  5. OK, thanks to the shared wisdom of a select few (read - one) I have the answers. The thermostat is the same for the S2 R33 Skyline, which was 1996-onwards. The normal opening temp is 76.5 deg C Nismo apparently do an early opening version that opens at 62 deg C.
  6. I took my car for a drive yesterday and with no warning at all it decided to get a bit hot on me (about 3/4 on the gauge) It didn't use any water and after a couple of hours parked, and a thorough check of the cooling system including an air bleed check I took it for another drive and it is all good now. This leads me to believe the thermostat has stuck closed. So, I am going to replace it this week and do a complete coolant flush while I have it out. My question is this -: 1) What temperature range should I be looking at for the thermostat opening? 2) The S1 Stagea has a series 2 R33 RB25 - does anyone know for sure what year this was available? - my local parts supplier only has listings for the skyline? (there are a few different temp's available, I just want to make sure I get the right body)

  9. Just out of curiosity, what do you use on a jet engine? A brand and description would be great if you have it.
  10. I had to go through Just Cars as they were the only ones that would cover me. I have never had a car insured before (due to only ever driving bunky's worth $1000 and less ) and I am pretty sure I got a fairly decent deal. I have found them quite nice to deal with too, but I have not made any claims so that may change....
  11. the only thing the log book is going to tell you is wether the odo is correct and for an 11 year old car to have 55k on it, you can be reasonably sure it isn't (it works out to less than 100km's a week....) This is not uncommon for any import, and you would be much better off going by the overall condition of the car and mechanicals to judge its true life. The biggest problem I can forsee is you will have no idea when the important stuff like timing belts will need to be done. Use the Search button and you will undoubtedly find answers to pretty much any questions you will have as they are bound to have been answered before. Good luck with the hunt, you wont find anyone here that has regretted the move to "a touring wagon that is functional yet comfortable"
  12. I am quite happy to stand corrected I did say that my only experience with this was a Stagea tho....
  13. No, but what you did to the suspension WILL have an effect on how your car deals with the impact Nobody told you it couldn't be done, you were just told it would be impractical, cause more drama's down the road and cost you more money and heartache. If you continue with the pedantic whining know-it-all attitude you will be finding it harder and harder to get useful information from anyone here. I'm just glad I don't have to deal with it - you do! If you need any help with the RB series engine and diagnostic, post here http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...php?showforum=8 and show some of them guys the same smart arse attitude - see how far it gets you.
  14. Noice photo by the way....
  15. Oooh, testy! I was just making the point that having lowered the car so much, restricted suspension travel and removed any cushioning effects offered by a sensibly sized tyre sidewall, the chances of anything going bang over a bump is greatly enhanced. I was not being facetious. I did try to offer some help so back the F off! Blanket statements like that don't do anyone any favours. and have a lovely day..... Oh, and Yokota's, when you do get this sorted, make sure you at least check and clean the O2 sensor in your 'zorst because right now it will be coping a hammering.
  16. *yep, all that suspension expertise is REALLY paying off now* Sounds like a spark problem - try swapping over the coil packs to be sure and have a really close look at the casing when you are doing it - a break in the plastic coating could be shorting out the spark. Also check all the obvious stuff like ecu plugs, injector connections etc. Just be careful - if the piezo is stuffed you may be pumping raw fuel into your turbo (which would explain the smoke) and that won't be doing thebearings or seals any favours whatsoever.
  17. spank you hairy crutch anyway!
  18. Well, I had the heater core in my S1 Stagea replaced (luckily, just before I bought it) and 1 other guy on the Stagea forum did his own and the thing both had in common was coming away from the experience twitchy gibbering messes..... I realise the dash's are slightly different, but get someone with FAST access to show you the breakdown pic's and you will see what I mean. It takes someone who knows what they are doing 1-2 days min.
  19. excuse my nOObness (again) but WTF is a RB31DET?? I have read up on the RB30 upgrade (and am currently in negotiations for my left testicle ) as I think the torque gain makes it the most viable mod for the ol' family truckster but what is the 31 bit? Overbore perhaps?
  20. **Reaaaaally wishes I hadn't done that......**
  21. WTF were you expecting? If everyone loved their stag unconditionally, this forum would be a pretty damn boring place with everyone talking about how they AREN'T modifying their car because it is perfect just the way it is.... The thing that I love about the car modifying culture is that everyone has their own ideas and perceptions on how things should be done. Oh, and ALWAYS listen to She Who Must Be Obeyed.......
  22. 1. Lack of factory cruise control 2. fuel consumption - even stock 3. 4. that is all
  23. *ponders how many chicane kits he can fit in the back*
