if you wanted to mould into the dash I'd go for a 10.4" Samsung panel Edit: the big winner the is M2-ATX power supply that comes with the kit, it's rather intelligent and has a lockout feature so it won't just cut power to the pc when you turn the ignition off, it keeps running for a certain amount of time (that you can set) and shuts down the pc properly. It also handles the voltage drop when cranking so the pc won't reset!
  17. Nice! I was also wondering about your pc setup Personally I'm running a carpc (1.2ghz cpu, 1gb ram, 120gb hdd etc etc) in a voomII enclosure and a 7" touchscreen (no branding but same specs as the top lilliput), having ecu water temp readout on the screen all the time is wonderful

I passed the pits fine with no mesh in front of my cooler.
  19. There should be a little slot/hole for the locating lug to go into, IIRC it's on the underside.
  20. I <3 my 2-way, that being said probably not everyones' cup of tea..

IIRC I don't think you can take your car to those "approved workshops" for a defect notice inspection..
