  1. I get the feeling those clips only held the light together while the glue set. Some people say you have to heat it up somehow (water/hairdryer) to pull it apart slowly. Mine are fairly old and were fairly dirty I just just autosol'led the outside and they were fine - should give that a go before you go to the trouble of taking them apart
  2. Heh heh yeah. For future reference incase anyone ever gets this thing... I have T'ed the pressure signal into the control unit from my boost gauge. I have (in order of the pipes in my solenoid picture) used the first from the intercooler/bov/manifold (where it would normally go to the wastegate actuator). This is the metal pipe on the solenoid. Then I have used the middle pipe (the first plastic pipe from the left) to hook into the wastegate actuator. Then I have left the final pipe (the right hand side pipe) open. I assume this is to vent. I have now got my boost controller doing the following- OFF - wastegate set pressure of 0.8bar LO - 0.9 - 1bar HI - 1.0 - 1.1bar I haven't pushed the HI up to 1.2 because I'm scared of blowing my engine up till I get it on the dyno, but these will serve as my base settings. They were achieved by turning the LO knob approximately 40degrees right and the HI knob dead centred in the middle. The gain, I believe was on 2 or 3. I will play with this on the dyno to try to get more response but so far it seems to hit the boost there earlier and stay there even at redline with no spiking or pressure off. Good shit I like it - if a mod wants to move this into the tutorial section please do and get rid of the other 2 SSBC threads in there that have nothing more than one post that is the question. Thanks CEF-11E for your help planning it out yesterday!! O_o
  3. If they all fall through PM me please I'm in Sydney will pickup :wizard:
  4. So far I've T'ed the pressure to the controller box from my boost gauge. Hope that's ok. In my pic I've hooked up the boost pressure from the intercooler to the metal pipe (left hand side in my pic). The wastegate is plugged into the second pipe (left plastic pipe in my pic) and the last pipe is not plugged in. I'm assuming that's to vent pressure between the solenoid and wastegate. That last pipe remains closed when the solenoid is not receiving power and it is also closed when receiving power. So I assume it's a one way valve of some sort. Surely someone has done this before... ?
  5. Pics of the control box line I'm wondering about and the solenoid that came with it.
  6. Daveo - cheers. 1- When you say straight - do you mean straight into the apex against the way the wheels are pointed? if so that's what I felt. 2- My brakes are great, r32 type M + project mu brake pads. The feeling I meant was the car had no problem stopping, but if you picture heading round the corner, just before the apex, lock it up and you'll head straight out of the apex and off the track. This is the sensation I mean.. the feeling that the car is just... very much heading out of the apex on a late brake. I know you'd get this with any car but the ceff I just felt it a helluva lot more (for what seemed to be not much late braking at all) than I expected.
  7. Hello, I just bought a SSBC (old school) second hand and didn't receive the diagrams. Just wondering 2 things. By just looking at the solenoid it has 2 outlets/inlets on one side, both look like they connect to the same chamber and are made of plastic. On the other side of the solenoid there is a metal inlet/outlet. I know that it has to be inserted before the wastegate actuator, but my question is which outlet/inlet goes to the side of the actuator and which one connects to the other side? The second thing is the SSBC controller box has a 'pressure' inlet where you presumably plug in the boost pressure line. I know that with the solenoid it's important to make the lines as short as possible but I was hoping that with the controller unit I could just T my boost control line and use that to have the controller box under the dash. I was also hoping this wouldn't affect the accuracy of my boost gauge. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks for any help - the SSBC/DSBC related threads in the tutorial section seem to be empty.
  8. Daveo - not to hi jack but I'd like to post some observations from a drive I recently did and the things I noticed and if they're the same as you are trying to get rid of. Basically, 2 things. One was I seemed to get a lot of 'washy' understeer from corners around 70-100kmh which resembled driving a GTiR. That is, it wasn't full understeer but enough for me not to like and feel the front wheels slipping through the corner. This was not at redline but probably about 50% rpm or less (because I didn't feel like coming off the corner heh heh so wasn't pushing it). The second was when braking late (I didn't anticipate the corner being so long and so angled) the car really REALLY felt like going to the apex. Fair enough I realise that's just bad driving but it was the first time I really felt the weight of the ceffy. I would have thought you can counter this somewhat by suspension settings. Are these the things you are also experiencing? Because as far as I know I don't have sway bars (or if I do they're stock).
