  1. Any info about exactly what hi flow you're gettin?
  2. Well I edited my post but yeah as I mentioned before, the pressure drop across the stock intercooler was 1.5psi at 170rwkw, so its not as much as people make it out to be. It was actually less again when I used a thicker (80mm) S15 core. Needless to say its no excuse not to get an FMIC. Its definitely worth it.
  3. You know, if anything an aftermarket core will have more pressure loss because of the much much longer tubing (ie 500-600mm!) it has to travel thru. I wouldnt be suprised if the stock one outflowed an aftermarket one. But the temperature drop would be second to none. FMIC doesnt give power on its own really, it allows more power to be made by letting you turn up the boost safely especially in hotter weather. EDIT - To illustrate my point a while ago with my stockie intercooler (same size on the skylines I believe) I had a boost gauge pre and post intercooler. THe difference was only about 1.5psi at 6000rpm, when the car was making approx 170rwkw. Thats stuff all really...
  4. 1.0 Japanese PS = 0.98632 BHP
  5. Nice technical explanation as always SK. Btw what about a McPherson strut type at the front? Like the ones from an S13-S15 etc. Do they benefit much from a strut brace? (Seeing as the struts are shallowly angled into the body)
  6. Download the manual from www.apexi-usa.com and check it out.
  7. The HKS 3040 is rated at 500ps @ flywheel and is externally gated.
  8. Actually you'd be suprised how many people think turbo sounds such as flutter or spooling is due to the wastegate... "Gotta go an external wastegate for some fully sik flutter bro uleh!"
  9. Just be wary of the timing belt. If the odometer has been wound back, who knows how long its been on there. They are meant to be changed every 100,000ks.
  10. Yep. Always judge by the dipstick, not the theoretical capacity. Never be tempted to add more left over oil if it shows H on the dipstick.
  11. Well judging by this guide who actually measured the flow of an R33 pump, it has more flow than one might think. (R33 pump is the same as the 300ZX) Taken from this excellent article; http://www.stealth316.com/2-fuelpumpguide.htm As you can see from the graph, it flows an easy 220L per Hour at 60psi. Thats enough for 6x 550cc injectors. Whats funny is that Bosch quote their 044 pump as 200L per hour at 75psi which doesnt seem to be any better than the tested R33 pump.... (Although Bosch are quoting flow at 12V)
  12. When you have an accident, thats when you probably had too much power. Until then, crank the boost! /10yo kid mode off but I like it
  13. A HKS GT2835 Pro S is more suited to 270rwkw than a GT-RS is. The GT-RS would be right on its flow limits at that power level, where as the GT2835 would be able to do it no sweat. This is because the GT2835 Pro S has a bigger trim compressor (56T vs 52T) and a larger turbine (56mm vs 53mm) than the GT-RS and thus is more suitable for a RB25. The GT-RS is more suitable for a SR20. -IMO-
  14. Just going by what was said. Anyways...
  15. I cant see why when on highway cruising the engine should be on boost. It should still be in vacuum when maintaining steady highway speeds for sure... Btw I still reckon you can stay with 14.7 AFR for boost upto approx 5-7 psi underneath 3500 rpm. I know that my standard ECU (S14 SR20DET) does this, with no qualms.
  16. This happened to me. I got myself a bloody good lawyer and the end result was just a $700 with no extra suspension, however my reason to drive whilst disqualified was somewhat of an emergency. I think the excuse of getting to work wont get you off on this one. They'll use the argument that the detriment to work was the concequence of your offence. Good luck mate, your end result will depend highly on the judge's character and attitude aswell.
  17. With the SAFC I doubt you'll gain any more power at all, since the AFRs are already knife edge. You'll probably loose some as the AFRs are richened up a lil for safety.
  18. I emailed Wheels magazine to see if they'd be interested in the pictures. I suggested it was the new VE commodore. This was their reply; "Thanks for your email and for thinking of us. If the cars are matte black and with BMW-style fake grilles, we already have photographs of the cars from one of our regular photographers. If your car doesn’t match this description, we’d be keen to see it. Please keep us in mind for any other cars you come across in your travels. Best wishes, Chris Gable, Wheels" They neither confirm or deny it. But in reference to the 'fake grills' makes me think that it isnt a Volvo? If you look close, that VE Commodore that someone posted up earlier has striking resemblence with the pics I took. Moreover, the projector lights from the pics and the VE drawing seem to be pretty close! Even that new Open concept car?? Hmm!!!
  19. Thanks for the watermarking, im pretty shit. I guess I should remove my poor attempt. I'm in Broken Hill. Ive seen the car for a couple of days now, but this time I happened to have a camera handy. On close inspectin the interior looked pretty lux like, but not like a BMW. Being LHD it seemed a bit funny aswell. Moreover, the front bar cover I think is just to fool you with its BMW style grilling. When they had it parked, they put a towel over the dash. I have an interior shot but the glass reflection made it hard to see. I'll post it if anyone wants!
  20. Hold on guys im trying to reupdate the photos but this bullshit server is takin forever to process it!!
  21. Check it out, was in the carpark whilst im working in the country for a while. LH Drive aswell. Strange! Any ideas? The new VE commodore?! Some Euro car?
  22. Oil at 225C! Damn, thats dangerous, the oil would have been thinner than water, and there would hardly be any oil pressure! Let alone the oil evaporation rate at that temp.
  23. Cant see why not.... 370cc x 6.
  24. Ahh duck is going to the Cas huh! LOL Better win some... for me )))
