Big fan of this mad_wog dude!
From what I can gather, he's been in a Lamborghini and is therefore the Cailais Turbo forums resident expert on the matter.
I drive an R34, never looked back. Test drove plenty of different cars, s15's and S14's, Supra's, etc, etc along with owning an R33 and the R34 GTT wins for bang for your buck... power, looks, style, handling. IMO!!!
Perhaps not double... but it wouldn't be the first time oil prices jump considerably over night.
Doesn't bother me anyway, until they outlaw fossil fuel or bowser prices reach $5+ or my skyline becomes unstreetable, my line stays on the road
For what it's worth I run an HKS Silent Hi-Power system and was very surprised at how quiet it was. The 'Silent' in the name isn't just a marketing ploy. It seems they are rated at 98dB but I would be very surprised if it's louder than 90dB.
This is on a GTT with HKS dump and Front pipes as well... x-force cat. It sounds wicked as hell when you open it up. Surprised no one else is running this system.
Haha, I had the same problem. I removed the insulation from under the bonnet and problem solved. Seems the bonnet+insulation was pushing down on the i/cooler piping and as a result the fan was hitting it.
It should be 6900rpm as has been said. Much more than that... particularly on a relatively stock car... and you're going to do some damage over time.
The OP has asked a legitimate question, and you all act like you've never bounced it before... haha.
I've got some money to pour into the car, so I am just going to bite the bullet and get it fixed permanently Along with the other mods I listed... needless to say I am looking forward to it.
Coilpacks seem to be a problem with Skylines in general. I don't think I know a Skyline owner who hasn't had some sort of issue with misses.
Anyway, splitfires fix em up just fine. Price you pay for greatness.
I have some misfiring issues that are still being worked out, hence the new coilpack etc to come. Half the time she's running on 5 cylinders. Also a bit suss on the history of the car.
Might as well chuck mine into the mix... 187rwkw. Manual car.
Current mods:
HKS turbo back 3" exhaust - Silent Hi-power
X-Force 3" Cat
Hybrid FMIC
HKS POD
Cold air box
Power FC
Greddy Profec B-spec II
NGK Plugs @ 0.8
Running 12psi, moderate tune.
Mods to come to break well into the 200's:
HKS GT2835 ProS
Tomei poncams
Walbro Fuel pump
550cc+ injectors
Plazmaman plenum
Splitfire coilpack
Z32 AFM
Prior to all that it was running at 158rwkw. Same as yours. Dyno Dynamics dyno.
Sounds similar to a problem I have been having.
My advice is to replace spark plugs, O2 sensor and then coil pack. In that order.
There are ways to check if coils are giving you grief, probably in that list of posts from govich. Check em out.
Cheers.
Brakes are usually a good idea at this sort of power level also. People often forget... it's all good to be making huge numbers but you need the anchors to stop the boat.
Not sure cold start valve will apply to me as it is happening to me when the car has warmed up as well. If AAC clean doesn't work I will give it a go though... up for anything. Thanks.
Thanks Sly... I think you may have something there. I will give it a go. What I didn't mention in my post is that I also get some clutch/low revs shudder as well which you said was fixed by AAC clean. I thought it was my new Hyper single clutch causing the issue...
Can't wait to see the result.
