  1. agree with the above posts. if you want to drive the 35 a lot and on freeways then you may as well call past the local police station on your way out and cut up your licence in advance to save the officer the hassle... they really are built for stupid speed and get there in a hurry. also, agree with martin, i've seen the nissan dealer guys on track, and the journos too at the private press track release and they were not punting very hard at all. so it's no surprise they didn't crack any decent temps. but anyone having a decent go even on the street will get both box and engine over 110 in a hurry, and on the track the box will hit 130 after 3 or 4 good laps. they are such a capable car. just crazy fast. I've driven some pretty hot euros and other supercars lately and the GTR makes them all feel a bit lacking in torque and acceleration and grip too. such a sweet car. they are the car bargain of the century!

can't go wrong with Streeter. plus he is very good looking, so if you're ever in japan and lonely look him up. I know I did....
  3. man I am a handsome bloke! and yes, the R35 has found it's new home. has now already racked up a few thousand kms, had a dozen or more drivers, had it's limiter removed and it's boost increased, seen over 240km/h, and done dozens of laps at Phillip Island GP circuit. I was very sad to see it go, and even though it's now a slave to the well healed members of TSSC I know James will read them all the riot act to make sure they look after his first born! Second born on the way... good luck with both 'kids'.

  5. oran park is the gun venue at the moment. when it goes then I'd look at somethnig else. but I say keep doing it oran until they shut the doors on us.
  6. that is the plan mate.
  7. recaro fixed seats are beautiful to sit in and very rigid, but cost bullshit money new. Velo, aussie made, range of widths, great seats, very comfortable (especially for the larger gentleman) and good price racetech, up there in the best 2 or 3 brands of seat. great designs and quality. very comfortable too, composites a little expensive cobra (i use a cobra evolution GT in the 32 GTR), great seat, used in V8 super car, carbon, ok on price but certainly not cheap. I'm not a huge fan of the sparco seats, they just don't seem to have the quality that their price suggests. recaro a great but too much $$ in my mind. I would look at racetech, cobra and velo to get something you like. side head restraints are a good idea too.
  8. hmm, haven't looked at it. should be able to. I'll let you know!! till then I guess I'm on tokyo time.... oh, plus I forgot the best feature of the JDM car. It says ohayo gozaimasu to me in the morning and tells me the day and date in japanese, and at night it says kombanwa. nice japanese chicks voice. makes me feel special...
  9. actually my timing is getting cut off these days too. doesn't matter if I watch one HD, one SD, regular 10, or ten via foxtel. it's cut off. nothing I can do with the TV settings will fix it either, and this is one a bravia HD 1080p 46" wide screen TV. so I have nfi why it's happening these days. I think it's being broadcast like that. really p1sses me off.
  10. tut tut. should always do a 'before' run on the dyno. otherwise it's hard to diagnose exact problems like this. if you'd done a before run and got 180kw then you'd KNOW nothing is wrong with the current 240 reading. anyway, it's good practice to always do one just to get an idea of the direction the car is going even when doing fairly proven, basic mods it's still worthwhile. it would have told you a lot about the previous and current set-up for a small cost of time and money.
  11. also, jdm models have auto headlights, auto wipers jap gps integrated navi (which may or may not be able to be converted for use in aus), launch control and don't have the ugly headlight washers (though downside of that is you have to wash them yourself!). not sure if aus models also have both drivers and passengers windows full auto up and down but the jdm ones do. but the aus ones have the 5hp more, the slightly larger fuel tank and the new wheel colours. the jdm one also have more modes for sus, box and TRC (if I remember correctly). when it comes down to it at this stage of the game an aus car is the better value. the guys that have been driving their jdm cars for over a year now though made the right choice in my eyes, but I would only buy a jdm one now if you plan on tracking it and modding it and thus don't care about the (flimsy) warranty. there are not too many jap buttons, and I have never had any trouble using climate, stereo, display, dvd or any other functions. they are all intuitive and most buttons are in english.
  12. mine does.
