  1. Interesting thread . I originally met the OP last week , and had a look at his car passing on a friendly favor to diagnose . But in all honesty as i mentioned to him his turbo sounded quite normal and pulled well. From what he had told me he was running 12 psi with the standard smic, which is a big no no . Initially i corrected him on that and a few other issues which he was ignorant about . But listening to the car through a test drive it sounded like any other RB. Also he pointed out that he had a pod on before , and reverted to the stock box . so thus being his first skyline i doubt he would recognise any difference in turbo induction . With a pod you never really hear the turbo your really just hearing the induction , and i myself have a stock box and i know its a subtle sound where you can actually hear the turbo spool properly compared to noisy pod. The so called whine is obviously the step down from pod to box. otherwise iv mentioned the rubber gasket on his manifold is gone because its the first iv seen in years that had black soot seaping out , which could additionally add to the noise he hears, which i dont . All in all i strongly agree with everyones comments about the cheap turbos, definitly not worth the risk in putting one on and clearly they have nothing on a stock turbo , theres a reason why the r33 comes with a garret and not some cheap unknown ebay turbo in it . So do the smart thing , buy a 2nd hand high flow or get yours high flowed , because as mentioned as you change things much more things are needed along side to support , and for starters you need a front mount before you can run a high flow with more boost . Either way your looking at $800 for 2nd hand high flow , and 4 - 500 for an intercooler . apposed to you spending your $400 on ebay which is just going to backfire on you as others have mentioned. I think you should listen to the forum as 99% of us all agree . but thats your choice . cheers
  2. explosive side skirts , gtr bumper replica , and as for the rear looks like some ridiculous veilside pods or something along those lines
  3. no buckles on the opposite side of the wheels that you cant see? .i had steering vibration in my ssv ute , couldnt work out why until one day i happened to notice the slightest flat spots , mind you they were 20s but as soon as i got new wheels problem sorted .
  4. Test fit the bar first to see if any trimming is needed.fill any imperfections . usually sandpaper grit depends on how good or bad the bar is. i would usually start with low grades around 120 when sanding filler , work your way up slowly with a block . wet and dry sand up to 600 - 800 Another good thing is to mist over some black paint on the surface (color depending), allow to dry for few mins .use your block to sand and you will definitly find any imperfections or holes you have missed . i do it all the time when i spray things these days . Follow those steps and your good to add primer , do the mist coat after primer when you sand , helps to know where you've hit , weather your spraying it yourself.
  5. r32 is your price range . r33 in good condition go from 9 - 12 k . r34 14 - 20 k
  6. maybe keep it . wrong place to try and porn off a civic as mentioned . its true
  7. try a boost leak test , or better yet if your in syd pm me and come past and ill have a look at it for you one evening . it could be a loose hose , or hose that is cracked to cause a hissing sound . i did a boost leak test a month ago and found at least 5 -6 leaks . soon as i attended to them all the car was so much more responsive
  8. - i have a set of series 2 seats front and back . rear have some fade , otherwise front seats are tight and firm . no tears $150 neg - series 2 rear bumper + reo $60 PICKUP . Silverwater NSW 2128
  9. looks awesome . orange is different , definitly eye catching
  10. yeah get a quote on the hood , and just ask if they can do the pods for free while they are at it . kill two birds with one stone
  11. rear pods ? i think you mean . your probably looking at something like $100 - 150 for such small bits . probably better off getting a few things done which will be much cheaper then paying that for pissy little bits
  12. i wouldnt go that far with replacing intercooler piping . just do a boost leak test , its quite easy to make up a little contraption that hooks up to the turbo , pump about 15 psi into the system , get some soapy water in a spray bottle and find your leaks. you wont believe how many hoses have cracks that you cant see . i replaced about 6 hoses in my car , and tightened loose seals. it was at least 20% more responsive once fixed , as i had some pretty bad leaks . thats just another option to perform which may help the car from being slugish . at the end of the day all these little fixes make a major difference . and a cheap boost controller will cause issues , leaks , spikes , if you ran it from factory solenoid itll definitly show a difference if there was a problem
  13. +1 worth doing . much cleaner and easier to service . as long as its done properly you shouldnt ever need to get on the underside of the manifold .
  14. Iv read many of these threads over the years being on sau . your probably better searching and you will find many answers. what gap are you running with your plugs? higher boost = tighter gap , which should be 0.8 , using 10 - 12 psi . if not your car will feel un responsive , which never the less may not be an R & R problem which your thinking . i had the problem earlier this year when my car was off the road for few months , i done a fair few mods , from intercooler to plenum etc . raised boost and she felt like there was a brick under the pedal from 5 + . soon after remembered what i did in the past with other skylines iv had . as soon as i re gapped and threw in some new plugs , she really performed and felt good Check various smaller fixes before you go spending cash . But in most cases , you start modifying a car it will run R & R unless you get it tuned , so really pointless thread trying to sus much out , because as others have said a tune is in order and get it done properly . pfc or nistune or something , and a dyno will show whats going on
  15. im seeking rb26 rocker cover , cam cover and coil pack cover . in good condition nothing fancy , and probably the rubber seals as well . sydney prefered
  16. i have my explosive front bar for sale . less then 4 months old great condition , and has probably only seen the street less then 150 kms. neatly cut for front mount . reverting back to the stock bumper . payed $400 for it seeking $270 . if you have a stock series 2 bumper ill trade plus 170 on top pickup in sydney
  17. seeking an r33 series 2 front bar in good condition . possibly with mspec lip . no indicators needed sydney only
  18. if you are not mechanically minded , i would just grab some cutting compound and a few grades of cuts and polishes to get the max clarity . use 1500 - 2000 gritt wet and dry to remove major scratches . in saying that , if you were to attempt to try and remove your headlights to remove the lense , your in for a good few hours work . from memory headlights are also bolted underneath aswell as on top , so you would have to remove the front bar , and spend heaps of time trying to remove the lense with heating in the oven , a hair dryer is a joke and takes way to long unless you have a heat gun . all in all all it could be purely exterior stain which you havent gotten out properly . i did my headlights properly from 1500 , and now they are clear as glass and i always get comments from people asking if they are brand new from japan , if your up for the good days work i would give it a shot , look for a few diy on removing bumper etc
  19. why would some one destroy a gtr like that . absolutely terrible , why not purchase the series 3 xenon headlights instead of ruining headlights . ha that in my rear view , id think it was a bmw .
  20. just bog the rash if its deep , if its just a scuff go through your gritts depending on how bad and sand it up to 800 - 1000 gritt . re prime , and pick your self up a can of matt black paint . piece of cake
