  1. whats everyone got against woodgrain? Mine has heaps of it everywhere and I love it to pieces. Best bit about it, is when you get armour all on it (as I did acidentally) it polishes up like glass and looks a treat! just be careful not to get any on the steering wheel.
  2. and I still think the dash is just bloody awful
  3. Thanks for that Roy - just as I suspected. The problem with adding the front lip and/or dayz bar is that my car doesn't have any side skirts and only the standard rear bumper so anything else I use is just gonna look plain wrong as it will be much lower than the rest of the car (ever seen those idjits that put the V8 supercar style front dam on a otherwise stock commodore? ) and I don't want a body kit anyway - best way to be different IMO Also, due to the different area of the R34 SMIC, I don't think even the std S1 lip would push enough air up into the new cooler. (I had a look at SK's thread on this conversion and he has modified the std ducting too) I am open to any other ideas any one has. to be continued....
  4. Its a long and involved story that I don't really have the time (or inclination) to explain, but suffice to say the current set up is far from satisfactory and only gets what ever air can get under the front bar without the RS4 lip. I would love to post some photos but my camera is currently out of action
  5. I am in the process of putting a R34 SMIC into my S1 stag, and I have realised that there is no obvious access for air to actually get to the intercooler. This may be due to the fact that I dont have the lower lip that appears to be standard on the RS4 and I am hoping that someone out there can confirm / deny that this is the main feed for the unit. I was hoping someone would be able to direct me to some photos of the area in question so I can see for myself how the standard ducting works. I do have the vents in the leading edge of the passenger side front wheel to let the air out, just nothing to let it in. Also, due to my pathological hatred of body kits, I don't want to have to install said front lip or **shudders** a new front bar. (I have nothing against people that do like them, just not my personal cup of tea. ) I am thinking of cutiing a hole in my front bar and meshing it over, but before I resort to this type of butchery I would like to see what every one else has.
  6. Having to hit it make make it spin is a direct pointer to the SM "poling" - the bushes at either end of the armature wear out and when current is applied the shaft moves sideways and jams diagonally hence belting it jolts the shaft back into a central position that allows the shaft to spin. The moral of the story is, if the brushes etc are OK, you may be better off finding a sparky that can pop the casing and fit new bronze bushes. This will be a lot easier than trying to source a new / second hand unit and most sparky's will give a good warranty on the work done too, well worth the spend IMO.
  7. Hey Roy - just out of curiosity, did you win the one on yahoo jpn? missed out on that one by the skin of my teeth. Luckily I scored one here in perth for only $10 more than that one was gonna cost, and no waiting.
  8. Yippee! I will have a shiny new AFM and a fresh new 'innacoola' for the occasion too! can't wait - it will be really good to finally put some faces to some names. ('cept yours Brad - I already know how ugly you are )
  9. I am not saying it couldn't be done, I'm just saying I personally don't think its a good idea. Wildcat - the main difference is the fact that the crumpledoor and foulcan wagons are leaf spring rear ends and the stagea is a strut rear end - keeping in mind that there is no side impact protection in the rear of ANY wagon (being a designated crumple zone) there is a lot more chance of intrusion of the suspension componetnts into the rear of the vehicle in the event of a crash. The worst part about all this IMO is that this is really applicable when someone runs into you , so your own driving safety / ability has no effect on the outcome. As much as I hate Tarago's and the like, at least they were designed from the outset to be used as a people mover.
  10. I'm pretty sure they do - mine is a lowly 25X and it has the power leads under the (cloth and non electric) seats - I found them on Saturday giving it a bit of a detail and I was a bit "WTF is there wires under here for??" and I guess that must be it.
  11. I have always thought that putting your kids in a CRUMPLE ZONE with no leg room was a pretty silly idea. Not to mention the fact that they will be sitting on top of the fuel tank, and the fact that there is no where in the back of the wagon to properly mount seat belts. but apart from that, it should be fine....
  12. Phew, you are about to discover how true the saying is "opinions are like arseh0les - everyone has one" I asked this question once, and never again. And no, I didn't import mine.
  13. It never rains it pours. I have now located one so thanks to everyone for your help ('Specially Kev - sorry about the breakdown in communications )
  14. you've lost me.... What exactly is it, and how does it differ from a shift kit? Are we talking new valve body or new solenoids? more info please!
  15. Std intercooler - got pics? and does it have a shroud (front plastic air scoop thingy) Pretty interested.....
  16. Take out the estimated 3K for compliance and you would save a fair bit - if you were looking for a wreck for parts that is....
  17. Clint, You may want to have a look at the group buy section for the exact same product offering http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=145330 There is a lot of positive feedback on there for it so it looks like a good buy IMO
  18. I always thought that a turbo timer wasn't just to cool the turbo down, but to give it a chance to slow down before shutting off. Your turbo wheels can get up to a fair few rev's per minute while under boost and I for one like the idea of letting the revs slow down before I cut all oil and coolant pressure to the engine.. Just my 2cents
  19. Nah - just an upgrade - the shroud on the S2 has more room for a water spray too
  20. LOL! Don'cha farkin hate that? I ride a "hybrid" bike and I always get buzzed by people on their flash racing jobbies.
  21. Close - he was refering to Motorvation, WA's biggest car show Brad - Nup, thats it I am offended now *crosses arms across chest* Only way you can stop me being offended is by offering me a seat on the supercruise
  22. I would, but my camera is stuffed (right before motorvation too) I will be driving it this Saturday if you want to come out to the car park and take one for me! It would be kinda interesting to sound out the general consensus. I had forgotten about that until you so tactfully bought it up. I will have to take off the heat sheild toi I suppose to prove that it isn't NA anymore
  23. Excuse my blatent unadulterated noobness, but what are the advantages of this and why do I need one? They shure look purrty tho....
  24. Thanks for that - this is a desperation notice more than anything as I have been calling and emailing all the jap wreckers I can find to no avail. I have also tried ppl like slidewize but haven't heard back in over a week. If any one knows of any wreckers with good gear and / or contacts can you please PM me or drop some links here because all I am getting is abrupt "nah - haven't got one" I'm pretty sure I won't be the only one to appreciate it. Cheers
  25. Kermit, I have been thinking about a 3" cat back s/s 'zorst for my S1 Stagea but I am a little worried about droning (being a wagon and all...) as my previous falcodore wagon copped a big mandrel bent system but the droning drove me mad, and that was with a resonator AND muffler. I would be interested in hearing your opinions on this, as well as a quote on supply and install. Any advice on where to source the appropriate muffler would be good too. Cheers