  13. well it is worthwhile in that you'll eat through the stock dunlops or bridgestones on the track pretty fast, and the replacement cost is double that of some 18 or 19 inch semis. so you get nearly he same performance for half the money. I'll be keen to see what you think of the 55s on the 35. in fact if you want a back to back comparison give me a buzz, I'll be only too happy to come out and have a steer. i've now tried the bridestones, the dunlops, and the 888s and so far I think for feel and possibly outright pace the dunlops were the winner. I prefer the bridgestones on the street though. and the 888s are almost as good with some heat in them and half the price of either the BS or the DLs.
  14. agree on all counts. i take harrys point too about some of webbers moves not exactly being executed flawlessly but give the guy a break. he hasn't passed anyone in about 6 years or so. he's bound to be a bit rusty. he'll get back into it.
  15. actually that's a good point. what did it make before these changes? that will give you the only real measure you need. if it was making 165kw on the same dyno with the stock set-up, and now with more boost, turbos, ecu etc it's making 240 then you know it's just a low reading dyno, but that the gains are there. that's the best way to use a dyno, just use the same one to measure before and after results.
  16. well 240 is not too bad, but still well short of what it should be. stock turbos, 14 pound, a tune and a cat back will usually get around 250 or a bit more with cam gears on a 34. there can be some variance between dynos but still I would have thought the average for that set-up would be 300+ even with a crap cat and anywhere up to 350 is not out of the norm. my old set-up ran 260odd kw with just 15psi on stock turbos with standard dumps + fronts, just cat back, cam gears, PFC and hard pipe kit. yours should be smashing that set-up everywhere. hopefully you get some gain without the cat.
  17. yeah it was gold. BRING ME A NUMBER 1 VISOR. I NEEEED A NUMBER 1 VISOR. I CAN'T SEE. BRING IT NOWWWW!!!! haha, he was doing his nut, and at that point he was just being pushed along on the grid... lol. "fellipe baby, we ARE bringing a number one visor, just calm down." and yep, perfect contrast. phillip was going off his rocker whilst kimi was relaxing inside, in the dry, with his wawie-pop and coke, in shorts and his biggest problem was trying to decide between the steak or the salmon for dinner...
  18. they are all 3 channel. 32, 33, even 34. same goes for vspecs etc. the only other difference is N1s etc with no abs.
  19. me too! when I watched it I was like wtf? but I guessed they must have classified the race on the last full lap which sucks. had he not pitted I think he would have been classified as 1st! people say well done jb but it was just luck of the draw with the way things finished. shame everyone pussied out and followed the leader from wets to inters and back to wets. had one broken form and done 1 less stop there would have been a win on offer with the way the race was stopped.
  20. ran with the toyo R888 19s. 255 fronts and 285 rears from memory. may have been 265 rears. I'll check. either way I have a feeling the stockies would be a little quicker. you definitely feel a little more sidewall flex with the larger profile semis, and the car moves around a lot until you can get some good heat + pressure into the tyres. and in general the car was pretty oversteery, but great fun.
  21. webber, I love you big man. this is your year! show us what you're made of. at least if vets runs light and out qualies you everyone will see it with the published weights this year. so don't sweat, just keep driving like you did in malaysia. I reckon this was webbers best race in a long time.
  22. yeah webber would have been possibly even P1 if he'd been able to hold on. he was on full wets. then went to inters for 1 or 2 laps, then back to wets, then race stopped. had he held on he would have been much higher up. and the lap the race was stopped other cars were pitting for their wets which put webber back up to 4th where he should have been, but they counted back to the previous lap which I think was webbers out lap. poor bloke. even when scoring points he has absolutely no luck at all. he should have been 4th or better.
  23. i'm coming brisby! at least with us two handsome, talented NSW boys in melbourne the local girls will have some eye candy to look at and some of the VIC lap records will get re-set. good times. I can live with cold and wet. my euro blood means to me anything above 15 deg C is 'hot'.
  24. lol, I don't neccesarily agree with dundan that it's all horsepower at EC, but I do agree that oran is better. and since it's got a very finite life we might as well use it while it's still here. cause when it's gone we'll have plenty of time to run around EC. though having said that EC is about to get fked over too, so that they can have lots of small dicky, stupid layouts that make them many more moneys. hmmm might have to move to victoria after all... what's the weather like down there??!
