Interested in Ganador's. Looking for pics of an R34 with them. Always intended on going Craft Square's so still not sure =/ -
Saw a super-heinous bright orange R33 gtst with bat wing and assorted horrible body kit items on Sydney Road on Friday night, about 7.30pm. Definitely not my thing...

The whole cops trying to do their job thing is often true, but not always. If your guesstimated percentage was correct, then you are saying 30% of the time you can expect poor treatment. That is unacceptable for someone trying to serve the community. I have seen cops out to ruin people's days/night/etc. In fact I have seen a cop approach a drivers side window and almost literally say "I am gonna mess your night up son." It goes both ways... there are dicks in every line of work, there are corrupt people in every line of work. People from every line of work have bad days and take it out on other people. Unfortunately for us, if the Police choose the dick/corrput path or have a bad day which they want to take out on someone then they can seriously impact the lives of others, more so than many other professions. For the record I am 30, in a suit and tie most of the time and don't generally get pulled up. When I do, I look respectable and speak politely. Even then I have cops with chips on their shoulders who seem to hate me for the car I drive. That's not really healthy. ++++1 for borrowing a stocker last weekend.

Thanks Ash, answered my question... I went into one of the bike shops on Elizabeth street today and when I asked if these $150 helmets were actually any good, he just pointed to the Aus Standard sticker. That in addition to Ash's advice and I think I have myself a nice cheap helmet.

Being Told To Open The Bonnet After Being Pulled Over

Even if they do need some form of suspicion, I think driving a 'line is all the suspicion they need heh. -
Very true, although I don't think it's quite as clear cut as I made it sound. The onus definitely is on the individual to walk away, both the aggressor and the victim... but I think in the case of a bashing, it's often quite obvious who should pay what Edit: To clarify and bring in line with my first post - I said both people pay, no matter the situation, but there needs to be a qualifier in there I think. Where both parties are throwing malicious punches, it goes both ways no questions asked. Where it's a little more clouded I am not sure how they deal with it short of investigating it.

Had a chat and a little bit of spirited driving near Frankston with an R32 GTST on Saturday at about 5pm. It had obviously had some work done. Never did ask whether he was on here or not. Anyway we both left the situation with warm fuzzy skyline family type feelings.

Someone mentioned it earlier in the thread but I reckon it's a good idea and have seen it work 1st hand... In Germany, more specifically in my example, Munich, they impose fines for being involved in a street fight, no matter who started what, or the situation at hand. Thousands of Euros. 1. It would deter people, particularly less fortunate people, from fighting, as they cannot afford it. 2. It solves Vicpols precious revenue raising strategy at the same time. Bust a couple of street fighters and all of a sudden the few hundred bucks from the hand brake clicking 1 or 2 times too many would be much less attaractive on the balance sheet.

It's really going to be a balancing act between increasing penalties, police presence and surveillance, and protecting our civil liberties. No one wants to live in a police state under the constant watchful eye of big brother but we damn sure don't want to live in violent chaos either. It's going to be interesting to see which way it goes.

For what it's worth, I'm running just under 300rwkw on an R34 GTT which I, with the help of some good workshops, have built from stock. Full boost by 3500rpm. I don't really miss stock boost and how early it came on, it's just an adjustment to your driving style... and it's no where near Lag Monster status. An adjustable exhaust side cam gear is a must though. Don't bother with two because ideally you want to keep your VVT. Cams make less of a difference which is more noticeable at the top end anyway. $10-15grand is a good starting point but be ready to keep going. At 300rwkw unless you get substantial suspension and ride work done, you will never get the power to the road. Furthermore you will want at least upgrades to the stock brake system. As people have mentioned before, you motor might also go bang at 300rwkw. The R34's are a newer motor and generally believed to be good for a little more power than the older versions, but not much. And that is an additional $10000 right there. Finally, I believe that your methodology for working out the power you want is all wrong. You are comparing apples with oranges as far as your 300kw Holden or Ford vs 300rwkw Skyline. Not only are you comparing a flywheel figure to a wheel figure, but the Skyline is also considerably lighter. You DO NOT need 300rwkw in a skyline to be quicker off the mark than a 300fwkw holden or ford.

Look out! The waves are going to travel up the beach a bit further. I am still not convinced that the BOM is not taking the piss.

I'll be there.

Any reports yet of the quality and performance of the JJR intake plenum? -
Always had good dealings with Revolution Racegear. No experience with anyone else though.

I guess you were driving like a tool when Highway Patrol got you Hamish?
-
LOL I hear that man. Hamish and I live in a group of 4 townhouses with another 4 townhouses in close proximity next door. 2 skylines with 3in exhaust and decats, starting every morning would do your head in.

Sorry to hear mate. Someone tried to break into my car in Caulfield South relatively recently as well. Sucks especially when you think you're in a safe area.

Spotted Silver R33 GTR (I think) on Nepean Highway (Brighton) at about 8pm tonight, and I think he had SAU stickers too. We both cruised through a booze bus at about the same time, obviously a busy night for the cops to let two lines through like that!

I'd be in the Mazda any day. Chains are definitely a necessity, you won't need them for years then ONE DAY, you'll be up sh1t creek without a paddle.

My traction control switch is not labeled like you describe but it is certainly in the same position with the same type of operation. As said earlier if you flick it does a light in your dash go on and off indicating "TCS OFF"? oh and yeah, I have no idea what might be in the auto versions, could be power mode or something ghey.