  9. Hey you volunteered!
  10. Heh i retracted my mirrors in... good old ceffies i dono what you liner owners are thinkin
  11. Moanie - sorry I must have missed you. Wilch - you must have been behind me down the old pac.. Bugger sorry I missed ya! : Also those cops you must have just missed - that bloke was the guy I spoke to at the servo on the way home - he seemed alright.
  12. Hi T04 - yeah it works still. The hid kits in the group buy are 35w nominal. Daveo - I don't know what you mean sorry, I can only imagine you have the povo front lights as opposed to the projectors, whihc probably work better but don't look fully fast and furious
  13. Everyone seemed to keep going on the freeway instead of turning off at mooney mooney onto the old pac. Sorry to have missed you. Thanks everyone for being friendly. Especially to Simon and Dave for duct tape and zip ties and everyone else who was hiding in the paddock with during stage 2 Still - I very very very very much hate that stupid median strip thing I ran over driving into maccas, while I only have myself to blame for not seeing it I wish it wasn't there so I didn't destroy my irreplacable front bar, put out my wheel alignment and scratch my arc sump.. and lets hope thats all Thanks again everyone, you all have some really nice cars! Those 2 crazies in the s15 and r34 that passed me on the twisties - that was nuts. It was also nuts to see the copper catch up to you (fanging it!). I had a chat to the copper at a servo in hornsby and I said "I'm from SAU, we're not all hoons, please realise some of us really are enthusiasts" - he said "no prob mate I already knew that, we don't bunch all of you together."
  14. I'm comin along. I thought was a mini-meet (join-up-point) at berowra? If noone posts that up I'll be at the thornleigh spot but I dono anyone so if you see a white ceffy with a sau sticker on the back window come say gday :jump:
  15. Thanks again Richard. Pity they didn't have any cheapie helmets for my fat head! Apperantly I need XXL and they reckoned not many people make them so ended up with my only choice in the whole store being a $270 NGC or something helmet. I didn't buy it because I know people with fat heads who have bought theres for around $150 hehe The search continues
  16. I'd rather have it left open to public scrutiny so that we can have some truth at the end of it... That's my view as a consumer.
  17. Cool I'm around there - mighta seen my ceffy around I'll be up for northern cruises for sure.. beats goin out of sydney for cruises :wizard:
  18. Use spacers if you want to fit 6x9's. I'd be using spacers anyway for 6" speakers. Just use any it's not rocket science. I think I'm going to take mine out but currently running stockies.
  19. Hey man it's all good. I think he was the most constructive post here and he raises a very good point.. selling your car and getting a GTST is the cheapest and best way of getting a turbo car. Now about the cooler idea. You're adding weight to your NA car in the forms of an intercooler, which isn't going to do much more, performance wise than using a cold air induction setup. So far sounds like rice at the expense of performance. The CAI setup will also arguably be better because of less restriction and cooler air than the IC can provide (especially since the engine wouldn't be sucking enough air in to move the volume as in a turbo car). The CAI setup will also produce some ram effect if done right, something the NA IC setup cannot do. So.. I think most people who've posted here have said that it's pointless and assumed you just want it for looks. Which, in all fairness is rice of the worst kind If that's the case, I think it's stupid. Sorry but it's plain ridiculous for performance. Fair enough it's your car but I get to call you and the car stupid because you end up with is a NA skyline that looks like a GTST and you get smoked by a VTEC civic. haha. Then we have to put up with posts from sportivo/civic/mirage forums about how their cars are real cars No offence intended at all
  20. Those guards do look great. Sky is this place in Sydney?
  21. Wow nice shots. Great light. What camera and what settings? Is the location in Sydney? Still can't get over how profesh it looks.
  22. I'll try to be there for the next one or the one after : need license, tune, helmet.. then i'll be right
