Where to buy a helmet .. TONIGHT?!
someonestolecc replied to someonestolecc's topic in New South Wales
Thanks for the replies guys that saved my ass. Greenacre is too far as is Parramatta. (I don't even consider those Sydney hehehe) Thanks Richard, gonna go to the city one tonight - I'll go home and come back instead of trying to get through peak hour traffic across town. It seems good. MCA something action.. heh heh. Open till 8:30pm. Cheers! -
Damn - sounds like some big punters around the place. After doing myself many thousands of dollars at the pokies at a stupid point of my life that 2-3years later I'm still paying for (lol could have had a GTR type of thing) I will tell people don't play pokies if you can do your arse These days I'll put in $20 over 6 months. Play no limit money online (pokerchamps.com) and play a monthly no limit tourney with mates. I've been known for occasional pontoon runs at the casino but won't touch much else Certainly gambling is ok if you can afford it but if you look at the statistics for things the government likes to call gaming machines they are indeed the scourge of society (or another revenue raiser that keeps more speed cameras off the streets heh). Either way .. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!! Haha

Need helmet. Where to get one for race track duties? I'm feeling that if i walk into the first motorcycle shop and say gimme gimme gimme I'm gonna get ripped. I'm around northern beaches/north shore/chatswood so anywhere around there would be helpful where I could go after work. I can't drive to places in sydney because i work during the week so by the time I get most places they're shut already. Thanks, cc

Yeah mate the HU is all the same all cars use 12v.. well.. unless you have a hell old car like 1930's or something. The only J spec A spec issue is the FM modulator (or whatever you call it) .. the J range is about 10-20mhz lower (I can't remember the exactifications). So the modulator thing you can buy from jaycar will just "move" the band/range up to the correct scale. If you get a new aussie HU that will just be tuned to the right frequencies already. Either way you get radio
-
You can get a converter thing from jaycar for like $15 that will let you use your J-stereo with Aussie stations. You don't really need anything to get it working. You can have HU + speakers, or HU + amp + speakers, or HU + amp + speakers + amp + sub.... or any combination thereof. You can also add sound deadening and wires and stuff if you're keen - so really it could be anything. If you just wanted to listen to music then maybe you should just buy and fit the converter (modulator?) and use that Otherwise if the head unit is half decent you might be able to just get new speakers. Otherwise the middle of the range but not mind blowing would probably be HU, amp and front speakers.

lol - I don't think you really needed the diagram Won't it just be smelly and a bit silly since carbon monoxide is going into your cabin? If it's just for a track I don't see the problem in aiming out to exit next to the passenger door area, then welding another pipe so it makes it to the side of the car, then welding some sort of bracket (hell even if it's just coat hanger) that can then be threaded with one of those elastic ties then tied around your passenger seat or something (obviously the door would then close over it). That way you're not getting carbon monoxide seeping into your cabin through the floor/shifter/driver window etc.

For those of you who haven't dealt with BATMBL I've been dealing with him for HID kits and he's good to deal with so when I need cats etc I'm getting them from him.

What should I do???
someonestolecc replied to Fitzpatrick Speed Works's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Sounds like you've done all you can - I think if you don't want to be an asshole you have to tell him all of the logic (assuming you haven't already). Tell him they wouldn't hold any pressure if what the tyre shop is saying is true. Make mention to him that you're trying to help him and you should then ask him for the benefit of the doubt enough to call the tyre place to clarify. Obviously if the sidewall was cracked when he picked it up they would be flat when they got to the shop so he should ask them their reasoning as to why it cracked when they did it. Also - ask him to go have a look at the tyres themselves and ask him if the buggered sidewalls was something he'd have seen as being ok when he inspected them. Good luck hope you both work it out and are happy with the outcome. -
My GTR has been Stolen!

That's ****ed up man good luck getting it back. -
I bought one of these it was sent today if you got it from Surreal cept I got it with the thermostat and some extra bends. The kit looked excellent that's why I bought it - much better than the crappy looking ones that are going around for the price. The difference between braided and normal lines is mostly aesthetic only when you're talking about $400 kits. Personally I prefer non-bling in the engine bay as my car is not a show car and I prefer stockish looking parts. The only time (imo) that braided lines are required is when you're using lines that have a potential to perish or be damaged without the braided line and definately as has been mentioned over on ns.com I also believe a good quality rubber hose will be much better than an el cheapo braided line. I'd prefer good rubber than crap rubber in crap metal. If you found a thermostat it'd be a case of cutting the line in the right spot and shoving the hose on with some hose clamps there.

A Cefiro Few Questions!! Help Please!!!!
someonestolecc replied to S13Deviat's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
My advice is to get it engineered and rego'ed properly as you're going to drive it. There's really no point in being dodgy about it, doing one thing to pass it off then doing another in actuality. I'll talk to you about engineering. Can't help about the tyres but when you get it you should do the following: engine oil coolant brake fluid clutch fluid gearbox oil diff oil tyre pressure Not in order - and stuff like gearbox and diff oil are optional or atleast something you should think about within the first year of ownership, unlike the engine which I would change very first thing. -
Wake up call - Stolen cars
someonestolecc replied to TracidTrax's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Give me a break. I work for an insurance company and trust me the practice that insurance companies work on is to sell as many policies to people who statistically won't need to claim. If we're talking about "shouldn't" rather than actuality, then people shouldn't be stealing cars. In actuality my (best available) insurance is 50% of the actual amount covered of the car per year. Even if I lock it up with a chain to the diff, have a tracker and it gets stolen it still costs me $2000 unless they happen to leave the stereo and the wheels. So this means that the value proposition to me is quite low... if I can not have my car stolen in 2 years I would have saved the value of the car they're willing to pay me on, which is still half the value of the car. heh. So as you can see, it's not always a case of being able to afford it. -

Spotted a white r34 with white(?) rims between wakehurst parkway and sydney road 9-10pm. -
Ah good stuff. The only weight being added to my car

That's a helluva lotta cash for an alarm, if you're going to spend alot have you considered a tracking unit? If I was buying an alarm I'd be going to spend <$500 or get a tracker.

Clutch/Gearbox Problem
someonestolecc replied to alienracer's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
My gearbox always used to grind when going into reverse. When reversing just go 4th to R or 1st to R every time you go into R. I wouldn't worry about it unless (until) reverse goes. -
r32 + Cefiro HID Group Buy!! (in 2weeks)
someonestolecc replied to someonestolecc's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
First post updated in bold to reflect the various bulb kits cefiro owners have I'm not sure about the lights being chrome or black. But you'll have to determine which type they are. If you're sure they are H1's then yes the H1 kit will fit them. My ceffy has the 3 prong thing too that's the plug that goes to both the high beam and the low beam. If you notice each actual light then plugs into that. You will have to plug the hid kit into the one the low beam goes into. Full instructions are in there but I didn't really read them - if you pick them up from BATMBL he will show you, if you pick em up from me I will show you too.
