  1. Thats the one!! No wonder I didn't find it on a topic search - its a HPI magazine, not a bl00dy zoom - it says so on the bottom of the page! Now, if any one has a copy of that issue they are willing to part with, PUHLEEEEEEASE let me know either here or on PM.
  2. Many moons ago, when the world was young and frivolous, men were men, women were grateful and sheep were nervous, someone on these forums posted some scans of a HPI magazine article that was done on the Stagea when it was first being considered for compliance. I have lost all but 1 of the pics but I am really hoping someone still has them and can repost them for me. I would really like to find out what issue the article was in and I would even be interested in buying a copy if anyone has one they will part with. The main reason for this flurry of interest is because I have just found out that the car in the artcile is the one I am now a proud owner of! In breathless anticipation of an answer....
  3. Thanks for that! And the yellow makes it easier for me - I wanted to put green in there to match my paint, so I will bung a couple of blue globes in there and I'm all set!
  4. can someone please put up a photo of the lights in question? I have never seen any "fog" lights on mine, but if I knew where to look I would love to put some coloured globes in there myself
  5. I may have mentioned this elsewhere, but the idea that the ATTESSA system is running RWD most the time is false. I had a front driveshft sh!t a uni and every time the front wheels were under power the driveshaft clicked so I can say that the front wheels are driven a lot more than anyone gives them credit for. It sounded like they were under power about 80% of the time. Even cruising at 100 kph, the driveshaft was being turned and the noise damn near drove me crazy on the highway! If you look at the way the 4WD system actually operates you will see that is a lot more about the torque that is transferred to the front wheels, not about wether the power is put up there at all (hence why the system is controlled by clutch packs and not a viscous centre diff) Suffice to say I agree with pixl8r that it is a very cool system and my wife still craps herself when I put my foot down halfway through a roundabout in the wet
  6. Bwaaaa haaa haaaa!!!! My eldest daughter is going to be well chuffed that someone a) got a picture of her throwing up (far right in front of the sexy green beast) b) posted it on teh intrawebnet thingy!! *chortle*
  7. Not to mention the fact that if you are unlucky enough to clip a kerb, the tyre side wall hitting is a lot less damaging than the rim lip, and a lot less likely to dent the rim which can lead to a bead popping off unexpectedly. Not safe in any language.
  8. Nup - final ratio is the diff, 'scott nuthin to do with the tranny, you are looking at ALL gear ratio's Any ratio below 1.000 is overdrive, hence the name OVER drive as in diff being driven at OVER the engine speed
  9. ^^Damn, beat me to it. It looks to me like the discs just slot over the wheel studs, but from prior experince this alone can make them pretty stiff to remove. Try a bit of gentle persuasion with some blocks of wood perhaps?
  10. I don't suppose anyone can tell me what the front bar and grill on this S1 Stagea is I suppose? Yes, I have tried this out in the Stagea forums, I just thought someone in here might have more luck Thanks
  11. *schwiiiiinnng* You must be happier than a dog with 2 doodles with an intermittant result like that. Can't wait to see what it will do fully sorted. Well done dude!
  12. **happy dance** *rushes off to yahoo japan*
  13. WGMG - snapperheads in carparks with shopping trolleys. After years of busting my bum keeping $500 sh1tter falcodores running , not to mention carrying full toolkits at all times and not being able to wash my car due to the rust and / or failing door/window seals, I finally manage to get myself to a point in my life when I can go out and buy a family car that I can be proud of. Not any family car mind, but even something a little individual with a rare colour, 'lectric everything and, best of all, it's turbo charged. I take huge pride in it, keeping it clean and polished and saving all my spare cash for the day when I can start **quivers** MODIFYING it. Then my darling wife takes it to the local shopping center, takes care to park it out of the way, and toddles off to do some shopping and when she returns SOME LOWLIFE SCUMBAG SCUM SUCKING OFFSPRING OF A FATHERLESS THREE TOED SLOTH has just abandoned their shopping trolley to let it carouse gaily through the car park where it manages to put dirty great big scratches in 3, COUNT THEM 1, 2, 3!!! of the passenger side panels of my pride and joy *sobs* Fair enough, you don't know or want to know anything about your own car, and you can't tell the difference between a Hyundai Excel or a Daewoo fuggin Nubira, and you are more interested in what size cup holders are in the dash, but for the love of all that is good and holy, is it that hard to realize that someone out there does and might take offense at the needlessly inflicted damaged YOUR LAZY ARSE CAUSED BY BEING TOO BONE IDLE LAZY TO WALK AN EXTRA 15 BL00DY METERS TO PUT THE DAMN TROLLEY WHERE IT WON'T ROLL AWAY!!!! that is all.
  14. Where abouts are ya? N or S of the river? You should have been at the cruise yesterday, you would have seen plenty!
  15. check the "spotted" thread (apologies for the craptacular camera)
  16. Heres a helpful hint that I got from an auto sparky - if you have that green fuzzy looking gunge on the terminals, the very best way to get rid of it is boiling water. Just boil the kettle and splash some on before you take the terminals off and it will disappear like magic.
  17. spotted - exactly 1 crapload of stageas on todays WA cruise.
  18. 'salright Heath - neither did I Got a camera organized and am trembling in anticipation....
  19. Stupid question time - are they a bolt on fit? If so, it will be my next mod!!
  20. Oh, gwaaaaaan! I want as many stageas there as possible so we can get a photo to do the sandgropers proud - we need to show off how many awesome examples are in the most isolated capital city on the face of the planet!
  21. Mechanical design in the minerals and resources industry BTW, I just sent you a PM that you can feel freee to ignore, sent it to the wrong person
  22. TYPICAL BRITTISH CAR OWNER - STARTS MAKING EXCUSES AT LEAST 2 DAYS OUT
  23. OK, here is a fairly useful link for preventative maintenance from an aftermarket turbo manufacturer. http://www.innovativeturbo.com/pages/turbo...eam&sl=tech Have a read if you like because it covers all sorts of stuff, but the quote applicable to this thread reads as 2. Take steps to reduce temperatures and speeds from their maximums before shutting the engine down. turbochargers operate at speeds and continuous temperatures that are higher than most other machines. When an engine is run at maximum power/torque output, turbocharger speeds and temperatures are also at maximum. Problems can be caused for the engine and more so for the turbocharger when the engine is shut off at this point. This may require operation at medium idle or at "light load" conditions while still maintaining full engine oil pressure and airflow over the cooling system. Following these guidelines will prevent prolonged turbocharger rotation without lubrication and the formation of carbon deposits that can form as residual oil is decomposed in the bearings and center housing (heat soak-back). *ends rant, backs out of thread slowly*
